The countesy of Slovenia Capital city: Celje (pron.: celye) pop:~350.000 Other cities: Koper, Gorica (in development), Domzale, Kamnik, Sobota and more. This is fictional, but it is leaning on realistic cities and their historical development, and has real city names, Slovenia is also a country, which is not a countesy, neither it has any real counts, it's a developed country in the European union, and some say it is the most developed of the new members. The cities here are a bit similar to these in my city journal in terms of tidying and large old town centre's. However we have not yet awaited the tram system, which our capital (Ljubljana (~ 300000 pop.)) would need, neither we have any real skyscrapers, but who needs them if we have one of the nicest, cosiest and tidyest centre's in the world. Well if you wish to know more about Slovenia, go to google and google it, or you can also look it up on slyscrapercity.com. This thread will be mainly focused on Celje at the moment, because my main focus was to make an established city, a large city, that later on got a few marine cities (Izola and Koper with its port) and some larger cities (with less than 50000 residents), with smaller towns (up to 5000 and some 10000) in the mainland, that is quite hardly divided by steep relief and rivers. They say it was called the second Troy, as it was unacsessible to the turks in the middle age's trying to enter the Europe from Balkan's, through Slovene lands and Austria. The castle was owned by the counts of Celje (really), that worked up their way to the holy emperor of Germany at the time (15th century), by marriages and simmilar stuff, and here is where the stories get different, mine continues with the counts in charge of the whole German Empire, but the real one was that the Hapsburg's (that later on ruled the Austrian empire) paid the Hungarians to kill the last Count in Belgrade and because he had no children they gained the power over the huge amount of Celje land. So in SC4 the counts rule with authority, but not greed and in 19th century Celje is one of the most flourishing cities in Europe. Counts have given the land to people and nations, that weren't Slovene in this Countesy, gained independence in 1867 by a decret from Count Vladimir Celjski, that insisted the Istrian, Slavonic, Bosnian, Serbian and German parts gain independence if they wish to. Slovenia was left with 1/7 of it's original land, but the left over is one of the most beautiful and diverse lanscapes in the world (look it up if you don't believe). And so I shall begin with pictures of my city, development seen will be hardly visible, because the city is allready developed and is overgrowing and eating up other cities, in this year, it is expected, that it's population will increase 124,6544%, to allmoast a half a milion residents. The real country has ~ 2mil. residents, so this one shall not have a lot more but still not a lot less. So the pics: ^ This is the Celje Flag (not real) and it's coat of arms, which is still the same as the one of The Counts and is also used in Slovene national coat of arms. Let's start with the entrence to Celje arriving by train. You hop of at the Main Celje Terminus This is also a transit hub for the whole city, you can hop on the tram, that is videly spread over the city, or take a bus, which spreads even more and both are usefull to get around the centre, because it's closed for car traffic and there is also a lot of pedestrian only zones, that are nice and tidy. The city also offers a few parks and loads of space for football, handball, hockey, volleyball and other sportfans. National parliament, the Congress square in front and the government building in front of both The main city park This is the Sports park Celeia (which is the city roman's made at that spot). It got constructed, out of need, because the old stadium (football) was, nearly disintegrating of age and because the handball games got to packed in the old hall called Golovec, which is a hill in Celje, The new arena Celeia has a capacity of 14000 and when Celje Pivovarna Lasko plays an important match, there is also another 6-7000 people outside cause the ticket's run out in 2-3 hours after the sale starts. And it is something worthy of waiting for. The team is in the handball Chapions league top 10 every year and has won the throphy a few times (in reality it was 2004). So this is a little bit for now, next set of pictures will be showing the newer and higher built areas of the town, now don't expect Dubai and it's (for me) disgracefull skyline. But something very nice and soothing.

I'd have to agree with both comments before me! Will you be making the buildings surronding the square? I'd need a governmental square in my city and these buildings were mostly built by austrian monarchy which is the style I'm looking for. Need any help doing this? I master the sketchup which proves to be very useful for the lots(from then on it's the same as g/3Dmax).

