Just a quick question. I'm currently playing in a large region and I have built an international airport on one of the great works site. I have now started a new city (specializing in gambling and tourism) in another part of the region which isnt connected by land to the part which my other cities are on. My question is, will my new city benefit from that international airport, even though its not connected by road, rail or water? I have built a municipal airport in my new city...will that help connect flight traffic from the internation airport to the municipal one?

Balls! Thanks anyway!

Anyone?!

Panos is incorrect. It will be 21:00 tonight if you are in UK or Ireland and 22:00 if you are in central Europe.

Personally I think Ore is the best resource. You can export it for big profits, or build a smelting factory and either export alloy or turn them into processors, and thats where the money is! Not sure if theres the same amount of profitable options with oil.

I built a nuclear power plant and all was going fine, but after a few months it says meldown was imminint and that the workers skill level was unsafe. 1 - Why did this happen? All my sims are educated and there's lots more room in my classrooms for even more sims. 2 - I closed the power plant down, but if I was to bulldoze it would there be any consequences?
-
Not sure if its a bug or not, but firstly I have a city of 45k and I have 3 police stations, maxed out with police cars. The city is blue everywhere with police cars constantly on patrol on all streets, yet there are over 60 crimes commited per day and only 1 arrest. That just doesnt add up considering my police resources. Secondly, I have a hospital with maxed out ambulances and wellness vans, yet, I am only treating around 75% of my injured sims and about 40% of my sick sims. Considering I have a hospital with plenty of room and ambulances, why arent those figures a lot higher?
-
Well I do have quite a bit of air pollution. Yes, all my sims are well educated and I don't have any casinos. I might build that large police department with detective wing and see if that helps.
-
But if that is the case, then why are people protesting that theres too much crime?

Its clean and so helps with supporting a higher wealth city.. Higher welath cities will generally be educated...so the education facilities and tech level required will probably already be in place... Its more efficient so better $/MW and upgraded can easily support 3-4 non specialilsed cities.... The only benefit you suggested is actually a work around and doesnt really add to the game in any way.... Could you elaborate on that point? I was actually thinking of doing it but not quite sure what you meant by it being a ''work around''. and not adding to the game. Thanks. I suppose what s/he meant is that the game is not really designed to have one city stalled in time. One way or other, it may not be cheating, it is cutting a slack. Ah ok, I see what you mean now. Thanks.

I dont have a problem with fires though.

Where has everyone gone?!!

Just to update this, I built a university and now have 4 education hats, but more importantly I have full tech level. However, I switched the Nuclear Power Plant back on and it still said the workforce was unsafe and that a meltdown was imminint, so I turned it off again. Whats the problem here if the tech level is full?
-
Thanks for the replies. I won't get a chance to play it until saturday at the earliest. I could have sworn I had at least 4 education hats, but I don't think I had any tech ones.

I'm in a spot of bother it would seem. I have run out of cash in one of my cities and have also used up all three bonds. Just before I went bankrupt, I sent a gift of money from a neighbouring city to the bankrupt one. However, I'm now in the pause mode and cant continue until I get out of the red, which simply isnt possible unless I receive my gift. Will the gift deliver even though I'm in the pause mode, or is that city now basically a right off seeing as theres no other way out of the red?
-
Cheers Mud, I'm going to go with this solution seeing as i've no buildings or roads or anything! Delighted there's a way around it!
-
Ok, so this morning I accepted that I wasnt going to receive the money and knew I had to start from scratch. Then a new, even more annoying problem occured! In order to 'restart' the city, I had to bulldoze everything. However, even though I had bulldozed everything I was still unable to do anything with it because of the 1700 odd quid I was still paying off for the bonds. So, effectively, this city is now deemed unusable unless we restart the entire region as there is simply no other way of moving on from the pause mode. I love this game, but my God there are some serious flaws with it which need addressing.
-
That's a remarkable flaw of the game! Surely that has to be addressed at some point?? I shouldn't have to start from scratch just because I left it late. It should go through whether on pause mode or not. That really is very very frustrating.
-
I did exactly that though. I got the message saying that money had been sent, then when I went back into my city (I had about 45 minutes game time left before I went bankrupt) and the gift of money hadnt arrived in time. Now I cant resume time unless I somehow turn -18k into the green. Is there any way around this? It would be ridiculous if there isnt..
-
I'm not one bit techie, but my laptop (HP Pavillion DV7) which is two years old can only run the game on its lowest graphics settings. Not ideal at all and feels like a completely different game to what everyone else is playing. I still have great fun on it though!

I know by playing in Sandbox mode you can decide not to have disasters in your city. But what about when you're not in Sndbox mode? Is there a way to turn them off?
-
Sandbox mode just isnt the same IMO. It feels like you're cheating, considering the amount of money you start off with.
-
Having just done some research, it is not possible to turn disasters off in normal mode. This is wrong IMO. Disasters such as fires is all well and good, but I dont want to have to play sandbox mode just to avoid meteors and lizards destroying my city.
