  1. I knew the tiles were smaller but WOW, I am amazed just how little room we have, it's embarassing releasing sim city in 2013 and have such limited build space, forget about building a good size city, heck small town as all you will get. The graphics are also fairly poor my 3 year old PC doesnt even break a sweat. No excuse for EA to release the game with such a restriction. It seems even smaller then the medium tiles in SC4, by far, due to how zonig works and the invisible walls at the borders.
  2. If they do these things and continue to tweak the simulation the game may finally begin to live up to the hype: http://www.videogamer.com/pc/simcity/news/simcity_offline_mode_may_be_coming_survey_suggests.html
  3. University dorms

What do these do? know during launch they said not to use them because they were not working right, have then been fixed now?
  4. I am playing SC again for the first time in months, and am wondering if they changed how education worked. BEfore all you needed was a university and all students went to that, you didn't need a grade or high school. HAs this changed? Also, I noticed despite my population being highly educated, many factories keep saying not enough skilled workers, is this because there is no college for medium wealth jobs and my sims are only going to high wealth high tech jobs? THis was a big issue I had before and assumed it would be working much better now. Do you now need high schools and colleges?
  5. University dorms

They give you students? I thought it was existing students not having to travel and staying in them, also cutting down on traffic.
  6. Police, Fire & EMS Services.

Totally agree, traffic is still a major mess after being patched numerous times. I can see why the maps are so small, the simulation would break if your population got higher.
  7. Education/Unskilled workers question

Wouldnt the smart thing to do would be to drop the cost of education buildings? I actually have no issue with having 3 buildings and still raking in the money.... Wish they did a better job with education and skilled workers, it's a mess right now., All my sims are educated, and I have way more residential then industry but they always have issues finding skilled workers. Sad to see after a bunch of patches the game has a long way to go.
  8. Busses & City Services cars

Traffic and services are still a mess after a bunch of patches. It might be decent by 2015.
  9. Discussion about City Tile Size

No it's not instead of improvement we got a massive step backwards, not rocket science. People expect improved features mechanics, not less, and a broken mess to boot.
  10. Discussion about City Tile Size

Actually, most of the features people want are from SC4, but if you want to call it a step forward in simulation, and that's your angle, cool. Actually, I didn't say I like micro-maps. You'd have to first define micro, and then show me where I said I liked them. This won't happen. I am ok with the map size but slightly bigger would be fine too. People want what was taken away from SC4 yes, it's not an outlandish request, why take great features away? This new sim city is very limiting compared to 4. Also, no people do not want 4, they wanted an improvement on that. Instead we got a step backwards in almost every direction and features taken away. Also, the Simulation is horribly broken, so stop this better simulation garbage. Just like EA, take features away, then add them back in like they did something great. The size of the maps currently are a joke, especially with the large buildings and curved roads.
  11. I don't think Maxis has confirmed any of this yet. They want to change the tile size to a bigger tile [link], but the problem is that most normal computers can't handle this. We got to wait a bit longer I guess. PC's can handle this fine...............you don't know what you are talking about. This game is not demanding, and users can turn down some settings on bigger maps. The always online is why this game is so limited, not local PC;s.
  12. They do this is madden all the time.
  13. Update 6.0 release notes

Yeah... I have no idea who they plan to make it work considering firstly, just how many jobs it requires because RCI isn't at all balanced when it comes to workers and jobs. And secondly this patch is going to break almost every single city people have made because I wasn't required. They have no idea what they are doing.
  14. Yes if they add this it will THEN be worth it, sadly I am thinking this will be an expansion, that they will charge for. Friggin EA. should come free considering how bad this game really was at launch. Tile size alone is ridiculous. As much as I hate saying it I would be willing to pay the price for an expansion if it includes all that in the list plus some more. Does anyone know who sent the survey out? Who it was sent to? Etc This is a very pertinent question. A significant proportion of fans will be on this site, so assuming this is real I'd expect the odd user from here to say they've received it. If that proves a negative then I'd assume this is vapourware for the moment. I really, really hope not. Implementing that lot would go a long way to sorting several significant issues. Then, fix the agent system and we have a game! I'm sure they will implement these. Surely they must know that this is what the community wants. They must surely be on these forums constantly, reading and observing?!?! I have criticised this game relentlessly but like I said make these changes and you will win over lost fans hearts and more importantly their hard earned cash however, continue the way you are going and well this games fan base will drop dramatically and interest will fade out. I have noticed this forum going very quite until updates etc and that goes to show sc2013 needs something major to boost it. The suggestions on the questionnaire all seem priceless. Lets hope they are out by September. Maybe the new EA GM has realised the potential cash cow this game has to offer if he wins the community over..... The issue is if EA charges for it. It would be an insult to the sim city community, these things should have been there from day 1. Instead they were more concerned trying to shove the always online crap which has limited and crippled the game at launch. If they charge for this I will officially never play an EA sim city game again. I speak with my wallet. THe community wanted these things 1-2 years before launch and EA ignore the fans.
  15. Update 6.0 release notes

Maybe check your system settings, I play for much longer than that without any issues. Pretty small update but good to see they are creating variation in building size height and fixing the RCI on roads issue. • UI Clarity: Show which city hall modules are already placed in the region on the palette UI. This is also a huge improvement. Give me a break...I am a systems architect, it only happened after 5.0 (Many others also if you check EA's forum), it's because of the update, MY PC works perfectly fine with every other game/software and is very well maintained.

