  1. One year since the attacks on the Gaza strip

^I think you misunderstood my comment on the tunnels. I know the tunnels are to bring in food, medicine, building supplies and other essential materials. Sadly, Hamas has to ruin it for the good citizens of Gaza by bring in weapons. The current Israeli government scares me, and the rise in attacks against Palestinians (there have been quite a few attacks against them lately) and left wing Israelis (right wing extremist killed some people at a gay bar) is an alarming trend. I want there to be a Palestinian state, but I don't see that happening if Hamas and the current Israeli government are in power.

So I didn't do much on the transportation systems, so I bring you the city I didn't intend to do. What happened was that my residential demand was as low as possible, while the commercial and industrial were at the max. The city, named Gurnee, has a population, yet there are probably close to 1.5 million jobs. It should be noted that only 1.1 million live in the region. The city covers three squares, and it was pretty bad. I tried to fix it by adding more parks, schools, and other buildings to make the city look better. However, even with all the jobs being created, abandonment is still a problem. Those that do live in the city are mainly low wealth sims, and even with the changes, the city is still pretty bad. Also, a problem in this city and one/two of the other cities so far have a large number of Coit Towers and St. Ritzs. Is there a way to make it so this doesn't happen as I don't want to have blocks of the same towers, especially buildings like those two. If I have to remove the files for those buildings, if possible, I'll do it. So if you know how to solve this, please tell me how to fix it. Now, onto the photos. Downtown Gurnee This shopping center was built on a large neighborhood of abandoned buildings. Randon neighborhood Several of these Communist style buildings were built around the city to fix the demand problem. Even though the demand problem is still giving me some problems, it is nowhere near as bad as it was due to these buildings. As bad as Hamas is, they are still far better than some of the other terrorist groups trying to take control of the gaza strip. While I understand Israel needed to defend itself from the rocket attacks, the force used was very excessive. Only around a dozen Israelies died, and while scores of civilians died. Even with Israel warning the citizens to leave, they had nowhere to go. Egypt and Israel Israel has their borders with Gaza closed and Israel has a naval blockade of gaza. It is because of this that the tunnels were built. While they were being used to bring in weapons, they were also used to bring in food, medical supplies, and other stuff necessary for life. This is one reason why the rocket attacks happened. Also, these rockets, while sometimes deadly, are for the most part harmless. They rarely killed Israeli citizens, and Hamas got lucky a couple of times, two to my knowledge, where some somewhat serious damage was done. Granted, these rockets were still deadly, so I can see why the Israeli citizens were terrorized. Both sides did something wrong, so don't get the idea that I'm trying to justify the actions of Hamas. I want to see a Palestinian state, but with the rocket attacks continuing and Israel continuing to build settlements, which are illeagl, I doubt it will happen any time soon.

I have some Asian and colonial buildings, so it shouldn't look so American when I'm done. The buildings have grown in some of the larger towns, but the smaller towns are too small to support them. I have them as plops though, so when the kingdom starts to take shape, I'll go back and plop them to make the towns/cities look less American. Although, even with this, the kingdom will still look very American, so yeah, let's say Australia has a large influence on the kingdom. ComputerGuy890100 - Thanks, now I don't have those annoying UDI icons on my screen that keep asking if I want to do a mission De Ja Vu - thanks, and for some reason, I was thinking I needed a mod instead of just looking in the lower left corner of my screen

Time for another update. I'm going to focus on the kingdom's system of highways, rail, and kingdom wide subway system. So time for some of what I've done so far. These are some of the bridges going into/out of downtown Los Santos That's all for now. I don't want to post a picture of every little thing, so for the next week, I'll try to post small updates like this (5-10) photos every day this week. After this week, I'll try to do one update a week. The region is large, so it will take a while to even do the transportation networks I am working on.

