Hi everyone, welcome to Norwich, my first city journal. This is NOT a scale version of Norwich, UK. I just chose the name because I love living here so much. The region is hand-terraformed, although I will do more hills as I build further into the region, I just wanted to get on with building, you know how it is.... I am not using any mods, but a heck of a lot of lot files and BAT's downloaded from the exchange. It would be near impossible to name everyone to credit them, can I just say a huge thanks to all you wizards out there, and well done for your fantastic creations. Please feel free to post any comments you feel fit, be fair and all suggestions will be carefully considered. Don't be worried about being too critical, after all, some of the finest and most prestigious names throughout history were also the most unfairly treated, criticised and doubted people. After several years of seeing his hard-earned money being wasted by the government's frivolous spending policies, a local businessman decided to sell his lucrative firm of fishmongers and buy a huge block of land from the government. The land measured 644.25 square miles (equivalent to 8 x 8 large maps). He wanted to build a city where the were no council tax rises, only drops, where the was very little crime or poverty, and everyone played a major role in society. Ambitious? That was the nature of the man......

Well, I have to say I'm torn. I could re-ignite this one - I have done a small amount of work on this since last update.... However, I have also been contemplating and planning a HUGE, ground-breaking new project, which would probably take up more than the little time I have available at present...

Hi everyone, thanks for all the kind words! I have been a little busy recently, my friend has just had a wedding at which I was an Usher. (Not easy trying to seat people when like 50 grannies and grandads pour into the church at once, oh well...). I'm still working on Bayswater - it's going slowly and getting bored and not bothering with it for a couple of weeks hasn't helped either. What a superb map Benedict! Thanks very much for taking the time to do that - I have extensions to add to mine I must do that. It's just one of a number of outstanding things I have on this and it's all getting WAY too much! Keep smiling and I beg patience! Cheers A

Bayswater Planning Commission Goes To Work Hello and welcome to the opening stage of the construction of the City Of Bayswater. Some draft plans have been outlined by a team of Engineers and City Planners sent by Norwich's Mayor George. The fundamental idea behind Bayswater is that it becomes a commercially and economically supportive city to Norwich. The concept that has been drawn up is that, although it's a completely new city, it will be a representation of a hybrid of some of the world's largest cities. It has been planned with a historic central area, a CBD, a beachfront promenade with hotels and casinos, a large international airport, some open parkland and a modern transportation network. Some business leaders from Norwich itself have expressed interest in investing large sums of money in other projects - particularly sports. It has been rumoured that two icons of the business community, John McCullen and Barry Atkins - who are rivals to each other - were recently rejected a place on the Board of Directors at Norwich City Football Club. As a result of this, they have now earmarked land which which to build large rival football clubs of their own, to boost the Norwich area's football representation as planning goes ahead for integration into the national leagues. Some maps have been drafted of the plans thus far - however these are subject to change at any time. This is a preliminary map of Bayswater's transport network (Please keep the laughter to a minimum - this is a very rough sketch I've thrown together to outline my plans). The blue lines are motorways, green lines are major trunk roads, black lines are railways and the red line is the Promenade Elevated Rail. An underground system similar to Norwich's Metro, still under construction, is being considered. Other areas and landmarks are indicated on the map key. Key: 1 Norwich-Bayswater International Airport 2 St. Paul's Square 3 Queen Elizabeth II Park 4 St. Paul's Cathedral & Cathedral Quarter 5 Historic Town Centre 6 Bayswater Central Station 7 Waterloo Park A spokesperson for the Department Of Transport said today: While it has been a feature throughout the growth of this entire region to use ample space for major road junctions to improve safety, our hand will be somewhat forced in this development. Space is at such a high premium that we will have to restrict ourselves to much smaller junction systems than usual at key points in the city. With safety always in mind, the result of this will be strictly policed speed restrictions, particularly around the proposed Western Bypass. This is a preliminary map of the historic centre of town. Various landmarks will be catered for as time goes on and Bayswater grows, but a certain amount of land is to be set aside. Key: 1 St. Paul's Cathedral 2 Bishop Of Bayswater's Residence 3 St. Martin's Church 4 Museum 5 Bayswater Central Library 6 Bayswater Stock Exchange 7 Bayswater Criminal Courts 8 Broadgate Market 9 Broadgate West Station 10 Broadgate Circus 11 Guildhall 12 Eastgate Station 13 Bayswater Opera House 14 Rembrandt Gallery nb. If anyone would like to contribute some ideas as to buildings that can be used, by all means..... A City Planning Department spokesperson said: We have modelled this as a hub around which a vibrant and affluent city can grow. It will boost tourism and give the residents a sense of belonging to something historic, as well as providing the key functions needed in any large city. Let the building commence! Please let me have your feedback. Thanks A

Date: 6/13/2005 4:51:17 PM Author: Nardo69 Nice Job with these hedges .. I come from southwest Germany, these a hard to find there that's I don't use them quite often - but in your rural areas : perfect ... It sounds so ... stupid, repetitious but ... GREAT WORK!!! Nardoquote> Thanks Nardo69, so, is south-west Germany a rural region of the country? I have to admit ignorance - Germany is a country I don't know much about. Thanks A

