If I remember right, modding for Tropico 3 is technically possible, but officialy restricted. Otherwise, an excellent reboot of a classic. If anyone is interested, there are a few mods for Tropico 1. Search Google.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say Spore is pretty good. I agree it was not as awesome as it could of been, however, I still play it often. In fact, I'd probably be playing it right now if it wasn't for all the good users getting banned for minor offenses. The Galactic Adventures expansion pack actuallly makes the space stage worth trying, and you can make your own missions for others to play. GA really got me back into the game for a long while. Along with SC4, it is probably the game I have played the most. BTW, if anyone is interested, my current account is GalacticGodWee (Look it up on the Sporepedia.) Edit: I forgot to add, but the new patches are great. I have never had any problems with limited numbers of installs or the DRM.

I have played both CL and CXL (I was in the beta). CXL was more realistic, but CL was far more stable. I was never able to master either of them. The off-angle roads were genious, however. SimCity 5 should have this feature.

Here is my region, Megaopolis. Few mods were used. I may turn this into a CJ once I grow it some more.

Downtown Redwood & the capitol

I loved this CJ before, but now it's even better! The political ads are hilarious, and the city looks awesome. I especially like the trees in the center of the avenue in picture #5. -
Very impressive work! I love it.

I should have posted about this unusual problem I have several years ago. I have mild OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) and Asperger's Syndrome (an autism spectrum disorder), and these primarily becomes an issue when I play SimCity and similar games. I can start a city, but once I end the first session, I go nuts! I always find a flaw and concentrate on it so much, I abandon the city I am working on! I used to simply delete them, now they just sit on the hard drive, never to be touched again. I have been battling this problem ever since I discovered Simtropolis and all the wonderful plugins availible for SC4. I'll take a look at the incredible cities and regions made by members of the community and say to myself, "Gee, I'd love to make something like that!" However, it feels like I'm trying to compare my work to others, and I always view my work as inferior! To be truthful, I really don't know what to do, as I have tried all different kinds of OCD coping strategies, and none of them have worked for more than a few days. I no longer see the problem as just an OCD issue, but also as a game related issue. Sorry for the long post, but I would greatly appreciate advice and guidance from the community, peferably someone with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Asperger's Syndrome. I love SimCity and would hate to have to stop playing.

Thank you for the replies! I usually go with minimal plugins anyway, because it's such a hassle to download them all! I will certainly try these strategies! Duke87: Usually, its something with the layout of the city that gets to me, especially if it sticks out on the region view. That often triggers my OCD. Edit: I started a new region shortly after posting this. Using your suggestions, I have so far managed to play the game successfully and not drive myself crazy. Thank you very much for everyone's kind, helpful advice.

My relatives live in the real Dubuque, IA, and I have been there several times. It is a nice little city. Your version of Dubuque, by the way, is one of the most realistic cities I have ever seen in SimCity!

Hello again. I need help. NAM is a wonder, but I have a problem. The custom highway pieces work, but the pathfinding portion doesen't seem to work. I play for a few minutes, then I start seeing abondonment zots. When I query an abandoned building, it says abandonend due to commute time even though I have the better pathfinding *20 commute time. Also, I see abandoned buildings with a workplace nearby. The people go really far even with a workplace next door! What is going on?
-
So I take it nobody knows what's going on here?
-
As far as I can tell, no one has had the problem I'm having. I did everything to install NAM properly. I moved the folder with all the uninstalled parts of NAM, I followed the directions, I even made a folder for all the plugins I wanted installed. I tried making a little city (pop 1000) and there were jobless zots within seconds of starting the simulation. Most of the jobless were $$$ developing early on. Please help.

I have the newest version of NAM (June 2005). The custom highway pieces are an optional feature with this version. They include new pieces (interchanges, overpasses). I have a theroy, however. The effectiveness of this mod may have something to do with the placement of the main files. Mabye the other files with NAM are interfereing with the files I've chosen, as they are both placed in the same Plugins folder.

I tried posting pictures before but it didn't work, so I can't show you. (I can't load much on Simtropolis because I have slow dial-up)
