Y'know I've thought about getting into the BAT and Lot Editor but I'm too scared. I spend way too much time playing the game as it is, get me into creating content for it and I'll never see the light of day again!

Biriali, you're my hero. Thankyou... (It would be nice if they had a mock footpath/bike/rollerblade path.. Don't ask for much do I?)

Another version that has a tile less leg room: The walkway would be just eyecandy. And of course, you would need hole digging lots to line them up flush with a slope

Hiya, For a long time I've thought about straight retaining walls, the types you often find along beachfronts - and wondered why they don't exist. We have sloping walls, city walls, raised parks etc. but no true straight retaining walls. The trouble with these is that our SC4 grid system always has a slope between elevations but of course we can work around this. Here is a real life pics of what I mean and how it would be implemented in game: So, is that so hard my worshippable Baters?!?

Old player, new simtropolis, need links to downloads!

As you can see, we all have different needs. I don't have much of Asteconn list either and as for the Opera House Fix, I don't even have that because I don't use Maxis stuff, nor do I build large cities. Our lists give you an idea, when you first come here you are like a kid in a candy shop and don't know where to begin. You see y=mx+b there is no right or wrong, just have a clear focus on what sort of city you want to build and find your own list. -
Whenever you get a double up of items in your menus it usually means you have a double up of the files in your plugins folder. You need to scour your plugins folder and check that you don't have two separate instances of the NAM/RHW in there. When my plugins folder gets a bit unwieldy I use a Duplicate File Finder program. This app will find duplicate files, then it's up to you to do a clean job of removing the duplicates.

Please HELP cant find roundabouts anywhere
rubeszilla replied to spittball33's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Install the latest NAM, then you will find one big one for avenues in your roads menu. To make small ones from roads, simply draw a one way circle with the road tool and it will transform into a roundabaout. Get the Network Addon Mod (NAM) here: http://www.simtropol...sion-29-for-pc/ And a little tutorial on how roundabouts work with the NAM: -

Mike, thanks for your list, I find it interesting how you've explained WHY you've installed something. Question though: Why are you using simolean mods when you could install the Maxis Extra Cheats plugin? With this plugin you simply type 'Moolah' in the cheat box follwed by any number you like e.g. 9999999999 and walah! your funds go up that amount. -

Yep, as Simhottoddy said, the Railway Upgrade Mod updates the NAM railways as well, so no conflicts. I put it - as with all my mods - in a folder called ZZZ Mods, so it loads last. -

The NAM is essential but it's also one of the most complicated things to understand. Read it carefully but don't get put off by its complexity. Most things you download from the STEX you can just put in your plugins folder and forget about it - they'll just show up in the game. I think it's best to have a clear idea of what sort of city you want to build. I recently made a slum town, so I only needed scummy, low wealth buildings. My plugins folder was quite small but I was very pleased with my town. I had a 2gig plugins folder but eventually realized I didn't need most of it, and could break it up for particular types of themed cities. So think about what sort of city you want to build then go hunting on the STEX. As far as a standard basis to build upon, I chose these, to mention a few: Railway Upgrade Mod http://www.simtropol...ay-upgrade-mod/ Makes your rail look a lot more realistic Network Addon Mod http://www.simtropol...sion-29-for-pc/ Gives you a plethora of advanced network options Light Replacement Mod http://www.simtropol...ement-mod-v3-0/ Beautifies your city at night Peg Water Mod Brigantine http://www.simtropol...mod-brigantine/ Beats the hell out of the default water colour your game came with Persistant Automata Mod http://www.simtropol...t-automata-mod/ Stops your vehicles from vanishing rapidly. Maxis Extra Cheats http://www.simtropol...gin-from-maxis/ Cheat, cheat, cheat.. Good luck! -
Well, I'm no expert, but if it only happens when scrolling then you have an nvidia card there which should handle 'backing store' to make scrolling smooth. Try this from EA's website: "Many cards (including the ATI Radeons) lack support for a backing store, which SimCity 4 utilizes. For those cards, SimCity 4 is forced to disable the rendering of many of the view objects (like buildings) during scroll. This is intentional to ensure responsiveness while scrolling. You can enable the rendering of all objects by editing your "Graphics Rules.sgr" which is found in the Sim City 4 directory installed to your hard drive. With any text editor go into this file and change the following property from true to false: property noPartialBackingStoreCopies false Note, however, that doing so can adversely effect scrolling speeds." Give that a whirl dude, see how you go...

Gdriver Direct X Not Responding problem solved
rubeszilla posted a topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Hi all, I torture the life out of my poor cities by regularly swapping plugins, and naturally, frequently have my game not load. Many of us have experienced this, the game simply hangs after the splash screen and never loads. When you hit CTRL+ALT+DEL or CTRL+SHIFT+ESC you get the message ‘GdriverWindow-DirectX’ and the status 'not responding'. At first I scoured the net and found many misguided and dodgy reasons why this might happen and how to fix it. Nowhere could I find the simple answer, so I’m putting it here for the poor souls who go a lookin’. Here’s the simple solution. Basically, you need to remove your plugins, start the game (the game should start now), exit the game, replace your plugins and start the game. For those of you who need more information follow these steps. 1. Rename your plugins folder e.g. ‘pluginsX’. This can be found in ‘C:\My Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins’ 2. Start Sim City. Sim City will create a new, empty plugins folder. Your game should load (it always does with me). If it doesn’t then I can’t help you. 3. Exit game. 4. Delete the newly created plugins folder and rename your old plugins folder e.g. ‘pluginsX’ to ‘plugins’. 5. Start the game. That works all the time for me. Good luck!- 1 Reply
