I still like the Arcology but you have to totally change the freeways entering your city to buffer freeway traffic. It works very well for me

What would you guys think about a FARM DLC?
simmarine replied to CosmicSpeed's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Imagine if your traffic problems were caused by tractors and harvesters and tomatoe trucks. You could open strawberry fields for commerce and ketchup plants for industry. I like it -

any word on the raised avenues? -
Probably AMD processors The ports have had many issues lately from prices to just not trading goods. I used to run plants on just trade through the port but now I use the depots because they are more reliable. good luck

wish we still had agriculture
simmarine replied to elPhysikarl352's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
wouldnt it be cool to have a small plot outside the white lines that could only be used for agriculture. Not a huge plot for another city, just a small square with some water perhaps where you could grow food. -

This is an idea many companies use of course. I was on a panel with nvidia discussing this but we felt the demographic could not be reached and make a profit from it. This was hardware and not software but the fact that so many people have talked about it tells me its working great -

I have played maybe 10 cities and have been successful as far as not crashing or burning to the ground. I use the mining or resources to make money or just import everything and make money which is too easy. I have tried the casino and tourist but found them impossible to make money even when starting with a 10 million dollar gift. The funny thing is the bugs are what make it more interesting, especially traffic because it's a huge problem to solve and makes it interesting. I think if the maps are larger you could make more but I think the challenge would go away and huge billion dollar TV towns would rise across the land. Adding multiple freeway entrances would also make it to easy to make tons of money. I think the money made from producing goods should be far lower and challenging and would require a great deal more strategy to have a successful city. How about a hard level city or region where you have no natural resources and the costs of business are more and computers only get you 50k . This would at least make it more of a challenge and more fun but that is just me. I'm totally looking forward to some of the bugs in tourism to be fixed but maybe just a little and not dumb it down to make people happy but take all the skill out of it. I know many people have complained about the game but I have spent easily 150 hours having fun and giving up sleep. I even took over the big flat screen which I highly recommend and that was worth the price of the game itself. I know they will fix the bugs and add DLC's which I will buy just like all the other games I love that have DLC's that I bought. I started with pong and loved it so the games we have today are so far beyond what I started with just boggles my mind. I will close with the game has bugs and it will get better and I will still buy them and I will support the very companies who release beta games as some say because I want them to make more games. I say fix the bugs but keep the game challenging and not make it easy to satisfy the whiners..... my 2 cents, Nick

Hope I'm not missing something here but you can click on the "guides" button and toggle if you want grid lines when you go to build a road. It pops up on the lower left when you choose to build roads. It is next to the road upgrade button. Is this what you are talking about ?

Coal mines closed at full capacity.
simmarine replied to CodFace's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Agree with Yamofo, watch to see if your trucks are getting stalled anywhere and check to see if your trade depot lots are balanced. One other thing I have tried is to change a road or even add a dirt road near a site. It seems to change how the game uses traffic and you might get lucky and find the balance. -
Monthly profit go's ups and down

Okay One thing you have to be careful with is what upgrades you choose as your HQ grows so you will need the MIning HQ and the smelting division so how do you get that. Depending on what you already have chosen could help or hurt you but lets not get into that. One thing I would look at first is your depots because I see you have both unless I'm mistaken. The Trading port storage lots hold 5 times the lots of a depot so consolidate everything you can as you may be way out of whack with storage which is wasted resources. I see you have a Freight rail terminal which is good but if you have the ability and of course water on your map the cargo ship docks move twice as much freight because trading happens every 180 minutes at a cargo ship dock and every 360 minutes at a feight terminal. You have to squeeze every penny out of your shipping and trading to get to that trading goal so you can get a smelting division on your HQ and build a smelting factory. If trucks from the outside of your city get stalled in traffic then your trading slows down which lowers your trading money. One thing I did which was more drastic was to dump population by raising taxes which helped with traffic issues. One other thing I do on my mining cities is I make no effort to educate or raise the standard of living as you need poor stupid people to work the mines. In my opinion a trading city is like a sweat shop which makes you a rich bad mayor. Screw the popularity, make money and grow. Good Luck. One last thing if you dont know. You do not have to bulldoze the who trade port to change storage yards, you can just use the bulldozer on specific one. If I remember correctly when you are looking at your port in bulldoze mode you can select the bulldozer again (think its yellow at this point) and choose individual storage yards to bulldoze. -
I have a plan that should add some challenge. I will turn over my city to my 9 year old for an hour and not watch was he does. He tends to build fully loaded police station for one criminal, all cars, helos, max cars, etc. Then after an hour if the city is still alive i will try and save it. That should add some challenge, especially when he spends all the money.

Chill a bit there kgpurrs, just asking a question here. I will admit that the tourism maps are more difficult but maybe its just me. Now as far as bugs go you may want to read the forums a bit more but that's just my opinion. I do like the idea of the 600k challenge, have to try that next.

Well I would think the Upper left or the bottom of the map. Upper left having Pioneer plains and Bottom having Mustang flat. The reasons I'm thinking are they are flatter so you will naaed to have an airport so space is a premium and the other areas like the upper right and top have more challenging terrain . The upper left maps have river access so you could bring tourists in by boat which would really help your city succeed. I would go to the upper left myself just for the river access but thats my opinion.

How many cities or regions have you built?1
simmarine posted a topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I was just wondering how many cities and or regions you have built yourself. My count for regions that I have done all the cities is only 1 but that region only have 5 cities in it. After that i have 6 more for a total of 11. Something tells me I'm way behind some of you all. -

Patch 3.0 released
simmarine replied to Rufus Honker IV's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I dont think we have haters but more like high expectations that are not being addressed fast enough. I would have liked the game to be better but there are so many games that have had issues at launch that i expect it. I'm looking forward to making tourist and gambling cities and pretty much wasting 100 more hours of my life but thats my choice. I have more than got my money out of this game so im just sitting back and watching it get better. If you have ever beta tested you know how incomplete a game is even near its release so just run with it. Tonight I will make another city and test the new fixes just to see if they actually change anything and then start a brand new city from scratch and test my skils. Game on -
Monthly profit go's ups and down
simmarine replied to peter86's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Remember that when it says you made 3 million (for example) this is your gross so you have to subtract you expenses. The money screen will show you what you actually made for the month in thr bottom right corner.Cob92 is right about alloy, never buy it, always import the raw resources and make it. I imported some TV's once and it cost$250,000 for 1000, not a good deal. There are 2 types of mayors, one that cares and makes less money because they build hospitals and big fire stations. Then there are the mayors that treat the sims like slaves but make more money. If you are basing your city on mining then i say, keep them poor, stupid and above all digging.
