Yeah mine game did the same thing (authenticated twice - got it once and then tried to resume, game got stuck on the loading screen and then decided it couldn't authenticate) No wonder they have so much trouble, if they lowered the authentication to something like once per day / week / month, they'd have a lot less issues with the servers being overloaded.

Well, my first impression was I feel ripped off, then I figured out there were multiple servers and you can switch between them. I felt better after going through the forced tutorial (which didn't load right until I exited and re-entered it twice.) Finally started my own region and first city. I can say that it's quite nice despite all the quirks at the beginning. I'm hoping though that EA will make a gameserver pack where communites can have their own private server to use instead of EA's stuff.

Heh yeah same here. Tried creating a new region, same problem. Was really looking foward to playing it. EDIT: Found a possible solution - switch the server you're connected to. To switch your server, prior to pressing play in the launch menu, at the bottom left should be the server selection area. Simply click on that and switch to a server with rating Busy or less.

I'm thinking of doing a city based around commerce. So pretty much shopping centers, office buildings, etc with a bit of residential areas.

Walking back with an inventory full of stuff and a creeper exploded. It revealed a lava pool and boom a spider knocked me in.

64 bit will allow you to use 100% of it, otherwise about 500MB is reserved for the video processing. I have Windows 7 Professional 32bit

I had a weird one today. I was stuck on the slider for the cash tokens with Omnicorp and it dragged all the way to my city's side and ended up taking all of Omnicorp's cash tokens A million bucks a cycle anyone? lol.

I use an XFX Radeon HD 6850 and have not hit any population limits - so far my big city of about 750k is still running smooth (sadly traffic jams are the worst lol). Don't rely on the GPU alone - make sure your CPU is able to handle it too - a higher clocked dual or quad will do well and also 4GB of ram makes it perfect.

Cheat menu is easy to get to - Click on the Cities XL button at the top left - then click menu - and on cheats.

Yeah mine crashes with autosaving. Especially right when you hit escape to get out of a tool and it autosaves. IMO the game would be better without autosaving.

Oh btw, forgot to mention this... for those who want to know, there is a cheat menu built into the game - click on the menu icon and then select menu - then select cheat. All your cheat options there, though how easy this game is you probably don't need them lol.

Definitely a significant chunk of improvements from the last version though I'm a bit sad that my video card "just" makes it past the requirements lol this 3870 isn't going to last very long - hopefully by Xmas I can buy one of the 6k series cards

Cities XL (2009 or whatever it's called) has something else (NOT SecuROM) Cities XL 2011 has SecuROM. That should clear things up

What are some of the populations you guys have so far? Right now I have one city at 34,764 people and I think that's probably going to be it due to everything being so close lol.

Update for me, my biggest city is now around 275,000 although I think my video card needs replaced.

Dependencies but that's not SC4's fault that's mine for abusing custom content Crash to desktop is my only real grip - that and you can't play the game without a CD. Oh well.
