  1. It doesn't seem like you would need one but I wondered if anyone knew different.
  2. That'a awesome I might try that I'm out of ideas for what to do in my city I'm kind of stuck.
  3. Not a bad idea but I already have pretty huge hi-tech industrial demand. I have a city of 110k and I also added the science wing to the university which increases demand to industry. I bet probably earlier in the game that would have been a good idea though I will keep that in mind for next time.
  4. Yeah it seems like if you build it in an industrial sector it cna help the industrial desirability, but yeah I'm pretty sure other than that the University far surpasses it in all other ways.
  5. Haljackey Reviews SimCity (2013)

Where is your Ontario accent? It's barely distinguishable. You spending too much time down south. Good review. Have to agree. Disappointing release. Especially considering it's been such a childhood classic. Best we can hope for is patches.
  6. Air Pollution Problems

I know traffic is one of the main sources of pollution for commercial and residential if your roads are packed you might consider mass transit to get a few cars off the road. But other than that I'm not sure what to tell you.
  7. Nice logic. Not. If he claims to like the game it would sell more thus more profits thus more cut. He may like the game but don't be "surprised" when he endorses a product which is the means by which he makes his living. And what? Could he say he didn't like it? I'll bet you there's some kind of clause in his contract where he couldn't say a game was terrible.
  8. Doesn't he get a cut of profit as the original creator if EA publishes whatever Maxis software is on the market? Of course he's behind the new direction.
  9. If you aren't playing on sandbox mode, when your city incinerates 100,000 tons of garbage you unlock some kind of 'ferocious lizard monster destroyer' or something like this. And immedietly a lizard messes up your city. It took out my high wealth residential area as well as my fully upgraded hospital, fully upgraded elementary school, and fully upgraded police station. (Then the game crashed for some reason.) Anyway, I don't want to know what happens when you incinerate 200,000 tons of trash. Is there any way to avoid this? I know you can just let it pile up in a garbage heap I guess? You can only do that so long though. My hunch is the disater associated with burning a lot of trash is a SimCity incentive to be doing something other than incinerate because it is so polluting. Like some other in-game option. But myabe not. I know I can't think of what it is.
  10. Yep, no mention of a one-time "lifetime acheivement" though eh? Does that mean it happens everytime? I hope not.
  11. I think they're okay. They cut down on trash that saves money. And gives you some extra resources. Recylcing isn't really profitable in real life either.
  12. I'm not sure I only got to play for 3 minutes before I got kicked off. If I get back on I will check that. Also, I didn't see "burn 100,000 tons of garbage" as a lifetime acheivement anywhere. So that could be bad news.
  13. You know what the good thing is though? I just noticed the Lizard goes to your garbage dump and eats all your trash you have stored in your dump. So that's I guess nice...
  14. One thing I thought of. Since it was not in sandbox mode, maybe it only happens once. Since it is a 'lifetime acheivement.' It won't happen everytime you burn 100,000 tons in every city you start. Just when you first earn the lifetime acheivement. Yeah, what he said.
  15. I don't disagree. If you didn't know EA games has been voted in a Consumerist Magazine poll the "worst company in America." Worse than Wal-Mart or Bank of America or any of them. I just think it's really stupid to think you can get a class action lawsuit just because the servers weren't working perfectly right away. Especially considering they are attempting to fix it. And they aren't making some kind of wild profit by having servers down either. In three months you may have a case.
  16. Actually it looks like he moves toward your garbage from wherever he spawns! Yeah come to think of that is what my guy was doing too. Started at one edge of the map amd moved slowly towards the incinerator. I'm sorry but that's really, really dumb It's dumb if you can't do anything about it. I thought it was cool at first if it was like an incentive to clean up the air or use an alternative method of dealing with trash but yeah if you just get your city wrecked for doing something you -have- to do like burning you trash yeah that is pretty lame man that's not even fun or entertaining at all.
  17. If it doesn't work in 3 months maybe... They are issueing patches as we speak. I just posted about it. It's annoying but you don't have to freak out it's not like it's in their interest for this to be happening.
  18. It's a cool game just the servers are messed up. It'll come around.
  19. "It's been confirmed that after 100,000 tonnes of garbage is burned, the lizard monster comes!" Hahahaha does he go straight for your most valuable part of the city?? Like he did for me>???
  20. I had a recycle plant fully maxed. Can you get to a point where you recycle literally every single thing in your city and there is no trash? Neighbors would be nice if I had any. Burying it sounds nice too...if maps werne't so small... Ah I see. I didn't think you could recycle everything.
  21. are you kidding me?

I think someone posted something kinda similar to this earlier today?? Maybe. I could be wrong.
  22. I'm making 7,000 an hour and am sitting on about 300k. I only have one elementary school that teaches like 170 kids. One hospital. One police station. My population is just over 30,000. But yeah man, it's pretty easy to get income. Way easier than SC4. Of course if I do something stupid it goes downhill in a hurry, but I'm not going to lie this game is a lot easier at least finance-wise. There's really nothing I can't afford to buy within just a little bit of time if I want it. A bit different from SC4. I'm making this off of 80% low wealth commercial and residential. And just a small corner of low wealth industrial. It seems like the main challenge for SimCity 2013 is population and traffic. Population of course because the map is so small. I'm half way filled the map and only at 30k residents not sure how I will get it to maximum levels. So population challenges more than financial challenges in my opinion. And also traffic again due to small space grid-lock is hard to avoid since you're trying to be efficient. Kind of cool. The smaller map and easier money making I think make the game more about actual ingenious city building and development.
  23. No but if you don't play in Sandbox mode you get disasters. I burned 100,000 tons of garbage in the incinerator which unlocked the crazy lizard disaster or something like that. Destroyed my high wealth downtown district, my hospital, my school, and then it made the game crash. So that is hard mode I guess. Not going in sandbox mode.
  24. Yeah it seems the gridlock is my problem too at this point. None of my services can get anywhere. I still have ample services and plenty of income. Maybe that will change once I get higher. I'm at 50,000 and still wildly profitable. Just traffic murdering me now.
  25. Sorry, your city is lost... I was able to log in to, started a city, but about 1 minute in got that red message on the top left. Let me play for 15 minutes before booting me. 99.99% sure the city state is lost from the time of the disconnect, would make sense. YEah that woudl suck beause I played for a few hours and had that red message after a few minutes. I would 'like' your post because it is helpful, but I dislike the implications enough to where that is not even possible for me to do. I have had that red message before after a couple minutes and i got booted after a couple hours. when i logged back in my city was fine except for a couple little changes. not sure how but hope this gives at least a little hope. Yeah me too. I was on Queue for Oceanis, but when it said pick another server I just picked Oceanis again and it let me right in. My city is still there. I didn't lose any of it even though the red message was there for at least an hour. Maybe that doesn't happen everytime but it definietly didn't erase my city.
