Blue Hope - The Interactive City Journal
phoenix7 replied to Need4Camaro's topic in SC4 City Journals
Just an update on the score update. I have 28 of the 66 devolopments accounted for in my big notepad document. The update should be up sometime this weekend. EDIT: I just need something from un1, I need to figure out the new posters, and then the score update will be ready. -
One of my friends is from a small town called Sen Devire, so how 'bout Sendevriel.

I'm pretty sure there is a way to do what you are talking about in the LE. Of course, I'm a BAT newb and so I have no idea how it is done.

Thank god its back. I thought I was going to have to reread Glen Harbor for the millionth time to get my MasterPlanMan fix.

Go to the STEX (https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?page=1). That is where you can get lots of custom content created by our community.

It was dead until you bumped it. There is a sticky reminder on this, read the sticky.

Plopped residential always abandon. Its a known fact. Sims cannot live in them, so no job zots appear, and then they abandon due to "commute time".

The shortcut link could be broken. Try the link in your start menu or running it through My Computer. -

Don't reconcile your edges, or reconcile in the other city, if it is undeveloped. -
You are missing a dependency. Download all the dependencies, and the boxes will go away. Theres also a mod that turns the huge ugly boxes into a swoosh (made by PEG), I think it is on the STEX.

Its a PNG, its some kind of thing that looks like a Christmas tree.

To be fair, search isn't working right now.
-
Yeah, that was what I was referring to.

A default airport yes, a custom airport no.

If you see that icon in a download, then you can't use that file. TBH, most files need SC4 Deluxe/RH.

Do not use the EA Exchange. Most of the stuff on there is utter crap. Plopping residential almost always leads to abandonment, as you found out, because sims can't live in plopped res. Custom content shouldn't interfere with rowhouses growing, it can actually help you. If you download tons of custom rowhouses (and there are a lot of them), then you will have a greater chance of rowhouses growing.

Sim City 4 (Original) Transport Issues
phoenix7 replied to Boycey08's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
The way SC4's pathfinding engine is set up (and this applies to vanilla and deluxe), sims will almost always use the shortest car route, even if there are better options available. If your public transport is by far the fastest option, sims will use it. Make sure there are stations near your sims' houses and workplaces. -
If you don't like what is available on the STEX, check other exchanges (LEX, PLEX). And remember, if you can't find something, you can always BAT it yourself.

The 2nd to last one doesn't have a name, mostly because it has so much weaving that most RL planners would never make one. The best name for it is a cloverleaf/diamond hybrid.

In the terraformer, open any region. You don't have to protect any city tiles, you aren't actually going to do anything with the map. Go to the file menu and click Create new Region. Type in a name for the region. Where it says specify the number of small tiles, type in 12 for width and 6 for height, since each medium tile is 2 small tiles by 2 small tiles. You now have a blank region, ready for you to terraform. When you are done terraforming, you will have a beautiful map, but it will be on small tiles. To fix this, go into your terraformer toolbar and expand the Global Tools section. Click the button that says export, then find a place to save the file to, and quit terraformer . Now, open up Microsoft Paint (Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Paint), click the magnifying glass icon, and choose 8x. Click on the pencil icon, then the green square (the one on the left) in the big row of colors on the bottom of your screen. Each medium tile is 2 green dots by 2 green dots, so your image will be 12 green dots across and 6 green dots down. When you have made the image, go to the image menu, then attributes, and type 12 in the width box and 6 in the height box and press OK. Save your file as a bitmap (the default option) and name it config. Save the file in a new folder. Now, go back to the terraformer and open that folder/region. The region will be flat, but that is fine. Go to the Global Tools section of the SC4 Terraformer toolbar and click import image. Now, browse to where you saved the file you exported (it will be a .SC4M file) and click OK. You now have a 6x3 medium tile region with your terraforming.

Once you have downloaded the zip file, Windows should be able to open it. Go to the right side of your screen, and under folder tasks, it will say extract all files. Click that, then click next. On the next screen, click browse and browse to the location you want to save SC4 Terraformer to. Once you have done that, press next, and it will be extracted to the location you chose. That should put an SC4 Terraformer entry in your start menu, to start SC4 Terraformer, just navigate through your Start Menu to the SC4 Terraformer folder and click on SC4 Terraformer.
