  1. NAM General Support

    Not for long.
  2. Show us your Airports!

Yeah, I guess they're a little big (Would be a nightmare to park there), I'll probably change it up sometime later. They're from the 8 level modular parking garage set you can find on the stex.
  3. Show us your Airports!

I just downloaded RMIP for the first time and I'm pretty proud of my first airport, so here it is: Terminal 1 for large international flights: Terminal 2, Jet Blue hub: Terminal 3, various domestic flights: Terminal 4, small/medium international flights:
  4. The Sounds and Simulation of the New SimCity

Did you ever consider that the entire region is just that intersection and the cars were placed for the screenshot, and maybe those 57 people are just in the 27 cars.
  5. Forced updates

Originally posted by: mrtnrln I bought the game yesterday, and after a long and buggy installation (I had to manually install the whole game), it forces me to download 295.6 MB (!) of patch-content. Oh boy...quote> Ever try installing WoW? - You're looking at about 1 hour installation with 2+ hours of patch downloads

You should not have to pay charity so they can fix the game. You should be paying for a working game. I share the opinions of a lot of people here, there's just no way I can put money into the PO right now.quote> Guess you'll never buy software ever then? Software has bugs, its a fact, and can NEVER be solved. Originally posted by: cheuk18me94 Please make a mass trnsit GEM to solo mode!quote> Mass transit isn't a GEM. GEMs are basically mini-games inside of your city. For example the ski resort gem lets you build and manage a ski resort. A mass transit GEM would be like a railroad sim game, which is definitely not what you're looking for. Mass transit is content and not a GEM.
  8. Passengers & Offices: A cry for help!

First off, somewhat off topic, if you place airports very close to your offices then they will close down due to pollution. Next make sure on your passenger map that it is green near your offices. Make sure you have a very large road near them connected to your airports or the edge of the map.
  9. The Monte Cristo Announcement Thread

We really would. I would certainly pay for it. It would attract more customers, get you more money, and further advertise the PO. You can't simply reject this deal to sell the content packs to single players just like with the GEMs.quote> On this subject, I think that a really good idea would be to allow PO subscribers to use PO content packs in single player, as long as their subscription is active.
  10. High Density Executive Housing (skyscrapers)

Expert mode? Non-Expert mode is boring... only nice for a limit to create realistic development, other then that its gonna screw up your traffic and other stuff.
  11. Planet Offer

There havn't been any PO only (Content) updates yet.
  12. Originally posted by: Simguy228 Well I personally think Cities XL should have Power Lines. And since you are building a new city, and the time frame is like right now, then new cities/towns shouldn't really have overhead powerlines. But, a rural community still would.
  13. Blueprints out! Who got lucky?

If you pre ordered the game you get a certain blueprint depending on where you got it from (I think). I got notre dame de paris.
  14. CXL - Anti Piracy Features

Originally posted by: ashk I'm just going to jump in to way I was pretty nicked off when I found out that CXL required activation and constant phoning home. I was prepared for the planet offer, but when playing solo mode involved typing my password to log in, validating my install, clicking proceed, wading through multiple pop-ups telling me I should upgrade (the pop-ups are fixed now,) before finally getting at solo mode... Wow, that didn't sit well. I'm still pretty annoyed at having to log in every time I want to play the game, I kind of assumed the digital download would let me install and play forever in much the same way I can still play SC4, but instead it is a time bomb waiting to abruptly stop working one day. [Edit: I'm enjoying the game, I'm just disappointed because I was probably expecting too much.] quote> If you look around, someone posted something about a command line parameter that bypasses the login screen but only lets you play solo mode.
  15. Anyone saw this vid ?

Originally posted by: USA_PrideActually, no, I haven't. If I was in their advertising department I don't think that's a line I would cross, but maybe I'm just a sissy and don't belong in advertising!quote> No where in SC2 will you have the ability to watch a marine being assembled. My point is advertisements go as far (and are allowed to) as to show things that will never ever be in the game, and MC is just showing off a feature that we know will be implemented at some point.

