  1. Streets around Events Center and Pro Stadium

When I first started running events at my pro stadium in one of my bigger cities, I had a solid mass of peds walking that loop for DAYS before they eventually cleared out of the city
  2. rci Fixing your city: reading the charts

sorry OP, but all RC cities are definitely not a myth or some trick that inevitably collapses. I've never tried an all-RC region, but if I have some industry in a neighbour city its not hard at all to make a sustainable all-RC city. And it doesn't require any sort of strategic bulldozing.
  3. Simtowns vs Simcities

starting to try this more as well, just to keep the game fresh. Blasting through a 2x2 plot as quick as you can to top out in some kind of specialization, or max out your pop, really gets old fast in this sim city and is not fun at all. the best screen shots ive seen of this game are of people who make small, realistic looking towns. as you said OP, the big cities in this game NEVER look realistic, and it kills the fun for me.
  4. delete your other schools if you haven't already, and then just keep increasing pop i guess. If you have all the mass transit options then the only other factors really are alternative education options and total number of students in the town or region.
  5. That was fixed ages ago and the traffic issue is clearly the biggest issue now. The loss of cities hasn't happened in weeks. Unless data corrupts upon transfer but no amount of patches can stop that. If you're never getting 100k visitors a day in your city causing traffic problems, you're doing something wrong! I wouldn't say it was fixed ages ago... the server issues and losing cities is definitely better than it was, but I just lost a city again yesterday just as I was about to finish my arco great work.
  6. Resource trade cap?

been having this problem since launch, but noticing it especially now that I can actually play the game long enough to get into late-game region play. I have a city of about 260k which only buys its utilities from my other cities, and they have plenty of extra power, water, garbage etc but at a certain point it says my city is only purchasing like 40/250 mw available, but im running at a deficit of like 35 mw and it never goes away.
  7. I do hate the way the budget deficit system works now though. even with a big city sometimes you can get a little careless and mismanage your budget with gifts or whatever, and if youre running a city where your hourly income is negative but you make big profits off trade, sometimes you have bad timing with a spending spree and the well runs dry before your next export shipment. Then you have to jack up taxes or shut down a bunch of buildings in the city for a bit if you don't have any bonds available, and it's just dumb. It should just give you some kind of warning and say that you can't spend any money while you're in the red, but let the game keep running so you can get your gifts from another city or export your goods.
  8. as I reread this thing from bradshaw, the point that irks me the most is right at the end, where she says yes we could have made an offline mode as well, but we rejected it because we didn't want to focus on a single city in isolation. Uh... why the hell couldn't you have made the game EXACTLY THE SAME AS IT IS NOW with different cities interacting with each other, sharing services, gifting and trading etc, but have it offline? Since when does an offline mode automatically equate to "single city in isolation?" Even SC4 had region play and some interaction between cities. And she goes on to say that many of the old fans of the series were asking for that. Again... whaaat? Nobody's asking for just one giant city in isolation with no region play at all... people just want to play the game without being tied to your $%&^! servers.
  9. Omar comin. If Omar came to my SimCity, he would be my only effective way of eliminating the criminals I already have. With the traffic ai as it is now, Herc and Carver are always stuck in a traffic jam leaving the station, and my police force gets nothing done.
  10. Why roundabouts are cool

I would hate to live in that town. Few things in life irritate me more than having to sit at a red light when I'm the only damn car on the road in the middle of the night
  11. Assuming the contiguous tile thing was done properly, where we could make our own neighbour connections of ANY sort, that would be the thing to put in. I agree with everyone else who thinks the tile sizes as they are now are embarrassingly small, but the odds that they are going to increase from 2x2 to anything that would be a worthwhile upgrade are very small (if they were that close to making 8x8 tiles work, why would they have only put in these friggin LSD tab-sized plots into the game?) But making the tiles side by side seems like it should be a lot more workable. And to all the people saying they just want to build one city and not multiple cities to make one big one... the way this game works where you can share services and commute workers and so on, multiple tiles side by side doesn't have to be thought of as multiple cities. It's basically different neighbourhoods of the same city, with the slight annoyance of a loading screen in between sections.
  12. Just wanted to repeat this part for massive amounts of truth, which the few EA/SC defenders remaining seem to be ignoring: Its not just the server problems! The issues hindering this game are not a bunch of temporary quick-fix problems! And its stupidly fanboyish at this point to be slagging reviewers for hitting this game with scores like 5.0 or whatever.... you can say that me, and zades and board marshall and people like us are just giving our opinions and that we dont speak for the majority, but dude, LOOK AROUND! This is exactly what the majority is saying! Look at any review site or forum about the game if you dont believe me. If you're enjoying the game, good for you. Honestly I'm happy for you.
  13. I hope to god that this isn't the 'fixed' version of traffic. If anything it seemed worse to me today and I got worried at first that the patch somehow created more problems, but the longer I watch things play out, it seems to just be the same old laughably awful stuff, like buses just looping up and down the same stretch of road endlessly and ignoring half the city. One new issue I noticed today for the first time... the traffic lights in one of my major intersections didn't change for many many in-game hours. I didn't notice exactly when the problem started, but I zipped through probably 5-6 hours watching this intersection between a streetcar ave and a high density ave. I understand that higher densities are meant to have the right of way so I expect the streetcar ave to be green more often, but traffic had piled up to the end of my city in both directions on the other road, and the light remained red as I said for hours and hours. There were like 10 ambulances and 10 firetrucks in the jam as well, so I took a big ratings and pop hit as a bunch of the city burned and people got sick and moved away. SC13 is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get, and if you sit there and watch it for long enough it all melts down into a big sticky mess.
  14. Some SimCity reviews

I think the all-nighters for SC13 are a result of people wanting to get as much play time in while the thing is actually working for a continuous period of time, rather than actually being completely enthralled with the game. That is certainly the case for me, and now that I have actually been able to play for a decent amount of time I'm finding the game so incredibly limiting that I'm already feeling like Ive seen and done all I want to in this game.
  15. SimCity Is Going Strong!

I keep having this same problem. It seems like however much power there is available in the city im buying from when I begin buying, that's how much there is available forever. So if I start city B, and it buys power from city A, which has 150mw available, once city B gets built up and is consuming all 150 mw I can go back to city A and increase power capacity as much as I want, but there's still only 150 mw available to buy when I go back to city B
