  1. NAM General Support

Hello, looking for help again This was a piece of ground highway with road overpass including ramps, I remember it just being one big ploppable piece, I didn't make it in game. Anyway I recently reinstalled NAM for European road textures but as careful to keep everything else the same. Now it just looks hideously out of place, not to mention I went to use it again and could not find it in any menu. Can anyone advise?
  2. NAM General Support

Hello, wondering whether anyone could help with this. The NAM European texture mod seems to be only half working and I followed the installation exactly. Image below. Some roads are European and some are still the default Maxis one.
  3. See image - some roads are European and some are not and I followed the installation exactly. Any ideas?
  4. Seem to have fixed it. I changed the settings as Moose said and this seemed to make the difference. Having said that though I've never encountered this problem before and the settings haven't changed. Weird. I just tried playing round with the settings too, I put shadows on high and it nearly crashed my laptop which is very new. You'd think a new PC would be able to handle a 10 year old games graphics. Thanks for all your help.
  5. No; Prop Pox doesn't act like that. @Paul4763: What version of Windows are you running? Running Windows 7. And I haven't installed any updates or anything recently. I keep adding mods so I imagine it's one of them, but I couldn't even begin to say which one it is. I'll post pictures up. Deluxe police station Library
  6. Buildings like the medical clinic and deluxe police station that have built in parking lots are just appearing as what looks like cracked black floor. It's also happening with the residential lots too so it's making the buildings look really cruddy. I've got NAM installed and a bunch of other mods but none that would cause this (that I am aware of, obviously). I tried searching to see if anyone had had similar issues but could find anything. Thanks in advance.
  7. Ok, Sim City 4... brilliant. Thoroughly enjoying it, used to play 3000 a long time ago and was really good at it and really enjoyed playing it and now I've come to 4 and I like it but I don't really know what I'm doing or where I'm going wrong. 1. It seems people do a lot of custom content and mod a lot around here. Are there any mods that are just well accepted as beneficial to gameplay? Like, I have no interest in cheating and don't want to cheat but I'm very interested in mods that will help. 2. I don't get the U-Drive-It mode. I built my landfill and pretty much anytime I want I can do some thing for Uncle Vinnie or something and get $70000 and -80 Mayor rating. And I've noticed that my Mayor rating is always green and never really goes below about 4 green bars no mater how many of these little missions I do. I've noticed that there are missions for a lot of other things too but I'm just singling out the garbage one cos you get a lot of money for it. So basically, if my Mayor rating doesn't go down, then why shouldn't I just do this all the time instead of waiting for my tax revenue to accumulate? 4. It seems that whenever I hit positive numbers with respect to monthly inflow and outflow, the people demand something, or I need to increase funding. I currently have a city that has about 27,000 pop, about $9k in and was about 8k out. Then I start getting given all these rewards and demanding schools and hospitals, I build them and my income was $10k as opposed to $13k outflow, and that's with cutting funding. I know that a Large High School, with monthly costs of $3750 is't gonna instantly have 5000 students. 5. I think I might be getting my planning wrong. I know that wealthier Sims won't move in until water and higher education is provided and increased land value via amenities and things like that. So what is general tactic towards making money early on? Because in the cities I've tried to build I find myself starting off really well, with positive flows of money, then I try to attract the richer Sims and suddenly my expenses are massive. So is the idea to plan the city and get it big enough with slums and what not, taking into account for later development and things like that and then once all or most of the areas are developed start hitting them with luxuries? 6. I constantly have traffic problems, need advice on this. 7. Do people build their cities until funds are running low and then hit play and see them flock in? Or is the process very gradual? Also, how many years should pass with regard to population if you know what I mean? Like after 1 year should have 10,000, after 5 should have around 100,000? These are just example numbers, I'm plucking them out of the air, but just a rough guide to how it should go. 8. How important are regions? I have a few little developed/ing cities but my main project is a large city and I'm just interested to know how important regions are to achieving a good city. On the old games it was just an independent piece of land, but in SC4 could I not just start up a new, blank region and start building in a massive city and achieve a what I want to, or do I have to take some time building up neighbouring cities? 9. How vital are airports and seaports? Where and when should I build them? 10. Has anyone got an example of a successful, high capacity Freight Station? Because I build mine in the heart of an industrial zone and it won't even get used, everyone uses Freight Trucks. I'm sure I had more questions, but that'll do for now. Thank you!
