  1. SimCity: Transit and Roading Networks

Train stations have parking, so yeah, people will drive there before taking the train. Tram stops however are placed in the middle of avenues, so I'm not sure where their parking lot would be...
  2. SimCity: Transit and Roading Networks

Yeah that's the two-lane street (one lane on each side), or are you talking about something even smaller? Mmmh good suggestion, I'll see what I can do.
  3. Simcity insider - SIMCITY’S HEAVY TRAFFIC

They'll leave the city if they have a connection to the region; otherwise you can torture them for a very long time.
  4. SimCity: Transit and Roading Networks

I've touched on that a bit on the SimCity forums: http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/8992736.page#25095185 If you're very careful about your planning, keeping your blocks mixed with R, C & I, I think you'd be able to achieve it.
  5. Owning The Streets of Simcity

Interesting, but that's never been in the spirit of SimCity, where you've always worked at one level of abstraction higher than line management. Games like A-Train (the one that made me want to come work at Maxis as a teenager) are more in line with what you're thinking of.
  6. I hope I'll get to write more about transit in the future as well! Friday's post in the Insider section of the site is going to be more about traffic.
  7. We really don't think in terms of "tiles" anymore, so I can't give you a good size analogy. The lollipop bus stops occupy "street lots", that is, they don't take up the space a house could use, but instead are in front of buildings. It's something that had always bothered me in previous SCs... At the moment, they only go in the middle of avenues w/ light rail tracks or own their own light rail tracks, not on roads; thanks for the suggestion though. Awesome to see you on here addressing some of our questions. Do you think there will be DLC with more transit option in the future? Thank you for your time! Can't talk about any of that, sorry!

  9. Trust me guys, there's a lot of things I'd like and want to do, but for now we're focusing on the options detailed in the post.
  10. Owning The Streets of Simcity

It's all relative of course... it will just take people a lot longer to get to their destinations if there are lots of cars on the road. Going through L.A. at 4am is a very different experience than going through it at 4pm!
  11. SimCity: Transit and Roading Networks

Yeah once I had the pedestrian side of things working, adding the park & ride was pretty straight-forward.
  12. SimCity: Transit and Roading Networks

I'll answer the one question I can talk about: Route planning is done automatically by the simulation, based on current necessities, much like in previous SimCities.

There: http://www.simcity.c...eets-of-SimCity (I also had a feeling that my exchange with PTPLauthor would end up here)
