I really like the stone house. I was going to point out the odd size roof tiles but someone got there first.. . A very promising start on the townhouse as well. I don't want to sound condescending but the improvement in your work is very noticeable.

(Banner & Signature created by Craig Fay Productions) Following on from my first UK bungelow Bat (uploaded to the Stex recently) I thought that I would show some pictures of my latest work in progress. Here I will show pictures of my work close to completion, (ie very little changes to be made unless I like a paticular suggestion from someone). The main problem I have as with all batters is lack of time, so expect long pauses between updates and uploads. Why is it called UK housing project? Well time allowing I have a series of UK Semi-Detatched houses I'm working on that will also be uploaded and who knows what other UK housing will follow. Anyway without further ramblings some pictures. 2nd Uk Bungelow:- Rear This is further developed than the pictures show but you get the idea. Bungelow 3:- Rear:- Further updates to follow in due course. Mntoes

Ok,I have been experimenting a bit with this and because it's such small detail I think it will only really work with the HD version. Here are the results so far (I have de-saturated the bricks a bit as well) There are 2 lots so far a 1x1 and a 1W x 2D (the second tile is parking). This is the preliminary draft 1x2 lot. If you post a link to the Gascooker's row I'll see what I can do. I know what you mean about the pubs but it's another one that has so far remained unfinised and I'm keen to complete some of my work. I am thinking of making some UK corner shops but don't hold your breath yet I have so much in the pipie-line. I like your choice of Georgian townhouse and have some in mind to make myself. Thanks for the compliment and link to the web siite. Thanks. Glad you like them. Thanks again keep watching! I hear you both, loud and clear. In time & thanks. Simcoug & Vester_DK thanks also

I'm doing some research into these at the moment, but I think they may take some time to do if they are to be made the way I like. If I deside to go ahead I'll post a picture. The trouble is there are lots of pictures of the fronts of buildings but I can't find any of the rear. In the meantime I'm going to work on refining this one that again has been sitting on my hard drive for a while. The Jolly Sailor

Mntoes Holt Farm Close I first started these Bats way back in 2006 and I never quite got the time to finish them due to RL. I have a bit more free time now so here they are complete at last. I hope the wait was worth it. The pack consists of 3 lots (two dat files standard and high def versions) R$4_3x2 Holt Farm Lot one (40 res) R$4_3x2 Holt Farm Lot two (40 res) R$4_3x2 Holt Farm Lot Three (40 res) It is important that you place only one of these dat files in your plugins folder. either:- Mntoes Holt Farm Close Std.dat or Mntoes Holt Farm Close HD.dat Pollution-low Garbage -low Hospital Grade- Crime-low As you may know I am not a lover of dependencies so all the custom props and textures needed are included with the download. Included also in this pack are 2 3ds model files:- Mikeseith Corrola & Sheep Skoda Fabia Thanks guys for the models & textures. Hope you enjoy Mntoes -
Thanks Jason for a prompt reply.

Ok I'm new to 3ds max (2012) so go gentle with me ...lol I have a problem when rendering my building. I think it must be to do with the lighting rig. I tried to follow tutorials but end up getting lost. As you can see from this preview image I have highlighted in yellow some areas of shadow that I do not think should be on there. These are created by shadows coming from the bay windows on the building. Questions 1)Is this normal for SC4 lighting. 2 If not how do I amend the lighting. Any help apreciated. Mike South view

Update I have finished refining the textures on these houses and now rendered the HD versions (I'll post a picture later). I have now moved on to the seasonal hedge prop as I am keen to understand these more. I have created a prop for each of the four seasons and after testing in-game they seem to be working as desired. However the props no longer appear on the lot once it has been abandoned for a while. Is this normal? Is there any way to keep them on the lot even if it's abandoned for a long while? (indeed should I be wanting this if it's normal for the game?) Any help appreciated. Thanks, Mike

Here we have the first lot in-game:- The building on the left has been modified (the building on right, a prop has not) These are next to standard maxis houses.

Yes I kind of know what you mean so I have had another go. I think I managed to get it somewhere in between now.

For custom Icons follow this tutorial:- https://www.simtropolis.com/omnibus/_/simcity-4/batlot-editor-tutorials/creating-custom-lot-icons-r62

A compromise would be to keep the models you have and simply make four seasons. You can use one and the same IID for several seasons. That's how I did my "Endless Summer" mod - I simply changed the Resource Key Type 4 (or 5?) property to "cycle" not as per default "summer model - autumn model - winter model - spring model", but instead like this: "summer model - summer model - summer model - summer model". As for the textures, they do look a bit on the darker and greenish side of the colour palette. Plopping them right into a neighbourhood composed of Maxis homes and zooming out a bit should generally give you a good idea of whether your BAts stand out visibly or blend in perfectly. Thanks good idea, I think I might explore with a four season prop. I always find this difficult to do. I have been experimenting a bit with de-saturation and lightening the textures. Results so far:- Before After To me the roof seems ok now but I think I might go for the original walls as I think they are too light now? ... Thoughts? I know you are looking for more historical buildings but these have been sitting on my hard drive for years. Historical buildings....I have this in mind after finishing a load of other bats. Looking good, I like them. 1) Personally I include all my custom made props with the up-load. I'm not a lover of dependencies so If I need a new prop for another lot I simply modify one of my old props (so it looks reasonably different) and re render. That's my way but there is no right or wrong way. I guess it all depends on the number of props you use. Personally I wouldn't like to have to download a prop pack if only one of those props was used on the lot. 2) My understanding is that you will need to obtain a range of IIDs from SC4 devotion ( this avoids in-game conflicts) https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=2490.340 3) Sorry can't help here.

Thanks, glad you like them. Ah.. that make sence the heges spend six months green (spring/summer) and six months brown (Autumn/winter). So if I understand you right it could take up to six game months for them to appear. I guess the solution would be to go for the full 4 seasons or just wait till they appear. Is it just the roof textures? Anyone else agree? before I go for a complete re-render. (I can agree that perhaps a couple are too dark but I kind off like the others) There are currently 2 semi-detached houses on one lot (one model and one prop) this was the best way for me to get the lot size I needed 1.5 tiles per semi. Any thoughts on resident numbers? They are currently arround 44 per lot ie 11 per home. Thanks.

Hi Up next will be these (Holt Farm Close, just a stones throw from where I live). I need to work on the HD versions as I am sure they will be in demand:- The front hedges are my first atempt at seasonal props. For some reaon however they take ages to apear in-game? not sure if this is usual? Hope you like them

Hi No problem, feedback is always welcome. To be honest I only added the HD pack at the last minute as I saw the demand for them. ( I should have re-visited the textures for the HD version as they do show up sharper. something to consider next time) A refinement of the resident numbers is something again I will need to consider as I placed the building on a standard Maxis lot with a similar size building. I've never used Pim-x, have to give it a try as I always struggle with stats. (can you tell I prefer batting to lotting?) Good luck with your own Bat workings. Regards Mike

As far as I'm aware "bump" maps don't work with Gmax.

Right click your desktop icon and select "run as administrator". This should solve the "no flush" problem. (Sorry can't remember if it will fix the other problem as well)
