  1. Corrupted regions? Is that possible?

Same problem here, actually it's happened 3 times now. One it just flipped back to the menu screen and my city had completely gone. The 2nd and 3rd tries were other cities, both would just sit on the loading screen forever. Really annoyed and have just given up on this game now.
  2. So you want to privatise your police force? Then give Dick Cheney a call. Maxis Man!!! :-)
  3. I've found an interesting bug. I had an earthquake in my city which destroyed my townhall and basically ruined everything, closing all the schools and stuff. Anyway, the earthquake wouldn't stop. Literally, it went on and on and on, making the game impossible to play. I ended up giving up and starting a new region. Does anyone know if it's possible to turn of disasters without using the sandbox mode? It's incredibly frustrating when it takes so long to make money and godzilla comes along and eats my chip plant or an earthquake destroys my most expensive buildings?
  4. This happened to me yesterday without actually wanting to do it. Six hours into working on a city, a message popped up saying your city couldn't be synced, and then it deleted it. Maybe just unplug your internet and see if you get the same error message ;-)
  5. Guess I'm the only here crazy enough in that I would actually pay that for a real successor to SimCity 4 :-)
  6. I've easily spent over $2000 on Flight Simulator software in the past year, these are all addons and things that improve the game and as a hobby, I don't mind investing in it. As it stands, I don't actually think SimCity is that expensive compared to some of the rubbish you can buy on consoles etc. The problem with this game is that it is considered a "game" and not a "simulation". If it was meant as a more professional/complex simulation, with more realistic problems and tools and addons, and not "Maxis-man superhero" type addons, then I think $200 would be a reasonable price tag.
  7. I'm worried about road layouts.

Some people will of course do it, and unless reported, will probably be left to it. If you place stuff like that for the public to see and are deliberately trolling, then I hope it does get removed. What you do in your own private region is your business however :-)
  8. Besides that, this game will probably end up costing over $200 with the eventual DLC to expand the city size and add things that should have been in the game anyway, like highways, metro, etc..
  9. Yes, if I knew it was keep me entertained for a few years like SimCity 4 did, and would continue to work without Internet. Of course, without the DRM, the game would be pirated to hell anyway, so even if they charged $200 for it, it would still end up on thepiratebay. Honestly, as crap as DRM is, it's the only way at the moment companies can protect their stuff (and even that eventually gets cracked)
  10. I had a similar issue and I built a second dedicated trading depot just for the processor factory to send out its goods and also to collect the plastic and alloy from the recycling centre. It seemed to resolve the issue. It took a while for stuff to start happening though (a few in game hours)
  11. Yep I had the same problem with the recycling center, but finally realised after watching some videos on YouTube that I'm actually supposed to do something and build a trade depot to get rid of it. It took a while for it to kick in, but it started working.
  12. I have a slum where I said all my waste to to be incinerated, although since I added a recycling centre, the amount of rubbish being sent out has decreased
  13. Damn I saw that and thought I could get a free upgrade to the deluxe version as well. Didn't realise it was SimCity 4
  14. They aren't giving up or changing their minds about this. You only need to read the comments on Lucy's post she made the other day to see how angry people are, and how it's just brushed to one side as if "I had a vision, I don't care what you think". Simcity is a popular franchise with a lot of fans, and if we want to play this game then we are either forced to take it or leave it. It will turn ugly for people and them when they switch the servers off, and maybe then we'll see a patch released to remove it.
  15. Yeah, the population was one of those. It kept jumping round by huge numbers for no apparent reason and confused me. The demand indicators didn't seem to make much sense. Also, I sent money as a gift from one of my other cities and I never received it. The game is riddled with bugs and things that would work so much better offline. I can accept that bugs happen, as long as they fix it and don't try sugar-coat it or say it's a feature. I'm sure given time it COULD become a far better game, but whether EA/Maxis choose to do so is another story Just so you know, all the servers are located in the same location, they're just named the way that they are because that's what Maxis decided to do to name them instead of doing something creative like naming them after famous landmarks or something like that. So feel free to play on whatever server you can get on, they're all in the same locale. Thanks for the info. I've heard that if I choose another server, the city either goes missing or doesn't sync properly.