DCMetro34 - Thanks, I'll have to remember that camera short cut De Ja Vu - Thanks, and it's great to not have that yellow pause box. Although, I'm still getting used it not showing up when the game is paused. Sometimes, I don't see the yellow pause box, and I think my towns are developing while I'm setting up another near by town. Schulmanator - Thanks ironicepitome - Thanks, and is there a mod for that? I searched for one on the STEX, and a google site just brought up torrent sites. Archean - Thanks Sorry I haven't done any updates until now, but I was busy, and then I forgot that I had this journal. I'll try to do another update this weekend, and then I'll try to get a few more out next week. After that, I'll try to do an update every week or two depending on my schedule. Also, I had do do another major city to get my demand back to normal, there was rock bottom residential, but sky high commercial and industrial demand. The city looks awful, but I'll try to fix it up. I just built the city on some islands in what was previously the sea, so no land from what I planned to use. Also, the next few updates will also probably consist of the geography and transportation network of the kingdom. I'll still try to throw in some towns in along the way, but I'm going to focus on connecting the kingdom through a system of highways, rail, and subway. Also, how do you turn off the you-drive icons? Now, on to the photos. Seems to me for an excuse to get around the constitution. I don't understand why conservatives are so upset. If they truly are guilty, then you have nothing to worrry about. As long as they get their Miranda Rights read, you have nothing to fear. A jury will, well should, find them guilty. That is unless you have no evidence that they did anything wrong, in which case, they would be deported. It's not like the guards will be like, "Ok, Chicago is 150 miles east, and feel free to do what you want, just be back by nightfall." No, they'll be locked in a cell just like all criminals. Those complaining about safety, have no arguement either. We have a supermax in Colorado where terrorists of all sorts of religions and ideologies are held, and Denver hasn't been attacked.

First things first: - I am using the config.bmp of the7trumpets map of Los Angeles. I haven't figured out how to make my own, and I wanted a large region. I will be customizing the terrain though. - I am using the demand mod (occasionally), NAM, the Medowshire Tree Mod (STEX), and a civic buildings radius mod. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Geography The Kingdom on Bengal is located 70 miles south or Sri Lanka, between the Maldives and Indonesia The kingdom consists of numerous islands with a wide variety of geographical features. You'll find mountains, hills, rivers, lakes, and plains throughout the country. Regions/Major Cities The kingdom will have many regions. The major cities will be independent, and most will have a seperate region called Suburbia. There will also be a region of farms called "Middle of Nowhere", and a region covered by forest called Timberland. There will be numerous cities, towns, and villages in the kingdom. The largest of which will be (not in order): Shiloh, Liberty City, Los Santos, Gotham City, Fresno, and possibly one/two more. Capital The capital city is the city of Shiloh National Flag Education and Health The kingdom has free education through college. All residents also receive free healthcare that rivals the United States. This has resulted in the residents having a HQ of 79 for males and 85 for females, or similar to that of Singapore. Religion 35% of the population is Muslim 20% is Catholic 10% is Hindu 10% is Budhist 10% is Protestant 5% is Jewish 5% listed no religion/Athiest 5% are other Languages Bengali English Chinese Malay Indonesian Economy The Kingdom of Bengal has a diverse economy. Revenues from the naton's many resources bring in a strong supply of money, and the nation has become a center of trade, business, banking, and manufacturing. Some notable parts of the econmy include: -banking -trade -business -tourism -oil -LPG -food processing -chemical manufacturing -automoative manufacturing -software -metal products -gold mining -coal mining Major trade partners: U.S.A. China Indonesia India South Korea United Kingdom Germany Japan France Spain Russia Turkey South Africa Egypt France U.A.E. This has resulted in the kingdom becoming very wealthy, and the residents enjoy a high standard of living. A History of the Kingdom The area now known as the Kingdom of Bengal has been inhabitated for at least the past 9,000 years. The kingdom grew, and people from India and Southeast Asia to live in the kingdom. As this happened, the kingdom grew in size and power. By 1200, the kingdom consisted of it's present boundaries, north to central India, east to Java, and went as far as present day Vietnam. In 1350, the Chinese came, and set up trading posts through the kingdom. In 1400, a post was set up in present day Shiloh. The post became an importand trade post, and a great amount of wealth was brought in. By 1600, the British, Spanish, French, and Dutch set up posts in the kingdom. Violence broke out between the groups, and in 1612, the British gained control of the kingdom. Shiloh became a base for the East India Company, and the kingdom's wealth grew quickly. The kingdom continued to thrive through the centuries. In 1941, The Japanese seized control of the kingdom. The kingdom was the scene of some of the worst destruction during the war, and by the time the war ended, millions were dead, injed, or missing. Some estimate that up to 30% of the kingdom's population was killed or injured. It seemed as though the prosperity was over. The kingdom looked like a third world country, and few at the time expected it to recover. However, the citizens rebuilt the kingdom. In 1947, they were granted independence, and the citizens hoped to make the country rival the countries of Europe and America. While a democracy, the citizens decided to pay tribute to the past, and they title of kingdom was brought back. The nation rebuilt, and by 1960, it was one of the most prosperous in the world. In 1965, a civil war broke out, and General Ling took power. The nation's wealth reversed, and many found themselves in poverty. In 1980, it was announced that the kingdom had developed a nuclear weapon. General Ling set his sights on Mumbai, New Delhi, Jakarta, and Bangkok. The international community reacted fast, and after a 30-day war, General Ling was killed and his government ousted. The UN took control, and a democratic government was put in power again. The nation once again became wealthy, and with the new government brought new business in while improving the lives of the citizens. The nation was once again among the wealthiest in the world. In 2004, disaster struck as 95,000 were killed in the Indian Ocean Tsunami. As they had before, the kingdom's citizens pledged to rebuild bigger and better than before. In late 2007, The Kingdom continues to thrive, and in 2009, it became the wealthiest nation in the world. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Photos I know the ingame camera isn't very good, but I haven't figured out any other way. 9. City of Fresno