Thank you very much jacquilina. Today's picture's are taken in a new city I've made on the new streches of land I created. Why i did that? cause the region was a bit too small too me. It was like 50x50km in original, now it's approx. 80x65km. So on this plot of land I've decided to have the new second largest city (which shall count at least 130.000 people), with small docks, nice old town with marina, a hotel resort (of course small- because everything I do is small in a small region) and an airport, oh and not to forget... a tram system. Of course a lot smaller than the one in Celje and mostly the T-RAM version =D The city is called Milje. It has 54.000 residents at the moment, but I'm working hard on that number, so I reach 130 or more. So let's start, by the northern entrance to the city. You can drive yourself or are driven here by the road from Trbi

Here it is... an update! This first one will be of Port of Koper, which got another pier (for container cargo and cars) and an oil terminal..

Yeah well still not sure, I'll give you something soon. My countesy has been expanded in the mean time, so the new 3rd biggest city will probbably have to be next won't it? =D

Obviously there is not a lot of people following my CJ so I'm not sure wheter or not to continue with it.

This is some great city building.

I had something simmilar that occured due to lack of space on my disc where the region was saved.

Hey how about a avenue to road transition with GLR on it? I really miss that. Great work people, this is making me totally addicted to SC4 =D -
Here it is! The second largest city in the countesy: Koper. Koper is also the biggest and actually the only port in Slovenia. The flag is red and blue. It has a blue coat of arms with a sun smiling: So let's start. If you arrive by train (at this moment it is only possible to do that from Celje), or via the highway, you arrive here: This is an interchange between the rail Dom

There will be a new city presented, maybe today, or tomorow, so make sure you don't miss it. @kj3400: Thanks! What do you mean terrain mod? What kind of a terrain mod? I mean why, because I don't get it why. =) cheers

Greetings from DAKS! We're pleased to let you know, that the rest of the A2 Highway is connected, this however isn't going to be a permanent solution, there will be some more redevelopment at least in the Koper municipality. However for present situation with the traffic flowing out and in to the Port of Koper (Luka Koper- LK) the situation is as shown in the pictures of the A2 section Dom

I think they're all the same version, however i have the deluxe version. I also have used LE before, quite some time ago, but then deleted the one i had.
-
no actually it doesn't... I tried everything... would it make a difference if i reinstalled Sim city?
-
when i download it i open it and it doesn't open, it just opens an error window and the window says unable to read registry file or something. The same as juju's problem. Up in the begining of the thread. As I understood you have to be registered at maxis to get a working one. Or do you? here's a picture of the little window (I dowloaded the LE from BIWDC's link)
-
The problem is that it won't work. You'll get the unable to read registry error

Thank you kj3400, I have some connections in DAKS and, have heard, that the orange option with yellow part in Celje-jug will be constructed. As the source says there are 2 bridges (350m and 500m long) and at least 3 tunnels (450m, 2600m and 3500m long) in the plans, with 3 cloverleaf exits and one trumpet exit in plans, however the last exit which is to be a diamond shaped exit, will be an intersection (1 level) and will remain until the highway gets the remaining part going towards Koper.

Thanks Simonopoly! Here's a region shot of Slovenia. And in this one (by DAKS), there are also built highways (orange), highways in construction (grey), and all marked with A (#) (A= Avtocesta-> Highway) The cities are also marked and so are the future possibilities for the new highways and motorways. Here we go. DAKS (Dru

There will be new and modern architecture in Celje! It hasn't been yet aprooved by the city government, but rumour has it that the investors will begin building the complex soon. The complex will be built on a large unbuilt area (measures 464x 64 metres) on the north of Celje City. The complex will have two highrises (70 and 60 metres high) and some lower development in beetwen to connect it all together. The winner of the architectural competition is arch. office StruckAR and here the renders. Now this is just one part of the area (however it is at least 70% of the whole area; i have 6x4 squares left) The site plan: The higher of the two towers: (front) (back) You can spot the smaller one in behind. The smaller, which is to be a hotel: (front) (back) The whole site from the front: Development in SC4 will start when i find a way to get the Lot editor working.
