  1. Recreation: RUHRGEBIET by EJC

holy ***** man...crazy work. ive flown over the region a bunch, and yours looks dead on...
  2. So i reinstalled SC4 after reformatting, and everything is working fine and i've added some new plugins and whatnot. got a good city going.. however, ive started to develop the farmlands, and for some reason, the only farms that grow are the 1x2 crappy ones, i think called like pumpkin acres or something like that? i uninstalled all my custom farms that were in the plugins, and i redownloaded J_Myers' farms 1, 2, and 4, and reinstalled them in a new folder and ran the datpacker and everything. but when i go back into the game, none of the j_myers farms grow, just the same crappy little ones. anybody know whats up? thanks in advance
  3. problems with demand

so i have been playing sc4 for a while, and i am starting out a new city. im starting with some suburbs before i do the center, but i am running into a problem i have had in the past. i have no r$$ demand. sometimes, when i add a church or school or some zones, it will get me a little r$$ demand, but that is quickly filled. on a large tile, i have 25k sims, with 37k jobs. a lot of these are CS$ and CS$$ jobs due to a large mall i have built. i had no r$$ demand to expand with just the mall/shopping center, so i had to build an office park in the city too. i keep adding buildings and CO$$ jobs, but it hardly affects r$$ demand at all. i wanted a big sprawling suburb with maybe a little office park or something, and i cant seem to achieve it. i have super demand mod, but that doesn't seem to be doing much. are there any other mods i can get? or a little filler/cheater lot that has a ton of CO$$ jobs, so i can have a realistic suburb? i have always thought sc4 required too many jobs for the number of houses/demand. thanks
  4. Region rendering

    thanks, worked perfectly
  5. i downloaded a region that is sized 1025x769 and the associated config file. so i open sc4 and try to load the .jpg to start the generation. i got an error message saying "region bitmap size incorrect: 102x769, should be 1025x1025. ive gotten that error before, but usually i just found another map. however, i really wanna play this one, so if anybody has any suggestions, thanks
  6. Alancy - The City you'd love to live

great looking stuff..i have a question though do you have links to 4 apartment buildings in the last pic? im referring to the L-shaped ones you have forming a U on the left, the bunch of white ones you have plopped long a crooked road, the one thats situation diagonally on the lot with the 3 little green patches on top, and finally, the complex that has 5 buildings visible in the very bottom righthand corner. thanks a lot..look forward to more updates
  7. commercial $$ job lot?

when trying to make suburbs, even with super demand on, sometimes my cities have a tendency to have little or no demand for r$$. i find myself having to plop more suburban offices than i want to, and i was wondering....how do you guys all keep your suburbs growing quickly? are there any lots out there that have like 10,000 co$$ jobs on like a 1x1 or other small lot? that way, it could blend into other commercial areas while still providing demand relief
  8. Khaledi Democratic Republic

hey...i was curious, your terrain looks great, and im about to start a desert city myself, what type are you using? thanks
  9. Khaledi Democratic Republic

good looking stuff....crazy traffic though, where the hell are all those people going haha
  10. farm field detail

yea, all my settings are on high..anybody else have this problem? it's very strange, and i want my farm region shots to look more colorful
  11. farm field detail

they do change, but only on zooms 2-5....when i am at zoom 1 for a full city view, the fields that don't work are all the same lighter brown, regardless of season. the ones that do work are fully seasonal/functional on all zooms
  12. hey im using simgoobers fields, and theres a little bug i noticed, wondering how to fix. in level 1, most of the custom fields show up only brown. the maxis ones that occassionally grow are the regular colors, and some of SGs are correct too, but a lot of them show up as the ugly brown on the farthest zoom and region view. its not a huge deal, but my farms would be much more colorful from far away if i could fix this. any ideas?
  13. Lincoln, Nebraska

that satellite image is simply unbelievable. excellent work....wow. one question though, i notice most of your suburbs use 1x3 housing. when i do this in my suburbs, i tend to have a couple of 3x3 luxury mansions replace the smaller homes. i either have to make a few of them historical to protect the rest, or i have to have little gaps in zoning, which is annoying and time consuming to fill in. do you simply play with the taxes to keep out the $$$? i mean..in other areas you see to have allowed larger lots to develop. what's the best way to control the housing thats built? awesome CJ, cant wait to see the main part of Lincoln
  14. Official Mapping Community Requests

i was wondering if anybody would be willing to do one of santa barbara, ca for me or knew of an existing one. i'd really appreciate it
  15. Show Us Your Suburbs

so, is there any way to make city with mdeium wealth suburbs and high wealth residential towers? like maybe in a beach town...medium density suburbs with high density $$$ towers on the coast? wouldnt the tax thing mess that up?
