Underpass technique (no mods or parks)

We need somewhere to ship our freight!
Bibor replied to MOWS 4 U's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
For the umpteenth time, trade depots are the least desired place for industry to ship freight to. Commercials, utilities, airports, the intl. airport are the most desired form. Everything that doesnt get shipped to those destinations gets dumped into the trade depot. You might want to consider putting the trade depot close to city exit, rather than adjacent to factories. -
rci Fixing your city: reading the charts
Bibor replied to Bibor_Kiraly's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Indeed Grimhood, this is how I play. Ad now I have a city with 150000 pop without traffic issues and with minimal unemployment, one lonely homeless guy and factories that don't go bust. -
The influence ring doesnt tell you the influence radius, but how close it must be to another park to create a $$$ or $$ zone. Adjacent parks dont do much except if you put, like you did, four on the same spot. Which is a waste of money and space.

my streetcars are clustered together... bugs or not enough streetcars?
Bibor replied to brianc0220's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
For larger cities its better to have two independent streetcar lines with two separate depots. -
Germs... how do i get rid of them!
Bibor replied to Surly_Says_79's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Also worth mentioning: high tech industry produces minimal pollution, so creativity can flourish better. Germs should be tackled early, like crime otherwise they spin out of control (not extreme like crime but still...) -
Nuclear Reactors - Not as bad as you think
Bibor replied to UntCaptain's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Dont know about nuclear but the improved solar seems to be pretty efficient terrain-wise, and quite powerful to run one big city by itself. -
Regional Crime is suddenly KILLING a nice profitable city!
Bibor replied to LGMizzell's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Seriously though, what happens if you cut all connections to your city and then demolish everything? That should save the region, right? -
Yup. Unskilled workers. My guess is that people working in the factory are coming from the (uneducated) region.

Is a high wealth city one way to mitigate the traffic problem?
Bibor replied to RRtexasranger's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
By selling coal, ore, oil and the like. Resource cities are harder to set up, but easier to turn to really good profit. -
What are TVs and Computers for?
Bibor replied to warrior's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Nilssoa, your comment makes no sense. Why would I sell a TV for 9 if the market price is 10? I also sell it for 10, but II profit from the difference to manufacturing price. -
Is it possible to build a self sustaining high wealth city of 300k people?
Bibor replied to MOWS 4 U's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
You need processor and consumer electronics factories for money, and high wealth tourism so your commerce doesnt go bust. -
A trade port, unlocked by building the trade HQ is what you need. A Port doesn't mean only harbor. In this case it also has a railroad connection building. Trade port is basically just a very advanced trade depot, having, along with rail and harbor options, access to 12 freight trucks. Any serious trader should have it. EDIT: here are some screenies of it:

Computer factory profits not adding up, what am I missing?
Bibor replied to Destable's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
You're missing the running costs which is 3600 per factory and at least one trade port which is around 2200. Per hour, per factory. That's 830.000 per day with one trade port, not counting the hefty costs of utilities for these buildings. Te only way it can work is if you import alloys and plastic and produce both processors and computers. Although I suggest going for TVs.
