Having an issue where the Diagonal Bridge Enabler barely functions, and not at all properly. Fresh NAM install, empty plugin folder besides NAM 47 and Diagonal Bridge Enabler files, and map perfectly god mode level on each side of the river. In game, the elevation of map is increased and water is removed as should occur. Basic roads can sort of (with a lot of finagling) be dragged over rivers to create a diagonal bridge, but only the horrible base texture of pylons is visible. And this is whether I drag road directly or attempt to use the "starter" pieces in the DBE (and even then the nice bridge only renders to about a quarter of the way over the river, leaving that ugly base pylon). Worse, avenues, highways, and the RRW don't work at all. One way roads work like regular roads, with the ugly pylons. I've tried various terrains, slopes, starting distances from edge of river, incremental building of diagonal bridges, and building them all at once. Either I get the red failure to smooth slope line, the road/rail attempts to terraform the land like in picture, instead of dragging directly across to the other side of river, or it just simply doesn't work period. I found an old thread from like 2011 or so where several users were having a similar issue after upgrading to NAM 32 way back when. No fix was presented. The only conclusion was the same one I have to draw: some part of NAM 47 isn't compatible with the Diagonal Bridge Enabler, which is a real shame, because not all bridges exist at 90 degree angles to one another. This puts a huge crimp in making realistic cities and regions. Has anyone run into this and found a solution? Or perhaps the NAM team could look into this? I don't think I can play SC4 at this point. Don't know what to do. If it matters, I'm running the Steam version of the game, on Windows 10, in XP Compatibility mode, with 4 GB patch. EDIT: found another thread from 2020, tried some of the suggested tricks. Made sure DBE files started with zzzz so they loaded last. Also temporarily removed the RRW slope parameter folder from NAM. These however had little effect. I was however able to get the regular road and one way roads to draw properly with the more attractive pylons. Avenue, RRW, and Highway remain unchanged/unable to be dragged across empty river. However, with the slope parameter removed, now the rails cut directly into the ground (see second pic) rather than terraforming it up to meet the rail (see first pic).

Diagonal Bridge Enabler Compatibility

Thank you for the reply. And really sorry how my original post came off; I get it, I made an ass of myself, and it's not your fault that it's been so frustrating trying to get everything transferred over and working right on my new rig. I definitely see now I should have included more context to my bitch so it didn't come off as juvenile as it did, or just done more research in the first place. I've merely became accustomed to using the DBE on my old rig with old version of NAM (which I never had a problem getting to function properly together), so to go back to not being able to use diagonal bridges after years of using them, you gotta see how that might severely limit my ability to enjoy the game. It's like going from watching shows on a 65" 4K TV to an old 20" black and white CRT. Either way, sorry how I came off, and thanks again for everything. I actually had the RRW patch downloaded but forgot to put it back into folder after removing everything to test with just NAM and DBE. I also didn't realize you made a vid, and I really do appreciate your posting the link for quick access. I'll just keep tinkering with this on my own. Speaking of that patch, I just reread the simtropolis page and DBE readme and I didn't see anything about the patch mentioned. Since NAM is now the default rail option and can't be opted out of as far as I know, I think it would be helpful to add the RRW DBE patch under dependencies on the DBE page or into its readme. Sorry if it is there and I simply missed it, just trying to help out others avoid issues. Or even linking your youtube vid to the download page for DBE would be cool (not sure if that can be posted to the page or not, but it would help people like me avoid bugging you and others). -
I recently installed SC4 on my new rig (running Windows 10). Installed NAM 47. Installed a bunch of different mods, but none pertaining to railway textures as far as I can tell. The issue at hand is a glitch involving some of the railway intersections and any time multiple tracks are laid next to one another on the diagonal. The RRW texture works perfectly except for in those two areas, where the original Maxis textures seem to pop through in a diamond pattern. Please see pic included for reference. I have tried installing various reskin mods for railways, but they either don't work with the most recent NAM or the glitch still occurs through the reskin, same as in pic. I have deleted and reinstalled NAM 3 times now. Tried running in both software and hardware mode, as well as different compatibility modes. The glitch keeps occurring no matter what I do. Has anyone else run across something like this, or have any idea what my issue might be or how to fix? I can try to build cities around this specific limitation, but that can create some ugly/unrealistic railways depending on the map and region geography I'm working with.

Thank you for the quick reply and clarification. I do really like all the additional options of the NAM. On my old rig (Windows 7, and perhaps way back with NAM 30 or so) I didn't have these issues. Also, I was only including those weird junctions as examples of the issue at hand. I wouldn't actually use most of those setups (except for the straight stretches of diagonal rails next to each other, which is really the only thing I care about anyway). The one thing I'll point out is that if you look at google maps (and the included pic grabbed from a random area in Chicago), there are countless real world examples of multiple rail lines being right next to one another (especially in railyards or heavily industrialized areas, which is mainly how I used to use this particular multi-track setup). To have to leave a full tile gap (the equivalent of a third set of double tracks) between the two main sets looks really unrealistic to me. Train tracks rarely waste that much space in real life. Usually, the tracks are built as close as they can safely be set to one another. Again, please see picture which shows 7 rails right next to one another (plus that 8th off to the side, but still not at a distance equivalent to a double set of tracks, or in our case the length of a tile; looks more like a half tile to me). Either way, it sounds like the setup I want just isn't and won't ever be supported again, so thank you for explaining the technical issues with it. You at least saved me from a few more fruitless hours of searching for a solution that apparently doesn't exist. I guess I'll just have to build my networks around this in the future. Thanks again.

heres what i dont understand, why do all the river pieces cost me a monthly fee under the quise of a landmark? i tried just turning off maintenance to landmakrs but now i cant place any real landmarks because they look nasty and black from lack of maintenance. i dont have a problem with a dirty river but a bunch of black skyscrapers dont fit into my city. am i missing something stupid and simple or is there no way to place this river in my city without incuring a $38000 a month maintenance fee?
