Ok so I've been downloading and reading and catching up and now I've moved up to getting maps. Problem is I only see very old versions of Mapper and Terraformer from like 2005 to 2007. I'm assuming these are the correct ones to use right? Which one is better or should I get both??? By the way this site is CRAZY! I wish I would have known about it years ago!

OK I just bought a new computer. I read the forum and I found out that I can use Sim City 4 on Windows 7 so I go to install it on my computer and the first thing it asks for is the registration / activation code off of the back of the box. Which was thrown away YEARS ago after I installed it for the first time. Never thought of this problem comng up. Anyway to import anything from my old computer or a way to find an activation code??? If not I might be ending my short run here on Simtropolis.

Preciate it fellas!  As far as that airport it's the only thing I haven't really got a handle on modding.  Don't know what to download or how to do it properly.  My next project is going to be South Side Atlanta and I will need the airport for that.   So I guess my first question is...What is the best downloads for building a custom airport?

OK here it is. Blue Devil County. It's based off of an actual city in GA and if you are from there you might recognize it now. Hopefully not as much when I'm done. I plan to take this city from the small community it is in real life and make it a huge metropolis while using the outline you see below to accomplish that. I have questions however and I will be posting them along the way.

Well the residents are kind of moving up without me giving them permission too! Check out the medium to high wealth "projects" in the middle of the map.

Here's the problem. I build a city with GLR lines in all of the avenues just to see how it would work out. I go to zone the areas around the GLR lines and the game WILL NOT let me zone my lots facing the GLR tiles. I've tried holding down ctrl while I do it and everything but no matter what I do the zone tiles for residential or commercial will turn it's back to the GLR lines. This wouldn't be such a huge problem if this wasn't a coastline I was building here. What Am I doing wrong?

How about some suggestions on good CJ's? I wouldn't mind reading through some but it seems like there aren't many updates or a lot of them have dead pics and such.

This might sound silly but are you sure you have everything watered and powered? Could be some pipes busted? Besides that I would plop a building that fits your highest demand ($, $$, $$$) to satisfy that demand and then the residential will sprout. MIght be enough of a kick to sponsor a mass migration to your city.

Ok I know that it is impossble to download entire cities from here cause it would be too big but is there anyway to download a city or region with street and rail layouts? Anybody ever seen anything like that? I am having a heck of a time putting in my streets the way I want them. For instance if I want some diagonal streets I can't make them and can't find a mod to do it so I put in diagonal roads. As long as the diagonal faces right then I'm cool but if it faces left then it has a tendency to curl and make loops and strange s curves and such. Plus I know nothing about laying down a good rail system. Any help or suggestions of where I can download a few so I can see my mistakes and learn?

I appreciate all of the info. I do have the NAM and I just discovered the tool so I appreciate that. Gonna try it out. And I didn't want the files just to cheat. I wanted them so I could learn and disect. But I guess trial and error is the way to go.

Ok I've seen a few files on here that have EXE installers on them. For this example I will use the PEG Lakeside Resort. So I want to download this and use it but I am weary of using an EXE file? Why EXE and what does it have to install? Is it installing it in the Sim City folder or is it installing something on my computer? I'm assuming it's safe cause people use them all the time and my search turned up nothing on this subject but I just wanted to ask first. Thanks for putting up with me!

Ok appreciate it. Yeah I wouldn't download from a newbie anyway. So it's more of a convenience thing. Cool. I got to say I am impressed with this site! There are things here I would have never imagined were possible!

I've been playing this game off and on for maybe two years and getting frustrated with it and then I thought to look it up online one day and BAM found you guys. My question is I have all of this technical stuff about NAM in the read me and installation file but I have no idea what half of it means because I have never used NAM before. Since I've never installed it before what should I do? Just click it and let it run or what should I do?

I appreciate all of the input here but I may have been a tad bit off base with the question. The whole first half of the tutorial and installation guide packed with NAM are about things that need to be taken out or turned off in order for NAM to work properly. Almost all of it is about how to uninstall previous versions of NAM. Since I don't have a previous version and this is my first time is there any of that I need to be careful about. In other words will NAM just install smooth since this is my first time installing it or do I need to change some computer settings or something first?
