  1. That's why we can't have nice things. Pls gib.
  2. Time really does fly...

Now after over 1 year from my "forum retirement", just when I'm little obsessed with Cities:Skylines, I thought it'd be a good idea how's old forum fares. Oh, boy, with completely new design it really feels like completely new place. And SC4 community still going strong...
  3. Your Browser of Choice?

    Opera 12.16 for enormous customization options. If sth do not work, then Opera 18 (also known as Chropera). Firefox - not enough strange features I use w/o extensions, tends to be slow; Chrome - fast, but lacks in customization and advanced options;
  4. How do you drop the dirty industry bar?

    A) Build more I-D (doh); B) Educate your slave... I mean citizens.
  5. Plot twist: Simnation is Discworld.
  6. 1. 18k vacant jobs vs 20k population - mind that not everyone living in city is considered as workforce. At beginning, on low health value it's like 40% of total population. 2. As their education level/EQ is rising Sims prefer "cleaner" and better paid jobs, I-D doesn't belong to that group. More I-M is what you need if you don't plan on using commerce in your industrial city(TIP: Commerce goes extremely together well in residential sectors) or even I-HT, but latter needs clean air.
  7. crime at the airport

    The more you know...
  8. crime at the airport

It's plague touching all big lots, if I'm not mistaken Crime Rate is calculated per tile of building, not lot as whole.
  9. Rail commute

But it can be quickly&easily edited with SC4Tool.
  10. What difficulty settings do you play?

Hard with 500,000 simo-$ as starting money; best of both worlds.
  11. [Metal Cover] Gwyn, Lord of Cinder - "Dark Souls OST"
  12. Standard traffic controller is highly ineffective, NAM is pretty much required to any serious play. As infamous said, install only traffic controller, if lag is unbearable. That's a blasphemy, what you've said just now D:
  13. As overall education of your sims rise demand for I-D drops and if you are able to decrease pollution and increase terrain desirability by planting trees for example (or old good bulldozing), there's big chance that I-D will get "promoted" to I-M or even I-HT. As for me I don't bother with I-D anymore, CS$-CS$$ and civic buildings are good, non-polluting job providers, though city doesn't expand as fast as with heavy industry present.
  14. [Crow's Claw] - Ironheart from "Resonance Of The Nickel Strings" Genre: Power/Prog Metal
  15. Almost exclusively Industry-only city? Been there, done that. Pollution is non-factor only if it's pure I-HT city, or when you create districts in city (for I-D, I-M and I-HT), or/and when you plant a lot of trees or use custom lots eating away excessive pollution. Only drawback - you have to have a lot of COM buildings in one of near tiles, to keep job balance of job diversity through region.
  16. It's EA you talk about; they'd rather resell their old games as overpriced DLCs or make'em freeware (like it happened with glorious C&C:RA, just before EA started their DRM madness) than open sourced it
  17. Hoho, case similar to mine. I had situation like that with almost every game I could mod.
  18. Question about pedestrian tiles

Never tried such idea, but considering game mechanics it would work as long as you would be able to tunnel/redirect traffic to/through your original CBD. Doesn't matter for Sims if they travel on foot, in car or via mass transport, they only care for speed and getting to destination in shortest route. So, yeah, GLR/Sub or maybe even Monorail would work wonders, parkings too with adjacent bus/sub stops.
  19. HoMM3 Complete + In The Wake of Gods + HD Mod = Yes!

  20. What happen to my elevated OWR curve?

If I would be in OP's shoes I'd try if changing this particular part rotation+position in Lot Editor would help.
  21. Question about pedestrian tiles

COM zones can be surrounded only by ped malls and still be used, >BUT< you need to put a transit stop like Bus/Subway stop on tile adjacent to one of ped malls. Pedestrian traffic is unable to move from street into ped mall directly.
  22. [FreQuency (From Sound Records)] - Silent Line (OP-INTENSIFY) from "Sunrise" Genre: Electronic, Game OST arrangement
  23. I'm pretty sure it's one of things that are hardcoded in game, like lots of other stuff related to bridges.
  24. I've moved some time ago from XP 32bit to 7 64bit. All copied cities and plugins from old system works flawlessly. Just don't forget, as Boom said, to update game before starting it for the first time.
  25. In most of cases - mass R$$$ building dilapidation due to lack of jobs for $$$-class citizens. I could give you a few tips, though I'm not an expert in this problem as preventing almost completely R$$$ dilapidation is only thing I couldn't work out in SC4. Anyway my ideas: education - long term solution, but better educated Sims can work in more places; zoning COM/IND (depends on which one is highest in demand) in given city or neighboring one; more transport options, especially complex subway network if you have enough of monthly income to support it.
