  1. STEX Collections DVD 1 & 2 questions

First, let me start of by saying that I am very new to this site, the STEX, and custom content in general. I have been going through the STEX and downloading content since my game is pretty much stock. Getting the building files into the plugin folders has been easy, the tough part for me has been finding all of the dependencies...though I have managed. I just ordered the CD/DVD set too and am not completely sure what to expect. From the sounds of it, they are completely seperate, though I don't know if there will be dependency overlap between the two since over time dependencies have gotten condensed into larger collections. When installing buildings manually, I create individual folders for each (not sure if that slows down game load time or not). Maybe someone with more experience with these discs can comment on their expereince. Thanks!
  2. I don't think that the ads for Cities XL are annoying, I think that the majority of the ST community would want to be aware that this game is coming. Honestly, I didn't know that the game was even in production until I came to this site...I appreciate the news and have signed up for the beta. Aftet all, this is simtropolis.com, not simcity.com. I imagine that this site will eventually be supported by fans of both games as this is a city building fan site. It just so happens that until now Maxis/EA with Sim City has been just about the only option. I am disapointed that it seems EA has abanodoned this game, though I am excited to see what Monte Cristo can do here. Maybe it's time for a fresh set of developers...
  3. I remember playing it in middle school in the early 1990's on these black & white Apple machines. I got hooked pretty quick. Once I got a computer, it was the first game I bought (an old Tandy computer that didn't have a hard drive). I remember having to use the "red sheets" to enter the information about the cities as their early form of copy protection. I also used to print the large maps of the city out. I think I still have some of those...