  17. Originally posted by: smg77Which was exactly the point I made in my earlier post. You're paying now hoping the game gets better instead of paying for a decent product in the first place. Let me ask you something...why do you think single-player trading is so annoying? You don't suppose it was made that way on purpose to annoy people into paying for the PO? If you play through the single-player tutorials they admit that's exactly what they did.quote> Okay way to make stuff up abotu what I said... I've clearly said I am content with the product I have, but would not be content with it for the next 2-3 months considering that I am paying a monthly fee for the game to improve. I am expecting the game to improve for the entire duration of me paying the monthly fee. It never means that I am discontent with the current state of the game, it means that I want improvement. Every game can improve, are you going to deny that?
  18. Originally posted by: smg77 No but WoW launched with sufficient content to justify the monthly fee until the following content patches. Currently Planet Offer has exactly two things that the single player game doesn't: resource trading and a chat box. Excuse me for having standards but I expected more for the $40 I laid out for the base game. If MC gets their act together and adds a ton of amazing content in the future then go ahead and pay for it but for right now there is no reason other than wishful thinking to pay them a monthly fee. quote> Resource trading is the backbone of the game, and single player is really annoying without being able to trade with real people. I'm gladly paying $5 a month for that, but I expect that in the future there will be content updates.
  19. Originally posted by: smg77 This thread is hilarious. Every single poster except for one who is currently paying for PO says they are doing it not because of how fantastic the game is and how many benefits they get from PO but just because they hope that somewhere down the road the game will improve. That's not how these kinds of things are supposed to work. If a company puts out a good product then you reward them with your patronage. You shouldn't be paying more money for something that you aren't happy with in the hopes that the company will maybe, some day fix the problems. If people continue to blindly hand over money to shady developers we'll just continue to see more half-baked games with nickel-and-dime profit schemes. quote> I'm paying for PO right now and have no issue with it, of course if in 2 months when my subscription is up the game hasn't improved well then I might not subscribe again. This doesn't mean that I don't like the current state of the game, it means that by paying I expect the game to get better. Do you think that all 12 million WoW subcribers would've continued subscribing if Blizzard barely released patches and NEVER released a content patch. When you pay a monthly fee and expect to have improvements, it does not mean that you are not satisifed with the current state of the game, it means that you want the game to change over the time of your subscription. You don't want to pay $5 a month just to have access to PO, you want to pay $5 a month to have access to PO AND get GOOD updates with lots of content.
  20. Originally posted by: Androv Modern cities (or neighbourhoods) have underline power lines anyway, I don't think it's necessary.quote> Basically this. Go to NYC and try to find a power line...
  21. I'm not a big fan of power lines, they are annoying, and if they require their own space then they become annoying an unrealistic. The only way I'd be somewhat ok with power lines is if they can be put on roads (like in real life) and there is an option for underground power lines (like in real life). I think the biggest issue though would come from cities that don't create power, but only import their power. You'd now have to require instead of just passengers/freight, an electricity capacity based on the number of electrical links.
  22. Cities XL sandbox mode

This is amazing, can make pretty awesome cities with lots of highways
  23. Is there/will there be cheats for solo?

Wow that is amazing, now we can use highways and highway connections ^^. lmao you also dont need to worry about trade.. just import everything ^^
  24. Originally posted by: SimBurger 4) You added a new option for a road with three lanes going one way, and two lanes going the other way. This is awesome - but the popup has no "traffic flow" number to show if it has greater flow. My traffic has not become less heavy after adding it. 5) Offices are now showing the message "Lack of Passenger Services" in the popup. I think this is new. Maybe not. People are getting confused as "Passenger Services" isnt defined anywhere in the game. Might be clearer if you simply say "Traffic" or something more clear. Assuming that's what it means. quote> Large avenues have been able to be 3/2 the entire time. When you do make it 3/2 lanes you definitely reduce traffic. Offices have always needed passenger services. In the economy tab you can see Passengers or something of that sort, similar to the freight button, if you click it it shows you where you have passenger services just as the freight button does. Passenge servers also show up in your trade menu and w/ airports and harbors. When anything just says "Passengers" that means passenger services.

Cinematic trailers are almost never rendered in game. Go look at the SC2 teaser with the marine... Its like millions of polys and completely unrealistic to have rendered in a game. It looks absolutely stunning and amazing, but no where in SC2 will you get those graphics or will you ever see a marine being assembled. MC is showing off slightly better graphics then the game actually is, and is showing off a feature that may be coming soon, not something that we will never have.
