So, I've heard this problem from a few people now, and its happened to me twice ... when loading a city, it gets stuck in an endless load screen, and never actually loads the city. For me, I've been able to resolve this by deleting the contents of my user-data folder, and reloading the game .... but there's one huge drawback to doing that ... you have to do through that damn tutorial! It's given me a one-time shot to get in my city, and then I can't again until I delete the folder again, but dude, the tutorial AGAIN!? SOooooo, questions time: 1) has any figured out how to resolve this problem a different way? 2) If the only work around is deleteing the contents of the userdate folder, can someone tell me what the tutorial file is so that I DON'T have to go through it again? 3) Does anyone have an idea about how to prevent this problem from starting to begin with?

Welcome to the SimNation Region of the Week. Every couple weeks our group will start a new region with a theme, hoping for activity, design, and style! All are welcome! Post Apocalytpo Following the fallout from the latest SimWorld War, refugees and sims from all over are seeking an escape from the graveyard cities of old, and trying to find a new home. However, with so much destruction, the only habitable land in SimNation is a desert plateau in the South-west far from the old and ruined metropolises. Mayors are coming together with a vision of the future, and a hope for a new similization. Yet while some seek to put to rest the destructive tendencies of the past, others are relentless to continue in their old exploitative ways. Fresh veins of oil and ore is found beneath the desert hills, and already there is rumored interest of resurrecting the Omega formula. Others see the sands as a reminder of the lost city of SimVegas, and want to bring back a gambler’s oasis. Can high ideals and hope win against opportunity and greed? The answers can be found in the dunes of Post Apocalypto ---------------------------------- Rules: 1 plot per person please No restriction on DLC or buildings. Have fun! --------------------------------------- Info: Region: Rambling Badlands Server: North-America East 1 (make sure you create or join a region on that server, so it registers you, and I can add you) Contact: MagicChicken19 or LawnPhysics

pretty sure there's a mod for that. I think it has to work with other mods to work the way you want though -
At a crossroads with SC and CS - need advice (which to stay with)

Eh, C:S could simulate traffic better in general. They also purposefully de-densified the buildings (yeah, i just made up a word). They didn't do lane-changing well (which they're fixing), and the whole day/night thing does kinda suck for those who love rush hour. The whole thing feels like they were trying to back away from traffic concerns, because they didn't want to expose their poor traffic AI ... which is find still. Not everyone enjoys traffic simulation, they just wanna build a city, and that's cool. It just sucks, because why have all these cool road tools if you don't really get to push the challenge with them? -
SimCity 2013 yesterday's news?
MagicChicken19 replied to xordevoreaux's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
One thing I sure did appreciate from SC5, is that it got relative scale correct. The amount of agents per building was spot on (save for the a few buildings, like the high wealth res). Moreover, the size of the buildings compared to the sims, the cars, the bridges and the landscape was also pretty well on. The graphical scaling of the buildings in C:S is livable, sorta ... but the population scale is bothersome. They claimed they did that preserve your processor, and keep the 9 tile : 1 million agents challenge viable ... but at the same time, it also kinda takes pressure off of their broken transit system. Conceptually, the agent system is cool if you really like "The Sims", and the stories of people and such, but the thing I like most about it actually is the traffic challenges. Unfortunately, C:S doesn't have the scaling or the coding to handle a decent traffic simulation. SC5 wasn't much different, but the challenge was increased by its limited road options, and higher population density. What I sorta wish would happen in the next city-builder, would be a way to combine some of these aspects, maybe along with SC4 mechanics. SC4 used a statistical model to simulate population movements from place to place ... but since they didn't track individual sims, it didn't drain a system to run this simulation. I kinda wish the next city-sim would take the statistical model, and spawn agents based off that only in the zone you're looking at in the moment. That way, the simulation can show you city life on realistic proportion (including traffic density), but can also de spawn those agents when you move away, to preserve your machine. We might not get a million sims with names, but we can still simulate their home, their work, and their shopping with ease. -
SC13 is a great game ... beautiful, smooth, and challenging (if for no other reason than its bugs add an interesting twist). TBH though, just about all the basic necessities have already been provided by the moding community ... and I find those mods actually made the game much more into a city-builder, and less a simulator than before. I still like vanilla SC13, multiplayer ... and while I haven't played C:S yet, I fully intend to, and I'm sure I'll enjoy it too. The challenge in both games, for me, isn't the simulation, but the immersion ... how can you make as realistic a city as possible, while still making it as beautiful and interesting as possible. Still, I feel that both these games are falling short on something. I kinda wish they could get together and make a love-child :-P

Hey guys, I'm putting together this post for the Sim Nation Region of the Week. The idea is that anyone from these region can use this journal to collectively put together their pics, outside of their individual posts and journals. I hope everyone enjoys these imagines, and if anyone wants to join the Sim Nation region, look for our posts in the "Region Games" section. Thank you for viewing our work!

