Pre-Orders / Activation Key / Download Issues
atilla5 replied to d53642's topic in Cities XXL Technical Issues
Basically, I'm having the same problem some of you are having. I pre-ordered the game via directly by mail to my house here in the United States (South Dakota to be exact), just about a month ago. Since then I haven't received the game (by mail) or the "CD key" (by e-mail). I sent Monte Cristo an e-mail earlier today to confirm that I actually did by the game online and it was shipped to me. Hopefully they will recieve my e-mail on their next business day and get back to me. I am confident that I will recieve a copy here at some point and Monte Cristo is doing their very best at solving everyone's problems. -
not recieving my demo validation email...

i never recieved a validation e-mail (and no I don't have anything in my spam folder), it's been nearly 3 days, so there must be a problem -
not recieving my demo validation email...
atilla5 replied to spiveslude's topic in Cities XXL Technical Issues
i'm having the same problem, I registered online but it says when I try logging in "invalid username or password"??? then I go to there website to see if it will send me my password (to see if it will send me something), but then it says on there website "Your request cannot be granted because of a system error" on there website...I downloaded and installed the game yesterday at 5 pm (it's now nearly noon) and still nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am starting to loose confidence in Cities XL and Monte Cristo, since no one has said anything, escpially since there website isn't helping at all... -
Country: United States -State: South Dakota -County: Minnehaha -Township: Red Rock City: Booge (unincorporated) Founded: 1891 (was platted in Janurary of 1891, but post office was established in March of 1891) Population: 6 (had a peak population of 11 in the 30s/40s) Located in the Sioux Falls Metropolitian Area -Metro population: 227,171 Well there's some general information about my home town of Booge located here in the US state of South Dakota. Like nearly every town in the Midwest/Plains, Booge is a railroad town. The Sioux City & Great Northern Railroad was the main driver for the community's exsistence, without it Booge would not be here. Booge was named after C. A. Booge, an official for the Sioux City & Great Northern; he was responsible for pushing the railroad into South Dakota from Sioux City. Booge was never more than a mini-town even in its heyday during World War II, and had a peak population of 11. At its peak, a store, a train depot, two grain elevators, a garage and an ice house made up the town. Here's Booge Booge's Plat map

Since I live here in the Midwest, in the US, it's hard not to use rail. Pretty much every single town and city is connected by railway, thus there is alot of town to town communting both on rail and roadways. Many of the larger towns are located where there are many rail lines going to and from the ciy, while many of the smaller towns just have the one line coming through them, so many of the downtowns/main "streets" are located either on the railway or very close to it.

I have the exact same problem that you're facing...for me I get a short notice it's coming, the game really lags up when i'm doing something, I manage to get it saved, but all of a sudden the whole game freezes up..then I do the ctrl+alt+delete and manage to get out and shut the game down. When I restart the game, the region/city that froze up on me is just one gigantic flat area, if you load it, then the region/city returns to normal. This only happens on my laptop that I use at school, I don't have any problem what so ever on my desktop at home (i'm pretty sure it's the laptop).

Show Us Your Nearest...Abandoned Railroad!
atilla5 replied to LivingInThePast's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
well, I'm going to try and revise this thread since no ones posted in 2 YEARS!!!! I can't show an abandoned railroad because I don't have any pics with me, but their are quite a few near me. Here in South Dakota and the rest of the Midwest, there are quite a few abandoned railroads, the nearest one near me is 10 miles south of my town of Booge, SD over in Benclare, SD (extreme SE corner of Minnehaha County), the line runs from Sioux Falls, SD to Hills, MN. -

atilla5 replied to xterra09's topic in City-Building Games

i'd hate be picky person, but there's no way in a 100 years that a city that big could be built there at that location and there wouldn't be any farms around it...Pierre is pretty much a dump town. I hope Sioux Falls was like this though!! Very nice idea though!!!!! I'm a South Dakotan!!

traffic must be insane in those cities!! also did u guys use the CAM?

What city and/or town in your area needs to "clean up its act"
atilla5 replied to manman99's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
Brandon, South Dakota: #1: Planning: The city needs to do long term planning and so much not short term. Due to its proximity with Sioux Falls (pop. 148,000 and growing) Brandon is growing at an enormous rate and as of the 2000 census had a pop. of 5,693 and of 2006 7,643. #2: Transportation: They need to widen the roads going into Sioux Falls as it's becoming a hell hole in the rush hour hours espically on Rice Street. As traffic is backed up quite abit with solid cars on one lane. The state also needs to widen SD Highway 11 from Brandon to Sioux Falls as it's becoming just like Rice Street. #3: Public Safety: The police here are jack***es as they will give you a ticket if you're only going 1 or 2 over the speed limit. -
