Once we donate how do we get the download?
J437185 replied to aslade09's topic in Simtropolis Related
Hello, Can you confirm my donation of $50 from November 26, 2021? I had forgotten about it until now but just remembered that I never received a STEX link. Thank you. -
Possible (Maybe Not) Solution to Eternal Commuter Problem?
J437185 replied to Eusebio Ptolomeu's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I was able to produce the desired effect by placing a road connection next to a modified subway station. So, the Sims get off the Subway, drive across the border, and get back on the subway. It's not very realistic looking but it gets the job done. I'm not sure why this worked but the rail connection didn't.- 45 Replies

Possible (Maybe Not) Solution to Eternal Commuter Problem?
J437185 replied to Eusebio Ptolomeu's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I spent several hours trying variations of this method but can't get it to work. First I bulldozed the subway neighbor connection, then replaced it with a rail connection. The second tile from the edge of the city is where I placed the SURC lot, which was modified to have a TSEC of 800. I did not change any other properties of the lot. The route query recognizes that the passengers are changing from subway to rail, so I know it was placed correctly. However, it doesn't seem to cause a delay because hundreds of Sims are now entering from the other three sides of the city and leaving via the subway line. Tripling the TSEC had no effect. What am I doing wrong?- 45 Replies

Possible (Maybe Not) Solution to Eternal Commuter Problem?

I've built a region with 20+ cities with a combined population of 600,000+, and can confirm that placing traffic delayer lots at all neighbor connections avoids eternal commuters. I used the Traffic Blocker Set that is linked in this thread and modified them so that the Transit Switch Entry Cost is 800. The result is exactly what was speculated here: Sims will first seek a job within their own city, then cross the border only if they can't find one. Having to pass through two delayer lots within the same city tile makes the commute too long, so everyone must work in either the same city where they live or one that borders it. When I was experimenting with TSEC values, I found that 400 is not high enough to avoid eternal commuters, but it does cause most of them to exit via the opposite side of the city instead of the closest connection by the corner. It also seems like freight trucks are more likely to take longer routes compared to cities without delayer lots. I also made delayers for highways and rail, but now I'd like to know if it's possible to make one for subways. I know that the TSEC doesn't affect subway passengers who pass through the station without boarding or exiting. I suppose I could place two stations separated by one pedmall tile, with no adjacent roads, so that passengers are forced to get off and back on, which ensures that the TSEC applies. However, I'd prefer a 1x1 tile which only delays passengers and does not allow them to board or exit. Can that be done?- 45 Replies
