I've found it's better to have unfilled jobs than unemployed people. Zone less residential.

Patch 3.0 released

In reality though, fire station proximity doesn't diminish the chances of a building catching fire, it only improves the response time of the fire trucks...unless you meant buildings closest to the fire station seem to burn down without service at all. Good to see pollution work. That was ruining one of my cities. -
Terraforming with roads

This is pretty great. I'm going back into a few older cities and incorporating it into them.- 17 Replies

So how do I get the "out of Money" problem under control?
jerbyrd25 replied to DrBob75's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Honestly though, it's a stupid solution. Noone wants to zone both residential and commercial on the same block in a checkered pattern when they have made all these mass transit options and given the map is only 2k by 2k. At the same time, another failure that I wish had been incorporated is mixed-use buildings. -
I had this issue too. I think it has to do with putting your pumps on a low-lying section of town opposite a higher area and having the entire city nearly filled. I ended up relocating both my water pumps (and sewage pumps) as well as my power lines (because we all know power is affected by gravity too) Once I put the service buildings on the hill, the issues went away. This may not be the issue though, just the only reason I could attribute it to and it worked. Interestingly, I started out with only one roadway connection to the hill area and everything went abandoned so I added a more direct road route from the pumping sites. This seemed to work, but it was intermittent, which is why I just moved the power/water altogether. The odd thing is that spare capacity has no effect on pumping speeds.

University Footpaths
jerbyrd25 replied to Rufus Honker IV's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
What exactly do you mean by this statement? Some buildings have service roads and others do not. I wish that the Trade Depot had service roads to help truck movement but alas, it does not. I will have to experiment with footpaths, I notice a bunch of students who congregate around my University and having a better path for them to follow (instead of walking in the street) would be nice. I made a city utilizing these footpaths. They are outstanding for connecting districts without the use of roads. I tried to connect the trade depot from its entrance road directly to my main highway out of town via the service road, but the trade trucks would drive all across the city and not take the service road. I used both the service road from the garbage dump and then built a wind farm to access its service roads, but neither worked. Of course, as soon as I used a "dirt road" everyone drove on the short-cut rather than take the highway to get to the city entrance. -
