I think it would be great to have no bus stops. Instead you would put bus routes along normal roads as a sort of top layer thing. this would be way more realistic. Then a passenger could switch bus routes where they crossed, or walk between them. As you dragged the bus route over top of the road it would automagically put in bus stops along the side of the road.

I would have posted this on the cities XL forum, but it didn't work. Anyways: No bus stops. Instead, you make bus *routes* that are laid over top of roads or streets and the stops are placed automatically every so often. This is way cooler and much more realistic because then instead of plopping bus stops randomly around the city, you have certain defined routes. Nice options for waterfront development. Something like PEG's CDK set but built into the game and not nearly as buggy. Subways should work like rail. One thing that bugged me in SC4 was that although rail or elrail needed to curve gently, subways can turn on a 90-degree angle. Diagonal/Curved Bridges. Enough said. More diverse buildings. What I think would be really cool is to have a generator for buildings, as for the most part (not so much in suburbs) buildings are not identical. If you had a set of rules about what a low-income house should look like, you could maybe generate unique ones. Or for skyscrapers, you can get some base textures like glass, granite, etc and then rules on what it should look like and then build the skyscraper to fit the lot size and to be only as high as the demand warranted. This would be more difficult, but it it would be really, really cool. Or you could do it just for institutional buildings, so that all your police stations were slightly different etc. while keeping a set of growable RCI lots. Streetcars. NAM GLR is nice but it's rather messy due to it not being designed to be in the game. I don't know how city/region stuff works in Cities XL, but if it's anything like that of SC4, it would be nice to have a region-wide terrain editor. Highway interchange editor. Something where you could have your highways meet at some arbitrary angle or whatever, and then you can connect all the overpasses/underpasses yourself. (in addition to preset ones) Stricter terrain leveling for roads/rail/highways etc. Also, it would be really awesome if you released it for Linux.

The Future of Warfare Is Now Here... Lasers

It's better for us to do this and be able to discover defenses to it before someone else discovers how to do this. If we didnt discover this and someone else did, they may use it on us and we wouldnt know what hit us. ' This is classic fear-mongering propaganda. Who else in this world has 1. The BILLIONS of dollars to develop, produce, and maintain such a weapon? 2. The high level of scientific education to create scientists with the knowledge to develop this? 3. The liberal, non-theological scientific community for these scientists to operate in? 4. The high-tech, quality industry to produce the weapon's systems? 5. The viable, well-staffed space agency to launch this weapon? I'm sure a few coutries meet some (maybe most) of these requirements. However, only the US, has ALL of these things. So who 'else' could develop it? That's like saying that, even though the US has about 10,000 ICBMs still active, that we should produce and develop large and more powerful missiles because some day, far in the future, 'someone' else could get their hands on an entire arsenal of thermonuclear weapons.quote> You Forgot one- 6. The political will to divert funds away from education, healthcare, etc, to finance this. I'm sure many governments have the money, but they want to spend it on something else. Also, America could spend the money on better projects- like social security or some other valuable social program American soceity could not afford to lose. I have noticed many 'neo-cons' have proposed cutting funding to these programs. But where would America be without an education system? I myself live in Canada, but I watch the American Media and notice many things that that nation's politicians seem to ignore. -

How to set up a Rail System?
rustalot42684 replied to ParadiseEngineering's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Date: 12/22/2005 9:58:08 AM Author: BlackBeard Welcome to ST and Happy Holidays. I found Rail as waste but if you gotta do it make sure you 'No' roads connecting to other cities. The game set up so a Car or Truck is the choice of travel but if there is no other connections they will be forced to use the rail.Goodluck quote> That's not true. Sims use rail if it is convenient, and if you put lots of toll booths in, they will use rail even more. For industry, box in th industrial zones with no truck lots from the STEX, and put rail lines through the zones themselves. If an industrial lot is next to a rail line, it doesn't need a station. -
Very nice. I like the swimming area-type thing. However, troy was several miles inland, and it wasn't the trojans being trusting that was the problem. One of the preists said no, but the Gods wanted troy to fall, so they killed him with on of Posiedon's lovely pets. Doesn't really matter though. Nice city, good work
