  1. Yet another region view glitch

Ok, I'm kind of lost... I'm guessing it's because I disactivated 3D and tried running the game, then reactivated it again but... everything is actually back to normal now. Well almost: on the region view, everything appears buggy as it was, but goes back to normal once I load the city. And stays that way when I save, even on the region view. Well, thanks Moose for suggesting that, I probably reset the GPU on VMware or something, and it's working sooo fine now, it's real sweet. I'll give Wine a try though, I'm curious, and if I succeed I'll report back here and give the results (that's the right thing to do, right? I'm not really a forum person...)
  2. Yet another region view glitch

Thanks for the reply, and my excuses for my impatience. I have no idea where "Noman's land" came from . My mistake, it IS Fairview. I am not sur if I can change the VMware SVGA II device. I only have the option to disactivate 3D (which is "DirectX 9.0c with Shader Model 3 & OpenGL 2.1"), and sc4 doesn't even start when I try that. I'm going to give Wine a try and update this post when I do. Thanks again!
  3. Dear Community, here I am posting my first thread ever on a sc4 related forum. I have to say, I got a sudden crave for sc4 out of nowhere recently, years after I had last played it. Not only I am rediscovering the game right now with immense joy, but most of all I am baffled to discover this incredible SC4 community. Such inspiring creations, generous contributions, all for the love of this simulation game, which is in fact more than just a game... Anyway, I'm getting to my region bug, but I feel I should introduce myself and my very modest sc experience briefly. Just jump down to the end if you want to get to the point. So I launched it up on my MacBook Pro and remembered why I had stopped playing: it was unplayable, the slowness, oh GOD... I am a patient person, and my desire to play multiplied my patience capacities... but there was no way. But my craving was too intense: I immediately bought an online Windows version from EA and at last plopped it into my VMware Fusion... The result, I must say, is almost fantastic. It is miraculous compared to what I had with the Mac version. I've been playing intensely for a few days now, so my bug doesn't stop me from playing. Let me explain with pictures. This is what my region looks like when I first open it, normal (No Man's Land, inclueded with sc4) When the map loads, it has changed: the terrain is ugly as hell, the trees stick out like zits, and the colours and general rendering are off. Each tile lokks like a huge pixel. The green turns pale fluorescent green, brown dirt color becomes bright yellow and sand is snow-white. Here is the funky part: when I save and quit to region, ta-daa: So, clearly this does NOT stop me from playing. It is just frustrating to have the game working so smooth otherwise and not be able to have the full beauty of the terrain. The lots and all are OK though. And only the built-in sc4 regions first appear normal. All custom regions I've downloaded load up directly in the "pixellized" fashion. Let me also point out the I have uninstalled all mods, uninstalled and reinstalled the game, tried all sorts of different graphic modes... I am using VMware Fusion 3.1.4 running Win XP Pro on MacBook Pro 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. I'm thinking it's a graphic card problem? I must also point out that on my slow unplayable Mac version, I did not have this issue. I am sure there must be one of you guys out there that has seen this before; I've spent days looking for this issue on the net in vain (in the French community as well, I live in Paris). Hope to hear from somebody, thanks, and sorry for my long post ! EDIT: Oops, I'm sorry, did I need to write this in the Mac section of the forum? It's kind of both...