I wish this weren't true ... unfortunately, its the way the game was coded. Different categories, different agents. -
Does anyone have the 3.2 installer they can share? I have the 3.1, if we must, which I think didn't have project agua.

I can not play single at the any region on Sim City 2013
MagicChicken19 replied to ikaltsas's topic in SimCity (2013) Technical Help Q&A
If the city was from someone else, and you don't have the same DLCs, then you won't be able to load it. If that's not the problem, then try: 1) restarting game 2) lowering graphical settings, then restarting game 3) removing mods 4) clearing all the contents in the file below (warning, this will make you redo the tutorial, so that'll be annoying). C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\SimCity\SimCityUserData 5) Uninstall/reinstall :-\ -
There's only a few things he can do to hurt your city: 1) They could use whatever excess power/water/sewage you have, which means it won't be there if you need it for growth. Solution: You can uncheck "share resources" on your power/water/sewage plants, etc. 2) They could build up crime in his city, over populate his jails, so they let crims go, and these crims are now "leveled up" in a sense, criminals at large, which can flood your city and be ten times more difficult to catch and control. Solution: Tell them to keep their criminals under control! good education is key. But also, if your city gets powerful enough, it won't matter. 3) They could buy a Great Work that you don't want, and now you're stuck with it. Solution: Get proactively preventative. Threaten to tell mom! 4) They could go in your city when they're not suppose to, export all your cash, and unleash several hundred disasters. Solution: That's why they invented nerf-bats.

Tips to be successful for 2015 newbies
MagicChicken19 replied to zacnlinc's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
- Don't be afraid to take some space with creative road designs. There's no reason to confine yourself to a box and to shard angles. - Don't overdo it on service. Just because you can build 4 fire add ons right away, doesn't mean you need it yet! take it slow, and scale appropriately. - Tourism w/ landmarks is a great way to add a new dimension to your city without crazy infrastructure or specialization. It might add a little income too! - When looking to specialize with an exporting good (like electronics, metals, oil) don't worry if your $/hr goes in the red. Check out your budget, and you should see crazy positives per month if you're exporting correctly! -

sometimes people forget to press "play" on a new city when they do the cheat? I dunno if that could be it ... but if its not, and you think its related to the installation, why not re-install? -

Remember, the people visiting your landmarks, expos, and casinos, are ALWAYS tourists (not residents). So this will be unrelated to your employment stats. -
I'm pretty sure this guy mis-posted, and was talking about skylines. in Cities: Skylines, resident's don't move in, they don't work in daily shifts (as there are no "days" in C:S), and there isn't an easy way to track cims movements correctly in terms of the day. But the cims do go to one job, and one house regularly.

So a few ideas ... and problems 1) Education just isn't needed in any capacity in a gambling city ... so anything you do is just to help reduce crime. Community college might help, but I usually cover everything I need w/ a single HS. 2) How's the mass transit? Lotsa mass transit near the attractions tends to help the crowds out a lot! 3) Tourism can be inconsistent in numbers, but landmarks tend to help stabilize a steady population of them. Use a combo of landmarks and attractions to draw in tourists to your city. 4) Just like everything else, traffic can cripple your tourists. Think of them like a timer ... they want to get from one place to another in time, but if the timer goes off, they just leave, and no one replaces them. The entry to your city needs to be smooth, there needs to be plenty of transit options, and cross-town traffic between attractions, shops, and hotels needs to be fluid. 5) On top of all of this ... I've heard rumors of a medium-wealth tourist bug, though I've never experienced this myself. It does something where the medium tourists become "ghosts" and are just unregisterable. I don't know what causes it, what the work around is, and how legit it really is ... but I've heard that the tourist-trap attractions might be involved somehow? GL
