jcruiz, look at this tutorial: https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=146&threadid=77435&enterthread=y
  5. How can I make my own map?

https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/categories.cfm?catid=120&forumid=1 That is the mapping forum, where there is lots of good information. You will also want to look in OmniMaps, located in the Omnibus.
  6. Can't Find it? Ask Here!

Lifeless08, those houses are from the UK Suburban Semi and UK Suburbia Pack series by Gascooker. They should be on the SC4D LEX, but they are locked right now.
  7. Chicago! City Beautiful edition.

A great idea, and it looks very nice in SC4. I love the area around the roundabout in your first picture.
  8. Research Questions

1.) Are any of you urban planners/architects in 'real' life as well? I wish. Maybe in the future. 3.) Can the logic of the game (when things go good or bad for example) change from one city to the other? Yes, I think so. The game has many variables, and even small changes like street placement or water funding can make a big difference. Or is it mainly the look of the city that changes while the internal logic remains the same? The internal logic does change, but the town's appearence changes a lot more. There are many buildings, like real life, and there are always new combinations of buildings to be seen, 4.) Have you ever played (and liked) The Sims or The Sims Online? Yes, I play Sims 2 for fun, but SC4 is what I play if I am in an intellectual mood. 5.) What exactly is the function of the forum on architecture, urbanism and planning? The forum gives me ideas for SC4, and I'm sure it could give me ideas for real-life urban planning. 6.) How important is creating custom content for you in terms of liking the game? The vanilla game is fun, but custom content adds replay value. I have so many plugins, some of which I feel are better than Maxis buildings, and I get a small thrill when I see a new building grow. Custom content can also make the game much more realistic, terrain mods, water mods, and the NAM all come to mind. CC can also make it much easier to make the game do what you want it to. Examples of this include the Hole Digger Lots, Transit Network-to-Network transitions, and the GLR. EDIT: For images of custom content, you could use this one of the NAM, the most popular user-created mod, but get their permission first. http://img116.imageshack.us/img116/1862/roadpp1ai5.jpg
  9. Anti Gamer Lawyer Jack Thompson has been disbarred

No, kiddie games could rape our children mentally by teaching them numbers. Or something like that.
  10. What's the population of your hometown?

About 9,000. Its a suburb of San Francisco.
  11. Can't Find it? Ask Here!

Since they are BSC dependencies, they are probably on the SC4Devotion LEX.
  12. traffic jam

It doesn't really matter if it says streets are endangered. The congestion should have gone away, and that is the important part.
  13. Show us Your Interchanges!

That curve does look cool. Probably a lot off an exchange.
  14. Mystery of ur nickname

I have no idea where my name came from. I made it up when I was in 4th Grade, meaning its been about 10 years.
  15. Planning for large regions

I generally start in the city I want to have my CBD. That way, when it is time for my suburbs, there is lots of residential demand, which in turn creates more commercial demand.
  16. What mods you use are really up to you. Many people use the NAM because it improves the vanilla game's transit options immensely. The CAM is also a popular mod, it includes more growth stages, allowing for larger buildings and also more finite categorization of buildings.
  17. Bat viewer IN-Game

The DAMN (on the SC4D LEX) kinda does that, although nothing does exactly what you are asking about.
  18. SC4 Extra Cheats DLL

Yeah, Buggi has the code, but he never gave it to anyone else as far as I know.

  20. Halifax,Iowa-A Metropolis in the Making!

Nice suburban sprawl, especially the part with diagonal roads. Do you think you could show a transportation view?
  21. Winchester

Nice update, I especially liked the OWR ramps at major intersections (like 130/970). MP-130 narrowing near Piedmont County/Winchester line is the exact problem we have here in CA when roads cross jurisdiction lines, so good realism.
  22. Show us Your Interchanges!

I seem to have seen that before too... Must be a weird coincidence. But that is a cool interchange. You should post the old H22/Capiliano Ave. interchange. That was awesome.
  23. Can't Find it? Ask Here!

The textures are included in the NAM, and the SAM textures are in the SAM. Maybe I'm not getting what you're asking, but it seems kind of obvious.
  24. How well do you know highways?
