  1. RCI Nightmare..

I hate this "Where's the shopping in this town?" thing. Commercial zones appear to have a relatively low radius sometimes, so people still can't find shopping even if it's like 10 minutes walk away. So you are forced to scatter C zones within R zones which makes the city not have a downtown area...
  2. Do ferries also bring tourists only? O_o I thought they work with commuters.
  3. Anyone else lost interest?

Yeah, I play Mass Effect 3 multiplayer now, that I have chosen as a free game. I have build several cities, but somehow I don't come up with something I like that would keep me logging in and playing every day. Also, there are a lot of game mechanics, such as roads tied to building densities or parks controlling wealth, that I have found really annoying and not letting me build the way I want.
  4. Yes! It's Possible!

This is beautiful. Did you plan it in advance or did you just build it out of your head? I always try to build something more curvy and realistic, and still end up with a pretty basic square road layout...
  5. I have chosen Mass Effect 3 simply because it has superb multiplayer with a very healthy community. Battlefield, NFS: Most Wanted or MoH: Warfighter are not the games my machine can handle, and Dead Space 3 is a lil bit too cruel for me as a horror genre game.
  6. Add me: veelius Can play right away.
  7. I have the same graphics card with 1 GB DDR2 memory. It runs fine, but on lower settings. I'm not sure about your processor though.
  8. I have a similar problem. I have a depot full of crude oil, but all of my trucks keep standing in the garage doing nothing. Now my oil wells are full too, and I don't get money. It worked fine before the patch.
  9. I would love to! Been looking for some quality multiplayer, since people usually mess up their cities and leave regions. I like to build build cities that are not only efficient, but also good to look at. Can play on any server. Add me!: veelius
  10. ...that it has like 6 other options build within it. If you go from Min to Low you get: better shaders (better lightning), shadows (even though there's a separate option), blur and motion blur, depth of field (tilt shift), also better view distance (of distant cities in a region, etc.), and better detail distance. So, if you go Min - the game looks ugly; if you go Low - you get lower fps. They could have made all of those settings separate. If they care about people being able to run this game on older computers so much, why don't they give the possibility to tweak these settings, instead of giving them a Min setting which looks terrible?
  11. No it isn't because a lot of people actually have pretty good computers. But it's about options too. If I don't want Motion Blur, I should be able to turn it off without affecting the overall game graphics. Motion Blur has nothing to do with lightning anyway. In about all games (including this SimCity) high motion blur means that your system can't quite handle the game so it uses motion blur to disguise frame drops... When you say 'the system can't quite handle it', which part of it do you mean exactly? I'm way above all minimum system requirements. I even use this computer for motion graphic work. Try changing the frame limiting to 60 fps. That should remove motion blur. Around 40 fps and below you'll see motion blur (I beleive). I don't have the best computer but I can change lighting to low, shadow to medium, and everything else to high and I get no motion blur. What are your specs? Going to try that. Because when I go from Min to Low there's just too much stuff turned on that I don't need and it slows my computer. I removed the fps cap though, because I have vertical sync turned on. Frame cap is usually there so there is no fps fluctuations (which means stuttering) when vertical sync is off.

  13. Post a screenshot. I think there might be a problem with the graphics card or old drivers.
  14. I think they would sell much more if they made them cheaper... If they were like 5$ I would even probably buy one myself. 10$ is just too much in my currency. Also, I don't see modding available anytime soon, because the gameplay and the business model doesn't look very mod friendly.
  15. Depends how much people enjoy it once they get the servers to actually work reliably. The few hours ive gotten tonight..i dunno..I fairly enjoy the game..but its not a creative sandbox toy anymore for sure..its more of a...i dunno what..ant farm? Tonight I spent a while watching a garbage truck go around trying to figure out the traffic AI, because I have an area of the city..with 1 traffic intersection light...yet a back up every day at 5pm that goes the length of the entire map almost Edit: See...look at that traffic jam...what the heck is going on there lol. The only traffic light is that section just before the bridge. The traffic then loops around the entire island...ending at that bridge just behind the Oil HQ. I cant figure out how one traffic light does that..its almost like the agent system suffers from a herding instinct. Maybe it's because there's only one road leading to the other part of your city? I may be wrong, but it looks like there's only one avenue going around the island and it's the only viable option for transportation, so it causes traffic jams.
  16. The whole idea of Spore is very saddening. So much potential and it was the last game that Will Wright really worked on supposedly. It's a shame that it wasn't the great game it should have been, Darkspore is a different game. It's an action RPG like Torchlight or Diablo. It has this creature creator borrowed from Spore though. Instead of items you get in those games, you get body parts in Darkspore that, when attached to your hero, give various bonuses. A really cool game, but it's a shame it's online only and might get shut down, because it wasn't as popular as other games of its genre.
  17. I hope Darkspore is not going to get shut down soon, because I have this game and I'm looking forward to playing it in the future. It's online only and very unpopular
  18. There is no way these user submitted "reviews" are reliable and they will never be: way too biased and unjustified. People complain and give 1 star for problems with origin or always online drm, but the game is actually still worth more than 1 star. It's like how Mass Effect 3 got a bunch of 1 star reviews for bad ending.
  19. Population over 9K

Upgrade your roads to higher density.
  20. Maxis is a part of EA, so he is technically correct.
  21. I like the addition of trash, though I havent looked at it closely, housing needing pick ups daily would be kinda weird. Water and Sewer along roadways makes sense because thats generally house it is here in the states in built up neighborhoods. power lines generally arnt though. It does make sense from that point of view. But technically when you build a water pump, everyone in your city gets water anyway, so there is no need for it to "travel" trough roads to every single house in the city, 'cause it takes precious PC resources.
  22. It looks nice on paper, but I found this Glassbox a lil bit ridiculous. Why would they make the water or electricity "travel" through roads and hinder PC performance, if your whole city is getting those facilities anyway especially since no buildings can be built off roads? Same thing with trash: why did they need to limit other areas of the game just to show where your trash is flowing (like you don't know already)? While it might not be the stuff from Glassbox which requires the most PC resources, it still looks pretty stupid.
  23. Discussion about City Tile Size

I think city size is going to impact hardcore Sim City gamers very very much. It is a very limiting factor and also makes the game look like a very casual arcade-like game. Seriously, Maxis already failed a couple of times by making their game more casual and accessible to a wider audience (Spore being one of them). I fear the same thing is going to happen to the new Sim City...