Here is the city of Fresno. Located in the Timberland region, Fresno has a population of 270,000, making it the largest city I've currently created in this CJ. Fresno will be the main city in the Timberland region, while the remaining towns will for the most part will have populations under 10,000. St. Charles, population 70,000, and another city with around 100-120,000 are the exceptions. 10. Time for another update. This covers the eastern half of St. Charles, as well as some villages in the Timberland region square next to St. Charles. The next update will cover the mid-sized (pop 260,000) city of Fresno. I'm also mainly working on a region wide network of highways, rail, subway, and main roads, so for a while, future updates will cover that, the small villages along the way, and the hidden areas along the way. 12. The Definition of "Christian"

It is not a name. quote> It doesn't mean God, but rather is an abbreviation of the moon god A'aliyah. I went into this before, Islam is a recycled pagan pantheistic religion. quote> You know, Christanity has a lot of similaraties to the story of Dionysus and Mithrasim... Also, according to Islamic belief, it was meant to fix Christianity, not create a new religion (similar to Christianity and Judaism). Also, how can a monotheistic be a polytheistic one? As for the version of God not matching in the Koran and Bible, that is because Muslims believe the text of the Bible got corrupted. To my knowledge, if the Bible was written down immediately after/during the life of Jesus, instead of after a few hundred years long game of telephone, it is believed that Muhammad wouldn't have received his visions. That is why the Koran was written down by Muhammad, why it hasn't been edited, and why only the Arabic version is considered the true word of God. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Also Duke, while I'm not sure about Blue Laws, Western Michigan shuts down on Sundays. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- As I've said before, I'm christian, but not a very religous one. I consider myself Catholic, even though I don't agree with all of the Catholic Church's beliefs. Then again, I have more problems with what a lot of Protestant's believe. Of course, the Pope continues to push for more conservatism, especially with the whole " Do you hate liberal movements? We do, so become Catholic" that he did to the Angelican church members who dislike where that church is going. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Since conservative Christanity has been brought up, does anyone find some of the political leaders and religous leaders, to by hypocritical? If they stand for traditional family values, they get divorced or have an affair, and if they criticize the religous freedom in other countries, they turn around and try to impose their beliefs on America. If they get criticized or don't get their way, they then say that Christianity is being oppressed while other religions aren't, even though they were doing something that would elevate Christanity and oppress other faiths. I understand that 76% of Americans are Christian, but that does not mean that Christanity should rule America. The Constitution, Bill of Rights, and Treaty of Tripoli are in place for a reason. Just because the people who "first settled" America were Christian does not mean we are a Christian nation. I think Obama did a great job of explaining that in one of his speeches. The Bible condones something, and then it condemns it, so I don't see how people use the Bible to back up there view on what is right and wrong. It seems to me that unless something is wrong through common sense, like murder, then religous conservatives seem to ignore most Biblical laws that would affect them. I've never heard of religous groups trying to get Red Lobster shut down, but I sure have heard of them protesting gay marriage, civil rights (most against civil rights used the Bible for support, and the KKK still does to my knowledge), as well as using the Bible's ban on interfaith marriages apply to inter-racial marriages, although I'm not sure it was used on interfaith marriages too.
  13. A Troubled History, A Bright Future

Thanks, but that won't be needed.  I've downloaded a bunch of homes from the LEX that needed the mod that turned all the trees to pine.  It would look weird to have a tropical setting, but have several homes with pine trees growing in the yard.  I also downloaded a set of ploppable trees, so there should be more variety now.
  14. What's the size of your plugins folder?

It was something like 2.42GB until my game started to crash somewhat frequently. I then got the datapacker, and now it is down to 1GB.

^They grow with the lot, and no, they do not function. Although, you can get functioning ploppable parking lots from the STEX.
