I personally hate landfills and how long they take to decompose, and I didn't find much of anything incredibly realistic for garbage disposal on the STEX already, so I made this lot. It's based off a recycling center but it has over double the capacity and is meant to be more of a replacement for a landfill if you put a whole bunch of them around your city. Basically, it's a tiny landfill that A) you can demolish, and B) doesn't look quite as ugly (though it still has quite the NIMBY effect and still is supposed to have that "30s industrial building" look to it. Some basic stats: Population served: 50,000 (for those big cities you may need more than a few) Garbage reduced by 45% (not entirely realistic but is needed to serve as a replacement landfill) Power consumption: 10 Water consumption: 2 Pollutes the air and water around it a little bit, in a 5 meter radius around the building (nothing radioactive though...) Cleans up a heck of a lot of garbage around it, in a 100 meter radius around the building Plop cost: §8700 Demolish cost: §900 Monthly cost: §260 Lot size: 3x4 No dependencies that I know of. I tried to use only Maxis props so those of you with slow connections wouldn't be tortured by some more downloads... I'm on Simtropolis maybe every other day or so, so if you need any more information or help with this or anything else of mine, feel free to PM me, and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Enjoy! -
Nice interchanges all! (tahill79, remember to keep your pics under 800x600 though, because they might get deleted my a mod)

I got Joseph Biden, Hillary Clinton, and Mike Gravel. I've never heard of Biden or Gravel, but that's probably because I can't vote yet and because I tend to not really care as long as they're not nearly as, erm, strange, as who's currently in office.

Still very detailed and pleasing; a very well-deserved trixie! -
Should I continue to play Simcity 4 deluxe editon or play Simcity Socities?

Look at the links on the main page. It's another SimCity-type game from a different developer (Monte Cristo). It has some different gameplay but also a few killer features, but if I were you if you liked the SC4 gameplay I would wait for Cities Unlimited (also by Monte Cristo) this April-May-June-ish. http://www.focus-files.com/demos/CL2008/CL2008DEMO.exe (demo for CL 2008) -
Darn, so it's not a Christmas present... don't know why I thought that... One thing's for sure, I'm getting CU and Spore, and the City Life 08 demo is pretty cool.

Wow. Living south of DC I never really realize how bad the homicide rate in Maryland is... (Arlington, 703 area code)

My vote is for I-395/295 into DC. I-395 changes to 295 and the SE/SW Freeway, goes right by the captiol... which is covered by the ugliest power plants, railroad tracks, and Verizon buildings known to man. There seems like there is a wreck every other day and often traffic gets backed up so bad getting 3 miles takes you 20 minutes. By the way, a few days ago near DC a truck hauling fat or grease or something left a hatch open underneath the truck, spilling a streak of slippery goo 20 miles down I-95, causing 4 wrecks and lots of spinouts.

Great pictures, keep it up! To get rid of the menu bar when taking screenshots, press ctrl-alt-S or something... less obtrusive and makes the shots look reeeeally nice. Edit: actualy, I think it's ctrl-shift-S, try both...

Mmm, very hard decision now between CL 08 and CU... Only thing I still don't like about CL is the sidewalks, they are strangely wide...

OK, I searched the forums and I didn't find anything else like this problem I have: I load up my city, start building, hit play, whatever. I save the game, do something else for a little while, then come back to the city... and 85% of the stuff I did is all corrupted. All of the props and buildings on the lot are gone, but the base textures remain as well as the query, which works fine. Here are some pictures of what I'm talking about: That I didn't plop, it grew while I was working. The airport is especially weird, because not everything I plopped between load and save vanished - the concourses, control tower, and the flower garden, for instance. Has anyone experienced this problem before? Does anyone have a fix? Thank you so much in advance!

All of my settings are on "high," and this problem isn't exactly new; it's been happening only in this particular city for about a month now. I've removed plugins, my anti-virus as done many routine scans between then and now... this problem is verrrrry irritating! I will probably try reinstalling as a last resort when I get the time.

Personally I would give it a 2, based not only on the game but on its history and relative completion time... How could GameZone give it a freakin 8.7!?
-
The only limit I guess would be your computer. The slower your computer and the less memory you have the slower the game will go, but otherwise there is no limit.

If you're trying to open the .DAT/.SC4LOT/etc. files, you shouldn't. Move them to the My Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins folder.
