Berlin - Past, present and future
Odd from Sweden replied to Erdmoebel's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
It is really starting to look very promising! Maybe the roof texture needs to be darkened down a bit if You look at the render? Hmm also the building now seem to be a bit low or sunken compared to the roof... maybe if You heigthened the bottom floor a meter or so the building would gain better proportions, those floors are usually taller than the rest. Talking about Berlin, they have generlly a 22 meters maximum heigth of the facades from street level to the corniche, and almost every building in the main streets uses the allowed heigth to 100%. Over the 22 meters level the building has to lean back in at least 30 degrees angle - i e have a max. 60 degree steep roof or some structure that alike. The maximum heigth including roofs and everything is 30 meters. -

If You think that the detailing on the facade is too shallow, maybe You could try to make more shades of the facade texture, and apply the darker one onto the walls and the lighter on the ornaments? Or did You do that already, i cannot see that really clear in the preview. If so, try to make the contrast more significant. Also, the texture that You use is a bit noisy, the main parts of the facade is plaster on the real building so maybe a less blurry surface would make the ornaments come out better? Last but not least, the ground floor has a different kind of wall texture, maybe that could be something to use in your model too? I was so bored with scool so i made a few textures that you might want to use for the Adlon? They look ant-size here but they are more detailed in a close-up view and will work good in BAP Cupper roof Cupper detailing Ground floor -

Did You know... That the Hotel Adlon building above is just a few years old? The Real adlon was built in the late 19th century and, surprisingly, survived the war. Afterwards, the russian Beaureau of Beaurocracy (or whatever) moved in. Unfortunately the building was then accidently damaged by fire and knocked down in the 60s. The old building was quite the same volume, but had only 5 stories and more elaborate onamnents. -

DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS LOT!! :-) Those buildings are now updated, extended and published as "New York Homes" - that is the file for You! This is my first upload to Simtropolis and I keep it here for nostalgical reasons only! ***************** So here it is, my first upload to the Simtropolis Exchange. I always thougt that there ought to be more diversity among the row-houses in the Sim Cities, and here is my attempt to add a couple of new houses. The buildings are modeled in Manhattan 19th century style - The upper half of them are made with inspiration from a photo taken in MOMAs garden, the rest of the buildings are hidden in that pic so i had to come up with the first floors myself :-) The building comes as -
