Simply Raising taxes doesn't necessarily lower the demand. Poor sims will still exist. You have to make sure your sime are being well educated, healthy and safe. Make sure your residential zones are fully covered by the education circle. Elemtary school then high school then college then university..also libraries and city museums higly increase the demand for richer folks. It increases the desirability too. They should all get health coverae too and it should be efficient. If you build fire stations and police stations your sims feel safer and results in less crime or fire hazrds which also leads to higher demand for richer folks. Builidng parks around the city will help too. Think as if you were a rich person. Where would you want to live? Somewhere where it's safe and well accessed. If your city is well educated, later on it will result in higher paying jobs such as high tech industry of wealthy commerical offices and services. Try moving in a sim to your city, start with them living in a poor resident. Your sim will tell you what are needed in your city to improve things.... THIS WILL HELP, I PROMISE

Favorite Public Transportation System
supermodelhk replied to The Terminator's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
I say Seoul,South Korea because it is affordable and it takes you everywhere (airport, train station, city, out of city, your home, work, entertainment, sports complex,etc...)!!! Also it is clean and the system is quite efficient, mostly on time. There are washrooms, cultural events, shops, resting area within the stations. And all the subway stations are connected with bus stops and you get a transfer credit thus not having to pay double fees. They also do something to continually improve customer satisfaction. I am saying this comparing to NY, Toronto, San Fransisco and Chicago mass transits. NY subway is just filthy. I sometimes worry having to breathe in there..so GROSS. Toronto is so inefficient. The workers of TTC go on strike even though they are VERY WELL paid. It's not like they go to university to work there, seriously they are so selfish, very rude and hot helpful and they always threaten to stike and have done it too.. it's also expensive and the wait time can be ridiculous. The few washrooms they have in their stations are unspeakable. San Fran and Chicago they're also quite expensive and doesn't take you to less popular destinations. -
How to make people use more public transportation rather than cars
supermodelhk replied to hostmark's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
If you click on your budget and go to City Ordiance there is an option to maximize your public transportation usage (Commuter Shuttle Service). If you click on the route query, it'll be easy to determine the direction of your traffics..and you can place your stations accordingly. Also it is important where you place your stations. It should have some traffic and population around the area ( lower residential zones have less usage than high density..same for commercial and industrial zones) Busy intersections works best. Keep in mind that your transit should take your people to places they need to go. Before you start builidng mass transit, your city should be a decent size..at least several thousand to have more usage. -
Earliest SimCity Series Memory...
supermodelhk replied to enemyone's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I believe it was simcity 3000 that my dad brought for me. Was a little kid back then and didn't know much about management. I just though as long as the zones were filled the game was played right. Back then I always had problems with building constantly being abandoned. haha now playing simcity 4, I've gained much knowledge on how to be more efficient and manageable. -
I already searched the thread but couldn't find the answer for what I'm looking for. So, here's the thing. I build a public parking garage next to a bus stop or a subway in the residential zoned area. Tried using it in several different cities and regions but never goes over 1~2% of usage. It's not being efficient for public transportaion. How and where should I place the parking garage in order to be used by many? Thanks

When I play Simcity 4 (Expansion) it is missing visual details. The parks just appears as green squares and the files that I've downloaded from ST exchange..for expample the city high school doesnt show a building but a floating basketball court over a concrete. Do you guys know what is causing this problem?
