  1. What are you reading?

Currently reading "Eats, Shoots and Leaves" by Lynne Truss, which is about the situation of punctuation in society.
  2. Digital TV Switch delayed. But not for a 2nd time

@ilikehotdogsalot: No, they are just $40 off the store price. The cost of most are above $40, like the $60 ones they sell at Best Buy. It seems that the part about how channels now get to choose when to go ahead and do the transition is omitted. 4 of the channels in my area are still switching on the original date, and they are the big 4 local affiliate channels(ABC,NBC,CBS and FOX). The other channels haven't said anything, so it's presumed they are going for the new date, or a different date altogether.
  3. Big Breakfast is watching you!

I keep expecting the fish to turn towards the camera and start singing.
  4. Great TP Debate

I prefer my TP faced over, or front as this thread calls it, used to have it the other way, but it's hard to start a roll otherwise. As for my usage, 1. I wipe Leaning Forward. 2. I Look at what I wipe. 3. I Fold the toilet paper. 4. Wipe, Sanitize then Sit. 5. I wipe from Front to Back. I've done a experiment on how much toilet paper clogs a toilet with low pressure, the lucky number is 32. More toilets with low pressure are needed to make this test more accurate though.
  5. Duke87's Random Trivia

    1. If I remember correctly, it's somewhat a trick question. It could be either 100
  6. Duke87's Random Trivia

    5) Portal 9) Mystery Science Theater 3000
  7. Highways - Hard row to hoe!

The reason you can't make a corner with the highway is because the highway doesn't do corners, neither do any rail(except the subway). In order to do a 90 degree turn, you have to drag diagonally for a few tiles, then drag it the last 45 degrees to make the turn.
  8. GLR and El-Rail Together

@k808j: That would be because GLR's base is El-Rail. There's no way to get different automata for those two networks because they are based on the same network.
  9. Did you chose your religion?

I'm Catholic because my parents are Catholic. I didn't have much of a choice for Confirmation(the point where my mom said I could get out of it if it didn't feel right disappeared as soon as I said when I wanted out, so I sorta regret even going through it in the first place). Although I'm a pretty open thinker, I still believe in God, but I don't believe in some of the parts of the bible, and I dislike the choices of the church, so I'm leaning a bit away from Catholicism.
  10. Help I lost my city.

Congratulations! You just beat the record for the most unintended duplicate posts on ST to date! Now ignoring the forum glitch, I'll focus on the thread's question. Could you post a screenshot of your problem so we can see what exactly it looks like?

Link: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=17000 I use them to show which directions traffic is moving in my shots, but you can also use them to check for problems in a route(as they will disappear in hordes if something is wrong on a road) or to see how traffic behaves when using the highway or road.
  12. Show us Your Interchanges!

I haven't posted anything in this thread for a while(if at all), so I think it's time for a posting After seeing the interchange monsters on the last page, I decided to try my hand at making a 10 directional interchange(3 going East & West and 2 going North & South) and keep it relatively small by using loops(the sim would have to purposely merge off a ramp and onto a highway to get out of the interchange) and limiting the amount of ramps on and off a highway to a absolute minimum. I believe I've accomplished these goals. All images are thumbnails, click the image to see it at 800x600 (If you have a middle button/scroll wheel, click it to open the pictures in a new tab ) Tell me what you guys think(besides the images being small).
  13. GTA IV On PC TO Use SecuROM

Yet another game I can't use with my gaming computer because of a lack of a internet connection. Way to go game developers, you've lost another customer.
  14. Gasoline Prices

$1.67/gal(US$0.44/liter) in Xenia, Ohio on Thanksgiving.

  16. I suck at math (and chemistry!)

How would you divide IXIVIII by XXXIV ? quote> With your numbers, it wouldn't matter because IXIVIII isn't a real number to work with. There's too many conflicting values for it to work in any case(9(IX) and 8(VIII) can't be in the same number and the middle I is in conflict between the already conflicting numbers). As for how you do the math, you generally do it the same way people learning multiplication and division do it, with subtraction over and over. If you remember, 6*7 is simple for 6+6+6+6+6+6+6 which equals 42. Likewise, to do division, you subtract until you reach the lowest possible number without going negative(0 preferably) For example, 5125 ÷ 25 = 5125-25-25-25-25-25-25... after many subtractions... -25 -25 = 0, 25 was subtracted 205 times, thus the answer is 205(5125 ÷ 25 = 205) Math isn't hard really, just really time consuming if you don't use time efficient methods.
  17. 66.67% 22/33 Doesn't surprise me that much because I only learned of the structure and critical events, not much else. What I find disappointing is how I still did better than US elected officials.
  18. Just another poll thread, what kind of music player do you use? The music player I'm defining in this thread is a player that has a storage medium, and doesn't rely on streaming of data, or digital and/or analog radio waves as it's source of media. I apologize if the poll seems a bit too extensive, but I'm curious as to what time of Music Player people use on Simtropolis the most. NOTE: Please keep the brand bashing down, we don't need this turning into a "why my music player is better and yours sucks" thread.
  19. AP LONDON - A British pilot who was suddenly blinded by a stroke during a solo flight was talked safely down by a military pilot, the Royal Air Force said Friday. Jim O'Neill asked for help after he was went blind 40 minutes into a flight from Scotland to southeastern England last week. The BBC reported that O'Neill, flying a small Cessna aircraft, lost his sight 5,500 feet in the air. quote> Full story link URL: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27600521/
  20. Show Us Your Nearest...Abandoned Railroad!

My area, the old railways were torn up and replaced with bike paths(right size, the bridges were there, and it's quite extensive).
  21. Aww, my often deleted prediction is wrong...I was predicting this weekend, but it's come to pass...
  22. Recording & Audacity

I just plug a headphone cable with male inputs on both ends(used to connect music players to cars or stereos) with a headphone splitter attachment. Depending if you want to hear anything or want a microphone, plug the Y into the desired port(headphone/speaker port if you want to listen to the audio from your machine), then connect the cable from the Y and into the other port that isn't connected to the Y. This will cause the audio to physicaly get routed from the speakers to the microphone. Just do some balance tests by recording a song playing or a video clip and make sure the levels are balanced out. Just a Note, Vista usually doesn't play back the microphone through the speakers, so you will need to watch your levels. If you need to see what the things look like, the cable with male inputs on both ends looks like this product, http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=9721012 And the Y looks like this product. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=9721014

  24. Gasoline Prices

Gas in my area is really cheap, for the past week or two it's been in the $1.96-$2.04 range. Ohio prices tend to have a incredible swing, and are most sporadic in the country.