  17. Update 6.0 release notes

Game is crashing every 20-30 mins since update 5.0.....Don't see that even mentioned.
  18. Discussion about City Tile Size

The game feels half complete with such tiny tiles, and the retarded thing is so many larger buildings take up a huge amount of space. It was retarded to launch a SC game in 2013 with such puny maps.
  19. I bulldozed a few rows of buildings to make room for my airport, tried to attach a pic but file was too big. BAsically there are tiny left of pieces of the building left in the ground, cannot bulldoze it or remove it, now I cannot plop my airport. IS this a bug? Anyone else see this?
  20. Discussion about City Tile Size

Agreed. Bigger Tiles that are contiguous in a offline mode would fix a-lot of what ales this game. It woul help, but i disagree the Ai and simulation need to be fixed, map size won't help with either.
  21. Patch 2.0 notes leaked?

Absolute garbage, it has zero to do with current PC's, and no Windows 7 is now more popular then XP, and what does XP have to do with anything? They did this because of the server BS, nothing else.
  22. Patch 2.0 notes leaked?

Thanks god they are trying to fix education it is horrible right now. Now we need much bigger maps.
  23. WTF? Has anyone had this issue, just lost a city I had spent many hours building. It said the servers were having trouble processing the city, said I had to rollback, when I did it is now disappeared. THis is why Always only and cloud saves just are not a good idea.
  24. Agents & traffic - hopeless system

No it doesn't and it makes no sense.
  25. RCI This guy does a good job of summing up how bad this game is designed. Basically Sims always re-fill R zones at the same rate no matter how bad and miserable your city is, forgoing any challenge or any real reason to play or any need to care about strategy. I guess its just more confirmation they are going after the farmville audience who just wants to build a city without any challenge. Only reason to play is to watch the pretty city, zero depth. This alone ruins the game , but there is a lot more wrong. Can build an entire city of happy sims without I or C. Make a cesspool horrible city no fear the game is designed for sims to automatically fill R zones....... That's real depth LMAO. Wealth is a mess. Last I checked high wealth residents still shop at regular stores to..In this game it is horribly simplistic, high wealth only shop at high wealth places, this is idiotic. Only high wealth residents will shop at high wealth places, but they also shop at medium wealth places. I see rich people all the time at the corner store..... Fake Population: The actual population of your city is way lower then the fake one the game shows you, there is never enough workers to fill jobs even though you barely have any jobs to begin with. Traffic: The last patch made it slightly better, at this rate it will take 5 patches more just to make traffic as good as NAM in SC4.. Emergency vehicles, buses are stupid, take wrong routes, circle intersections. 5 fire trucks go to 1 house fire while a skyscraper burns down........ One entrance into a city causes a bottleneck, limited train connections with no ability to expand them. Water: Water runs out way too fast, 1 year my water rich city is dry, been living here 35 years city never once ran out of water. Can use the sewage treatment plant as a work around but it's still idiotic design. Disasters: Not being able to turn off disasters is idiotic, another pointless restriction on players. The frequency of these is a mess. Went a full day without one then had 4 in 20 minutes, a lizard, Tornado, earthquake and zombies, all cost me 600000 plus, My stadium, University and other expensive buildings gone. Luckily the game is so easy all you have to do is watch sims auto fill every building again because they do not care what a cesspool your city is. Education - In Simcity 5 year olds go to university, meaning you do not need regular schools, yes this is stupid beyond belief. Half the time they wont go for no apparent reason, low traffic and a school right next to them but they stay not enrolled even when they can walk there...... The next day all go to one school, ignore the other, then the next the opposite happens. Better off with one school for all which again lacks any kind of challenge or common sense. Region Play - The much touted reason for pointless DRM is limited, we have no control over region design, only can trade with a couple cities in the region, doesn't even work half the time. The Region play in this game is no better then was had in 10 year old SC4, maybe worse at least that game we could have cities close together for one massive region. LAck of build space, terraforming - 2 step backwards, nothing else to say here. Crime - Keeps saying cannot keep up with crime, yet there has not been a single crime in my town in weeks............................ Buildings tied to roads - In SC, you have to delete a skyscraper to delete a piece of road, this is beyond stupid. Cloud Saves - Not going to say much here, but 2 weeks on I still get rollbacks, lost 3 cities and an entire region since launch, in-excusable. This review sums up the game, intially seems fun, but after a few hours the ugly truth starts to appear. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/03/21/wot-i-think-simcity/#more-146846 Hope you guys have fun with this game, I need something that has a little more depth then this, this game is a mockery of what Sim City should be. Good luck to you all, maybe one day with massive patching and EA's 19.99 bigger tiles DLC it will be worth playing. I do want to thank EA for 1 thing, this is the last EA game I'll ever buy, they stand for everything that is wrong with gaming today.
