Thanks for the hints. Apparently it was actually the old 4 GB patch that was holding up my NAM install. Once I figured that out I was able to figure out a workaround without blowing out my install. So far I'm liking it.

My install is 100% legal, but I do have the "no-disk" patch. It's never messed up any on the NAM installs until this one. I'd rather not blow out my install, and I'd rather keep the "no-disk" option. I can't imagine how worn out that CD would be after 11 years of use.

I've tried searching this topic, but cannot find an answer to my problem. I've only found a few mentions. I tried installing the NAM. It tells me the 1.1.638.0 patch is missing. Of course I installed it long ago. I tried re-installing it and get a log report: ----- Processing Patch File ----- Applying MODIFY File Patch for 'DELUXE.exe' Applying MODIFY File Patch for 'Graphics Rules.sgr' New Version of File 'Graphics Rules.sgr' already exists. Applying MODIFY File Patch for 'RUSHHOUR.exe' Applying MODIFY File Patch for 'SimCity_1.dat' New Version of File 'SimCity_1.dat' already exists. I didn't get "invited" back for the second beta. I guess my critique hurt their feelings :-).

SimCity beta lets to players chosen play each city by "One Hour" in his Origin account
Nunyabiznezz commented on NCGAIO's article in News
I played the beta for 1 hour. You get the tutorial and then 1 hour of play. It was OK. I'm hoping they plan on making some changes before release. I found myself wanting it to be more like SimCity4. I think I would have been happy with SimCity4 & better graphics TBQFH. The beta play graphics seemed to be dulled down (I hope!). I think they've missed out on a few of the more "fun" parts of the SC games. I don't like having to utilize the "existing" transportation infrastructure. -
There has been a lot of excitement...

Hi folks - I'm a long time lurker. I think this may actually be my first post ever on Simtropolis. I did not vote in the poll; neither option appealed to me. I think "blowing away" SC4 will be a difficult undertaking - after all, It's been 10 years and we are still playing this game! I'm not going to say "no" either, because only time will tell. I've read a lot of negativity toward the new game on this site. I think a lot of that is because we are creatures of habit. Some of us have been playing this "same game" for a decade. Anything different seems silly and foreign. I do have to admit that some of the released information has been kind of "off putting". I think what most of us really woanted was SC4 polished up with better graphics. Quite frankly, I would have been ecstatic for just that very thing. I am going to take the "wait and see" approach before I poo poo anything. I did sign up for the beta, and I hope I get the chance to participate. If not, I probably will not be one of the first people in line to get the game. I'll wait a while and see what other users report back.
