Maine's lobster industry is struggling so much that my high school cafeteria just served lobster rolls for 4 dollars a piece today at lunch. Believe it or not, it was actually real, fresh lobster. You could have paid 12-16 dollars for the same thing a few years ago. Only in Maine... Since this isn't really a full story/current event, anyone else have an interesting/bizare story about how the current economy has affected them locally?

wow that city has a very unique feel too it. I like how it seems to have a specific theme without looking all the same. One suggestion though is that the baseball stadium does look a little funny amongst all the other buildings.

its really a unique cj. I think your problem is that your updating too often for the good people of simtropolis to keep up with it. Try spacing out updates a few days apart so that more people have a chance to read it inbetween updates

hey sorry about how long it took to reply. (we lost power due to the storm) Anyways, i'd just like to clarify that the reason the maine lobster industry has been struggling so badly is because of the lack of demand over the summer. At one point, lobster cost less per pound than turkey. As for my school lunch, its usually pretty terrible, but they've been doing this new thing with home made foods once a week. This has included lobster rolls, chili, chowder and various other comfort foods. It actually hasn't been half-bad. oh and also, Maine lobster is NEVER farmed

It may look like i am new to simptropolis, but i had an old account since 2005, and i must say, this is the BEST cj i have seen in the last three years.

I'm mildly dismayed at how long it takes to lay out streets accurately, and it gives me a whole knew appreciation for the great re-creation CJ's that are out there. Anyways, here's a quick glimpse of the progress: A rough comparison:

I've been following this for a while as a lurker, but i though i'd stop in to say it looks great, as well as to ask a question. I've looked everywhere, and i can't find what your using to make those modular interchanges. I'm not talking about the custom interchanges that come with the nam, but the stuff you have attached to the rural highway. Any help would be appreciated.

Good work, what is that last stadium with the green roof called? and where can i find it?

This is the large group of black office towers, for those of you who don't know. I complete recreation of that complex would be a superb addition to this project, and it looks as though it would be relatively easy, seeing as each building is basically just a black box. And now to break the bat request thread rules, here are some other buildings that i would like to have as part of this project: They Rogers Center (Sky Dome) -This is the single most important building that i am missing from my collection and it is pretty much essential to a Toronto recreation. Air Canada Centre (home of the Maple Leafs) -Also very important to the Toronto Downtown. Toronto Union Station -A huge train station in a prominent location directly infront of the Toronto CBD. One of the largest train station in North America. Bay Wellington Tower -I found a fairly decent version of the Canada trust Tower, but do not have the other half of the Brookfield place complex, which is the Bay Wellington Tower. Fairmont Royal York -A historical tower with a prominent place in the Toronto Skyline, directly across from Union Station. This looks like it would be particularly difficult to BAT Royal Ontario Museum -A rather bizarre looking building that is half deconstructivist and half historical. Basically any of Toronto's historical buildings, especially from the University, as these are commonly overlooked when people think of buildings to create from Toronto. If those of you from Toronto have better ideas as to which buildings are most important to a realistic recreation, please tell, since i have only been there for a span of one week, i do not have a very good idea of the significance of all the buildings. My next update, by the way, should be up within the next couple of days. And again, sorry for totally destroying the BAT request rule.

Well I don't have an update prepared for you guys but i decided i should probably start replying to people if i want to maintain any interest in this project. I have still been working on the area of east york, slow moving inland. Progress is slow but steady and i work on it whenever i get a chance. Replies: psanders5: I too was thinking the mystery would last much longer considering the small area that i showed of Toronto, i still can't believe people recognized it that quickly. Almighty Nienaber: Thanks for the support, i was trying to start things off a little differently. edmonton_stinks: Titled changed. The old one was just temporary to keep the secret. knarfmo: Thanks for the interest! boon1234: i usually just count the lanes of the roads by looking at google earth and then try to find the best matching network in Simcity 4. Streets usually show up as a lighter color than roads in Toronto satellite images. CKSmooth: Thanks for the interest! Jamietoronto: I did a little measuring and i think the map extends northward to about where Yonge and Finch intersect, which is obviously short of the Richmond hill area. I too am looking forward to (nervously) to doing the Don valley area. It should provide some nice challenges and test the limits of Simcity 4 and my various mods. I actually live in Maine and recently visited the University of Toronto, which is what inspired this project. It was my first time going to Toronto. WillG_75: I've found a large number of Toronto bats so far as well many bats that look similar to real life Toronto buildings. I hope to make it as accurate as possible. edmonton_stinks: Sadly i have zero bating ability so i will have to do the best with the buildlings that i can find. Maybe people will feel inspired to do some Toronto bats to be used in this project.

It's not much, but it's progress: (click for full size) Now, I will give some details on the project. The goal is to make a complete recreation of Toronto, Canada. I have started in the south east corner of the map and will work my way west, then north. Progress will be slow, updates will be sparse, and the chance of completion is low, but I'm hoping for the best. The current choices i have made on what are streets, roads, avenues, etc, are only approximations. Once i have a good chunk of road network done, i will go back and revise them for better accuracy. Here is a satellite picture of the area shown: (all photos will be click-able for full size) The pink outline is the approximate area that i have created so far. The reasons for the slow progress at the moment have been a malfunctioning mouse which has decided it doesn't like to click and drag anymore (very frustrating when trying to make a 60 tile long road) and that i have spent much my time overhauling my plugins folder to best fit this project. I have spent a lot of time scouring the internet for Toronto BATS and lots as well as Toronto lookalikes and Toronto style buildings. I have also spent significant time collecting mods to aid this project. The current mods that i have installed: Network Add-on Mod Rural Highway Mod Beach Height Mod Colossus Add-on Mod Street Add-on mod 3 Bridge Height Mod BRF's Tunnel and Slope Mod Since i was already playing around with Google Earth, and i enjoy showing off, here are two snazzy 3d pictures that i took of two awesome cities.
