Anyone out there good with Textures, I could use some help in that area. Yogiya and I are going to be starting a group called the Crescent City Connection (CCC), mostly dedicated to making BATs and LOTs designed around New Orleans Architecture. I will however, also continue my LA River project under RLM Productions. Anyone interested in helping out on either team, feel free to let me know.

Here is a pic of the latest .. This includes the end piece, and extenders for the NAM bridges. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//RLM_LA%20River_v10.jpg align=baseline>

Welcome to page 2! Date: 12/29/2005 1:48:36 PM Author: railrod7 I've been looking for something like this. I've seen these in LA. Pegs Canals just don't do the trick. So I was about to use the ploppable water tool to make all of my drainage canal/ creeks. The following link is how I know drainage canals in suburban Nor Cal. http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=37.662251,-121.905638&spn=0.003469,0.006880&t=k&hl=en The sides are grassy and have an occasion bush or tree. But look carefully. Its a 3-way Y intersection.... the canal continues along the freeway, and the creek (between houses and commercial buildings) feeds into it as well. These also have a path along the top on the house side. At the end of everyother other court/ cul-du-sac, there is an access point. Explaining this out sounds like a nightmare to try to create it but I want to make the suggestion. Maybe you could release a concrete version for urban areas and something like this for suburban areas.... Keep on creating. It looks great. railrod7 Thanks for the photo. I was thinking of doing something along those lines as well. This is no doubt going to be a very big project, and will be put out in several parts. Thanks for the comments, and keep a lookout for more updates. Currently I am just trying to figure out what all pieces I am going to need, and I am sure there will be a lot of them.

Date: 12/29/2005 12:08:45 PM Author: keiferkapper It is a pinkish tone when it rains and that's the only time the LA river is actually a river....the rest of the year it's just a giant street gutter. quote> Don't forget, this is a work in progress ... I plan to add the grafitti before I post it, also I plan to do versions with no water.

This piece is really supposed to be placed at the edge of your city, as a starting point for the river. I posted this pic to show it could also be used as a type of bridge. I do have some over hanging pieces which are still being worked on, for use with NAM bridges. I am not sure the ingame bridges will work as they are designed to be over water, and not land.

Date: 12/28/2005 10:09:35 PM Author: Bodom thats good, i will make some recomendations... while the city grows, make the water fluid bigger. quote> My thought, if I could do it, would be to have the water level change as the seasons do, just like in the real world.

Here is what I have so far for an end .. it is in two parts, left and right. I was thinking about trying to make this a variable width river, but I am starting to have second thoughts. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//RLM_LA%20River_v8.jpg align=baseline>

Date: 12/28/2005 2:20:09 AM Author: mattb325 Wow! This looks brilliant and will be awesome for industrial areas. I can see it in game now: starting at the u-store-it, winding its way through the gritty I-D buildings...past the landfill... I know that there'll be different pieces: are you planning doing a bridge as well? Maybe you could do an end piece with a large opening as everyone will need to terraform anyway to get it in game... Brilliant work! quote> I do plan bridges, and an end piece. In fact I will be doing the end piece next (it will actually be 3 pieces - Left, right, and optional middle)

I like it!

Date: 12/27/2005 11:12:07 PM Author: sparkythepenguin Oh that water looks so gross.. Exactly the way it is supposed to! Maybe you can add some piles and scatterings of trash at strategic points for the ultimate in realism.. quote> That is the plan

simpeg-forum-threads Becca up to BAT
RebaLynnTS replied to RebaLynnTS's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
An in game view ... I maybe able to post this later today. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//POD%20HQ%20v4.jpg align=baseline> -
I am dedicating this to those who were lost in the hurricane. This is the first of two buildings, and an underground parking garage. There will be a hellipad on top of this building as well. Later I will also turn my RLM Productions HQ into a hospital, but I wanted to do this one first. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Trauma%20Center%20v2.jpg align=baseline>

Date: 12/27/2005 3:26:56 AM Author: Mickebear Becca (if I may call you Becca), Paintshop Pro does all those things that you need (don't have to have Photoshop), but I wouldn't know exactly what menus etc, as I don't have the program. Things that I have been made remarks to (in my thread: Mickebear's Istrinian BATs ...) are especially texturing, and I have found these pieces of advise extremely helpful: Dodge and Burn Texturing by Gascooker ; Texturing by 6459978 . They really helped me to a different level. Mind you, my models are not as complex as yours, but they are full of detail. Btw, you trauma centre did go fine, and I can understand the haste that you want to put your product in STEX. Now I no longer have that haste before I feel good about my project - unfortunately I am perfectionist. quote> Thanks for the Threads, found them very useful. Check out my newest project in my main thread, you'll see I am putting it to good use already. I did feel like I needed to get the Trauma Center out, at least in a Beta version, if you will. Never fear, I will be making updates. I want to learn to do a few other things, like custom UIs, custom Icons, etc.

Date: 12/27/2005 12:07:44 AM Author: mattb325 Wow - this looks really great and so much better than the in-game hospital. I tried using GIMP, but couldn't really get it to work (impatience on my part rather than the program) but I did manage to get the sort of 'fake-ray' stuff on a roof texture with 'Microsoft picture it photo' which I think just comes standard with windows XP. By no means will it do the stuff that GIMP and photoshop programs, but with a few cuts and pastes, you can actually change the illusion of brightness gradients quite well... But, this looks excellent and I can't wait to see it on the exchange! quote> It's there now! I will however do some updates after I get a few other projects finished.

Next up .. PODS HQ, and a few PODS LOTS. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//POD%20HQ%20v1.jpg align=baseline> This is a very early pic, so bare with me. -
Thanks to both .. I've posted the BAT/LOT for now, consider it version 1.0. I will go back later and upgrade. I have PaintShop Pro, works pretty good for the most part. My bigest problem is not knowing what to do to improve things, which is why I rely on the comments I get here. Each new thing I do, I add to it that wich I have learned. I have 4 other projects on my plate right now, and when I get them done, I plan to go back to my previous work and upgrade them all.

Date: 12/26/2005 1:52:32 PM Author: vester_DK I think your Trauma Center is coming along fine. Well as Mickebear sayed you need to work a bit more on the textures. The color is a bit too solid. On the Omnibus there is an article by Gascooker on Using Photoshop's Dodge & Burn to Fake Ray-Tracing .quote> Very useful article .. As with all my other BATs and LOTs I will revist this in the future and do even more with it. For now I have done what I can with the tools I have (Don't have PhotoShop at this time.) https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//KMTC-Day.jpg align=baseline>