  13. Norwich

Hi to all and many thanks for the kind comments. d211q2 - Yep, I'd been waiting for months for someone to release something like those - they look great don't they? Of course, they are everywhere in the UK's rural areas. I have visited Poshborough and it's looking good, but I haven't yet checked if my guess was correct..... Thanks again bud. MissTonya - that sounds good - bring it on!!!! Yes, don't worry, it isn't something out of The Ring making it's way through your monitor - those are my unique farms. I really must try and remember to go into the city and see if demolish and re-zoning will improve things. Thanks! oroen - three department stores?? That's the thing with a lot of the downloads, I seem to have problems. I check the dependencies and have them all, but then some probs won't show. Simgoober's Rum Distillery (I think it is) just has the green base texture - weird. The Electric Power Stations (available on the STEX I think) are ploppables. They are my method of cheating (yes, I confess) they cost

Region pics. Norwich has reached a population of over three and three-quarter million, yay. Region census..... Population league table, it's becoming very difficult to move up this thing, and I've been doing it so long that it's probably well out-of-date, however..... Thank you. Please comment as you see fit and necessary. A

Hexmouth Founded As The Region Infringes On The Hex Estuary Hello to all and a very warm welcome to the latest update. In this update we take a look at the latest area to be built in the Norwich area, Hexmouth, which has been conceived as Bayswater's northern suburb. This is as far east as it's possible to be without being in a coastal area, and the estuary of the River Hex has arrived meaning a wider, deeper waterway. First of all, if we take the A2 north from Banningtree Roundabout (see previous update) we arrive in the farmlands of Hollinghithe. The A2241 to the left leads to the Witham area in the south-east of Cowdeswell & Elmermouth. This area is littered with water towers, which have been built as the population of Hexmouth has grown..... We continue on the A2 and beyond the farms we reach the junction with the A2242 - leading to the village of Hollinghithe..... Roadsign..... Hollinghithe was the very first area settled in this region, and some very nice homes have developed..... .....and some more, close to the main road..... Returning to the A2, we are about to reach one of Hexmouth's key industrial areas. Bayswater is well into it's final planning phases, and there is not much room for industry in the city itself. Therefore, Hexmouth has taken a large responsibility for the provision of such employment, as well as the electricity requirements for the city..... Hollinghithe Power Station consists of 8 large clean electricity generators, producing some 400,000 MWh per month. It has an extensive front car park for employees in the main office and visitors to the site, and each generator has it's own car park for employees working in them. It is surrounded by a perimeter wall, and is currently supplying power for Hexmouth, Cowdeswell & Elmermouth, Burgh St. Margaret & Banningtree, and in the future Bayswater also..... Hollinghithe Industrial Estate pt. 1..... .....pt. 2..... .....pt. 3 and the road leads us to Hollinghithe Point..... Hollinghithe Point & Lighthouse..... Now we head back through Hexmouth Industrial Estate..... .....and towards the A2 at Hexmouth Bridge..... We turn back onto the A2 and cross the Bayswater Channel via Hexmouth Bridge..... Just across the bridge is the last junction before the A2 becomes the A2(M) motorway. Turning left provides access to Brownside..... Junction 1 of the motorway with Greenstead Shopping Centre closeby..... Roadsign..... Greenstead Shopping Centre, providing a fulfilling shopping experience for all..... Heading into Hexmouth from junction 1 you pass by Brownside Playing Fields and the surrounding condos..... In this shot of Central Hexmouth we find Hexmouth Market infront of Hexmouth Central Station, Essence F.M. Radio Station and Hexmouth Commodities Exchange..... Central Hexmouth's High Street is the mainstay of the city's commercial capacity..... The commercial centre becomes the suburb of King's Grove..... Junction 2 provides access to Hexmouth General Hospital, as well as the A27 and the A251..... Roadsign..... This area is King's Grove's eastern end..... Just to the north is an area around an inlet of water called Tyler's Ferry..... King's Grove's western end..... Working back from junction 2, here is a pic with labels to clarify the road layout..... Follyhill Industrial Estate covers both sides of the A2 (M) as it heads south into Bayswater..... The area of Follyhill, with it's Playing Field and Parish Church. The occasional hi-rise office is not uncommon as this is a densely populated area, despite it not having the condo blocks of central Hexmouth..... Morden Park is a quiet neighbourhood close to the farms in the south-western corner of Hexmouth. It has struggled to keep pace as Hexmouth has moved rapidly towards a commercially-minded hub..... As we continue back towards the east of the city we reach the area of Greenstead, which sits between the Royal College Of Nursing and Hexmouth University..... Brownside Station, and the southern end of Brownside..... Hollinghithe, with budget view..... Hexmouth by night..... Thanks for looking around, please let me know what you think! Many thanks again folks. A
