KELSEYHEATH GROWS!! Hello again Simtropolians welcome to the latest addition to the story of Norwich's growth. Since Kelseyheath's emergence as an annexe to Norwich, Mayor George has carefully considered his plans on what this part of Norwich will symbolise, and has decided it should become a centre of academics and sports. The first picture here is an expansion to the A30 corridor, the arrival of Salham Football Club. It was also decided that the region required a symbol of the great unity between it's own nation and the USA, hence the National Baseball Stadium...... Also visible in the previous shot is Kingsway Station. In more detail..... I am trying to upload a screenshot covering the CBD area but Simtropolis would not allow it) A puzzler..... Here is a shot of new development to the east of Kelsey Heath. In view are St. George's Church and memorial cemetery and Kelsey Cathedral.... Kelsey Cathedral in the shadow of the Trakkar Tower of Trade..... And here is a brand new museum, the Constable Gallery, it's purpose primarily to showcase the work of John Constable (1776-1837) and other landscape artists. Latest update after 3 years, as you can see, the businesses have been arriving thick and fast and have caused the Borough's population to spiral to 80,000. Visible here are the massive Djoella Insdustries buildings, 2 standing side-by-side and another under construction...... Djoella Industries up close and personal! Latest region view for ya.... Yes, the roads to nowhere.........

Fresh expansion to the south...... After establishing to docklands area of Maidenwell, Mayor George decided that another annexe to Central Norwich should be created, hence the Borough of Kelseyheath. Kelseyheath was named due to a prominent wooded area close to the A30. The location was chosen for the expansion due to it's excellent transport links to Central Norwich via the A3(M), A30, A2 and by rail. After 16 months the borough provides homes and employment for some 27,000 inhabitants. This is a view of the new settlement, with labels for places of interest..... Here is the rest of the smallish area, with industrial areas in the west.... And finally, the rapid growth of commercial prospects in the area has led to a few office buildings springing up. Hi again, folks. This is the first residential area of Maidenwell, which now houses some 36,250 peeps after 1 year... Now this is the Embassy Suites Hotel, which is proving to be a big hit with commuters and tourists alike as it is opposite St. Michael's Station, just a short train ride from Norwich City Centre.... And, finally for now, is some hi-tech industry providing some top jobs for Norwich's highly-educated overspill......

NEW UPDATE - MAYOR GEORGE DOES FAVOURS FOR SAILORS (ooh er...) Welcome to the latest update of my Norwich region, this is Maidenwell, a new settlement east of Central Norwich along the A13. The man-made docks are (it's planned) going to provide a whole new range of possibilities for Norwich's industrial businesses. The first screenshot is after 1 year of colonization..... The second screenshot is of the Great Western Dock, Norwich's first shipping port..... The next one is St. Michael's Cathedral, Maidenwell's symbol of it's own religious identity...... More screenshots imminently...

Hello again everyone, sorry for lack of updates I have been on holiday for a week. Anyway, these shots are from 34 years playing time, and again please feel free to comment as you see fit. Here is screenshot 1, City Of Norwich Airport, built to increase business and tourism and a business park with plenty of space to let, together with the A3 (M).... Now, the second screenshot.... Broadwater Island with new development across Whitefriars' Reach, Victory Arch, to commemorate allied troops fallen during the World Wars, and the Roman Catholic Cathedral. The third screenshot is of the Green Park Area, trees replaced by super-smooth lawns.... The Central Business District...... Norwich Cathedral and her general area..... Next one, (at last), at the request of London Wyverns, Olympic Stadium, home of Norwich City Football Club, The Canaries.... A bird's-eye view of the city... Finally, region transportation view with current population.... As I said, any comments and suggestions on expansion and development welcome....... Thanx!!

Ok a small update 4 ya. First, my dirty industry area before redevelopment, and afterwards.... New industrial estate, south of the river, together with Critchley Station and the extended A147 Inner Ring Road. And finally Norwich Station, along with McDonald's for those famished commuters....

These are similar pictures to the ones above after 19 years. This will mean I have caught up. Note the new Stock Exchange in the CBD.... SOUTH OF THE RIVER (ooh dear, don't go there....) Here is one of two new developments in Central Norwich, new housing and a hi-tech industrial park. ...and the second is Broadwater Island. With Broadwater Station, and the imminent development of north and south banks opposite, Mayor George hopes that this small island can fulfill his plans for tall offices without sinking..... The double bridge far left will soon also be part of Norwich's Inner Ring Road.....

Yes it is flat at the mo but I plan to add hills as I grow outwards, I'm one of those impatient people who just can't wait to build, I'm afraid... The grids are in plan to facilitate enough economic stability to provide for an acceptable rate of growth (dictionary, anyone.....) AND of course so Mayor George can save enough simoleans to build a football shrine worthy of his first division champions. Off-topic slightly, are you a Canaries fan also?

This was the next stage of development in Central Norwich, after 10 years. The commercial district had grown to meet the demands of a growing populous.... Recent additions to the area are, Goldiva's Waterfront Hotel, the most exclusive hotel in town (the only, actually), Norwich City Hall, so Mayor George could hold meetings with his advisors in civilised surroundings rather than from a bunch of deckchairs on his lawn, and BBC Radio Norwich. Now playing: Steve Winwood - Valerie. This is the growing residential area, with the new hospital and Norwich Cathedral..... This is the expanded industrial zone. Included in this shot is the Electric Power Station. This is a regional transportation view after 10 years.... ...and the equivalent satellite view... This city is far from Mayor George's plans for the future, but he hopes that advice from his trusted advisors (you guys) will help him achieve his goals.

Thanks subedei. This is the first borough to be civilised, Central Norwich. The bridge in the picture is Norwich Bridge, the first bridge to span River Hex. This is the initial shape of the allocation of residential and commercial zones. Mayor George hopes that one day, this area will be the hub of one of the world's finest cities. The park is Green Park, named after Norwich City Football Club's heroic goalkeeper. The road network is also taking shape, together with two railway stations, St. Andrew's Station and Albert Station. This is the residential area after 1 year of development. ....and finally here is the industrial area, to the east along the A13. This, currently, is heavy industry, although Mayor George hopes be in a position soon to demolish these areas in favour of cleaner, more advanced industries and technologies.

This is the very centre of the new region, on the River Hex, where they decided to build first. This is the area immediately east, towards the coast.... This is the northern costal area, including Broadland, a system of lakes dug many years ago to obtain peat (an ancient form of fossil fuel) which were then filled with water over many decades and now support a rich array of wildlife. This is the southern coastal area. Comments welcome, and obviously, with the help of my good friend and new Simtropolian, Mayor Dim, I have resolved my technical issues!!!!
