  1. Original Thread: Before you post a question about a bug or crashing issue, please read this! I know that all of this information has been provided before in various places, but I cannot seem to find it now. I apologize if I am just duplicating a thread or blatantly ignoring some stickied thread. However, I have seen many posts where the first response has invariably asked for more information, so here is a (somewhat) comprehensive guide to what information to give. If the problem involves the game crashing to the desktop, you might check the Crash to Desktop? Look here first. thread for suggestions or possible resolutions to your problem. If you are posting a question about a bug or technical issue, it is of great importance to try to include the following: The version of Sim City 4 you are running (e.g. Vanilla, Rush Hour, Deluxe). The updates you have installed (if any). A picture, if relevant. A picture is worth a thousand words. Really. If your question has to do with missing anything (textures, props, buildings), post a picture. If you are having graphical anomalies, post a picture. If the problem is happening in-game, post a picture. There is an Omnibus Article detailing how to add pictures to your post. Read it. Apply your new knowledge. Your machines specifications. These include: Processor type and speed (e.g. Intel Pentium 4 2.6Ghz or AMD Athlon64 3000+), RAM (e.g. 256MB), Video Card type and memory amount (e.g. ATI Radeon 9600XT w/128MB), Hard drive capacity (e.g. 120GB), and (perhaps most importantly) amount of Virtual Memory (or Page File) (e.g. min 768MB, max 2048MB). All of these stats can be found by right-clicking on My Computer and selecting Properties or by clicking Start, selecting Run, typing dxdiag, and clicking OK. Anything else that is relevant to the problem. For instance, any recently installed mods/lots/bats are probably relevant to the problem you are having. The bottom line is that the more detail you can include in your post, the more likely it is that you will receive a quick (and accurate) response to your question. Lastly, make sure that you name your topic something more descriptive than Please Help or its relatives Problem, Help and Help!!!!!!!! (I'm exaggerating, but not by much). For instance, if your problem relates to missing textures on farms that you downloaded, a good title would be Missing textures on downloaded farms, please help. Thanks for your time. If anyone has any questions or smack-downs for repeating information, feel free to PM me. Original Thread: Before you post a question about a bug or crashing issue, please read this! Return to Top

  3. @all.names.taken: I have been away for some time, however, I doubt the site rules have changed in this respect. It is against site rules (and illegal to boot) for another user to send you files that are on the CD. Your only recourse is to contact Maxis.
  4. Three Rivers Region

Wow...great work...and good luck with the brief.
  5. NHL Trivia Season 3

Chicago Blackhawks - Richard had a lot of luck against them, scoring his 100th, 200th, 400th and 500th goals against them.
  6. Three Rivers Region

David, First of all, congrats on the Trixies...they are long overdue. Second, the new map looks amazing, I cannot wait to see what it looks like with trees and surface water. Now, back to the normal Nutcracker grind...
  7. Three Rivers Region

Yeah, I've had a couple of nasty server errors recently...my time is somewhat limited (Nutcracker, actually playing my own region and a great new habit for playing World of Warcraft) and maybe 3 out of 10 times I try to log on to ST, I get that screen....grrr....
  8. Three Rivers Region

Wow, what progress... And I am truly jealous of your view. It reminds me of where I grew up in West Virginia, only much, much more grand and broad (and untouched). So, are you still planning to distribute quads for development?
  9. Three Rivers Region

Sorry I've been gone...missed a great few updates... That info on the Terraformer might be enough to finally get me to use it...
  10. Three Rivers Region

I'm kinda partial to 6 myself... As to the trees, is it possible to mix in some seasonal trees closer to the riverbank? The transition is very stark... my $0.02 anyway. Take care, Daniel
  11. NHL Trivia Season 3

I also have no clue...after four days!!!
  12. NHL Trivia Season 3

Maybe I won't burn myself out in the regular season this time, Beebs... I look forward to a cup final with you...
  13. Three Rivers Region

Lookin' good, David... Hope you didn't hit those stiff drinks too hard, I don't think it will be as bad as everyone thinks it will...
  14. NHL Trivia Season 3

Just remember that, at one time, Pittsburgh played in the Western Division...
  15. NHL Trivia Season 3

Wow, it's like the 1967 expansion season! And, unfortunately, I didn't see any highlights... I was at my parents' house in the land of no cable
  16. Three Rivers Region

Nice!!! I will also volunteer to develop a few quads (maybe four at most). I do have Nutcracker coming up and you know what that means... Don't you? Oh, right... I'll have lots of free time. Catch ya later...and I'll trade that snow for the horrendous rain we had last week.
  17. NHL Trivia Season 3

No... I think the Pens fans will get priority
  18. NHL Trivia Season 3

I'm all about it! Lady Byng... here I come!!!
  19. Three Rivers Region

Wow! 256 Large squares! That would take me the better part of a year to develop (assuming I actually played every day - which I don't). Good luck... I certainly am looking forward to the results. Daniel
  20. Three Rivers Region

Great pictures of the Terraformer. I think I'll have to try it out. By the way, to all concerned, Buggi has promised to get us a list of all the cheats and, more importantly, what they do when he has time.
  21. Three Rivers Region

Lookin' good! On the side note, I have been testing IE 7 for a couple months now. It seems to be stable and runs well. I haven't had any trouble. Now Windows Media Player 11 on the other hand...
  22. SC4 Extra Cheats DLL

*downloads* *tries to put WoW away for a couple minutes to try it...* Thanks, Buggi!
  23. Three Rivers Region

Realism... that one word is why we all (well, most of us) play this wonderful game. And you are taking realism to new heights my friend. Can't wait for the rest of the Terraformer update. Daniel
  24. Three Rivers Region

Hey, an earthquake's an earthquake... I remember we had one here in Kentucky a couple summers ago. It was far away enough that it just sounded like a large truck passing out in front of my apartment in Louisville. Only later did I learn that it was a 4.0ish earthquake down south.
  25. Top 10 most desired info/mods

@Shaunathan: By the way, Rush Hour/Deluxe already contains the "My Sim" feature, allowing you to do some of what you are suggesting. Beyond that, this is a city simulation, not the Sims...
