Well, I just did some testing. All versions on my system have the job producing landmarks, industry quadrupler, and the RH update Under the PPC version on my parents' Intel iMac (Late 2008)

Pointless and incorrect. The night lights can be fixed by the creators, performance it just fine. Plus, there is no way to sue Aspyr for these problems, you would be better off suing EA for not forcing Aspyr to keep their quality up.

It sounds like you are trying to drag it to the Plug-ins folder in the Applications/SimCity 4 folder, which you cannot do unless you are an admin. Your plugins should go into ~/Documents/SimCity 4/Plugins.
-
It looks like you have the lots but not the props for the buildings (or the other way around, I never can remember). Make sure you take the entire folder that came out of the ZIP and put that in your plug-ins folder.

I like the blue one. And the PNG problem (AFAIK) is an IE issue. Also, Tegville has moved to the new Journal system at

Help with graphics please, specifically texture or transparency
TEG24601 replied to HeatherW's topic in SC4 Mac Users
Well.... I tried playing with the Universal version of SC4DE and the problems I was having with the PPC version went away... for the most part. The waves under the bridges, and waves under the cursor were still grainy, but everything else seemed better. Although instead of the ground level textures having problems like on the PPC version, once in a while the textures of a build would be wrong... or once a farm was wrong. I'm going to try some more tests. -
Originally posted by: mediaguru Unityx, it appears most of the problems posted, including mine, are indeed with Intel Macs. As far as 10.5 is concerned, the specific issues I have had (colored road textures appearing in zoned areas and huge, mismatched mouse cursor) appeared on my Intel Mac only after installing recent 10.5 updates. Given all the same variables (Intel Mac, ATI, 10.5), my copy of SC4 ran without any problems on the original release of 10.5. quote> Perhaps 10.5.7 will fix it, otherwise we may need to send a report to Apple regarding this. Help with graphics please, specifically texture or transparency
TEG24601 replied to HeatherW's topic in SC4 Mac Users
Yea, some of them seem to come on the longer I play. But often go away if I rotate the map. However, some textures, like on the base of buildings won't change. I'm going to do a little experimenting when I get access to the computer again and compare the problems between the PPC version of SC4DE and the Universal Patch version (as I have both) and see if there is really a difference, aside from the Traffic lines being screwed up. -
Yea, when you add any other plugins, including lots, you put them in the same folder. TEG

I've updated my Graphics Rules file and while it helps to some degree with the clouds and smoke problem, I'm now having a large number of problems related to textures. For example, I will zone an area, and instead of being the color, it will be show an RHW-2 tile in each tile colored to match the zone. -
If you've never installed it before, just drag the folder that is Unzipped into the ~Documents/SimCity 4/Plugins folder, then remove the components you don't need, as directed in the Instructions folder. It is quite straight forward when you follow those instructions (which are not linked to from the read-me. If you need assistance, simply ask. TEG

It looks like a font problem. Try repairing permissions, then if that doesn't work, try playing in a window. Otherwise, one of your plugins you have installed us a custom font that your machine doesn't have, so SC4-DE is substituting another font. TEG

Alt and Alt Gr are the Option Key. So just use the regular Alt key on a non-Mac keyboard on a Mac, as they are the same key to Apple. TEG

Originally posted by: tungston When you download the map be sure to download the config.bmp file also. You may need to renamed the file if it isn't name exactly as config.bmp. Once you have it, create a folder for the region in the documents SC4 regions folder, and copy the config file there. That will match the size of the grayscale for the region. I can't help with the Mac question, so I will move this topic to the Mac forum.quote> There really isn't any Mac issue here, it seems like a Graphics card driver problem in Windows. Have you tried booting via Boot camp to see if the issue may be with the drivers Apple Supplied or with Fusion? TEG

Originally posted by: unityx I think its the option key again when launching the program. Should be a check box for window mode. Or its in the graphic setting of the game.quote> Exactly, I usually hold down the whole cluster (option, control, shift, command) when starting up to bring up the options window. then you can select Windowed mode, the resolution for the window, if your screen is widescreen you want to do this, and refresh rate, if you are on a CRT. You should try to remove the config file that is stored in homefolder/Documents/SimCity 4, then try it again. If that doesn't work, I would try getting the Universal update/patch from Aspyr, regardless of whether you are on a PPC or Intel Mac. TEG

Looks Nice. -
Simply throw away the file located in Home/Documents/SimCity4/'yourcomputername'-config-log.txt. TEG

One of the biggest factors in commute times is the distance between residential, commercial, and industrial areas. You also need roads, avenues, and highways criss-crossing your city to allow people to drive (Sims love to drive) to their destination quickly. TEG
-
I have found that in those cases, you just need to make sure the highway is at the right depth. If it is too deep, then the road gets all wonky. However a solution I found was to slightly lower the road you want to cross the highway with, before using the ramps. TEG
-
All you really need for onramps is NAM. Nearly all the overpass interchange (road over highway) work directly, and all the others you need are included, including the ones to make custom ramps (like before a tunnel, then having a one-way couplet to the other end for local traffic). TEG

It should work, although unless you get Parallels, Fusion, or WINE-OSX, you will need to restart your computer each time you want to play. TEG
