  1. It helps having a background in accountancy The £30K profit belongs to the Highland Refining Site company. The figures show that they export the petroleum ($2400) and sell the plastics to the local warehouse. ($33600). The important point here is that Highland Refining Site is a standalone company, albeit owned by Gorse Valley. Warehouses are also companies owned by Gorse Valley. We can see they exported $107,714.63 worth of goods. Included in that is the plastics supplied by Highland Refining Site. We cannot tell how much plastic was exported, or how much markup they added - the warehouses only report their combined income and expense. The Economy screen refers to the Gorse Valley economy and only includes exports in the income figures. i.e. the plastic being sold to the warehouse is internal to the city and has no effect on the economy. So as @Quintus5 said, the $30K profit can be found within the warehouse figure, for it is the warehouse that exports the plastic. The Economy screen is misleading. At first glance, it looks like the oil industry loses $3700 - but without it, the warehouses would not be making a profit. The important figure is the total profit in both screens. If either are negative, then you are losing money.
