  3. Mikeaut1 - Thank you for the comment! Hope you enjoy this next update. KingTitan - If you like the terrain, you'll love my next update. Just two? Awww... Update 3: A More.. Natural Feel We recieved word today that the new Pheonoia Government has begun talks on drafing a consitituion to go with the nation. Deamnd has increase enough for talks to begin with OneAlliance, the Union's air travel provider, for the drafting and reconstruction of the Pheonoia International Airport. Already the area is being demolished of all things that are not salvagable. However, this particular update will deal with the other sign of the rebuilding effort.. the terrain itself. The rebuilt Paradise Valley has double in size, and so has the attention to the natural wonders around. The first stop as you can see, takes us back to the first area of reconstruction, and to the far right you can the landmark Belview Church. This bay, which now only provides a scenic area, has been offocially christened as Belview Bay, and will be the property of the Belview Church. The Church has promised that this bay will serve as a place for all, for recreation, relaxtion, and spiritual discovery. As you can see, this bay is completely residential. To the north of the lake, a place most important is the Capital District, the governmental headquarters of Pheonoia. However, this place is relatively left alone, and closed off, and only Atlantians are allow onto the area. So far, no one has said anything about what is going on there, however Atlantis officals have stated that Pheonoia would be pleased. One area still available is the Gabreles Bay, named after the President himself, Kevin Gabreles. lining the bay and protecting it is a group of islands, known as the Gabreles Islands. This place will provide a nature retreat, and will not be opened to the public for some time. This little island was originally ment to just be a stop point for Union Ave, for a bridge to span the whole of the lake. Unfortunatly, the threat to the land at the present time is too great, and all attemps for an anchor has proved all but failed. However, an idea was passed around, and Shatanoga Island begame another recreation point. The Shatanoga Ranger Station is powered by its own wind turbine, and is the first step to building a campsite area where people can camp and enjoy all the perks of lake camping. And as always, I said Paradise Valley's rebuilt sections are have doubled in size, so here it. As always, thank you visiting the Grand Republic of Pheonoia as we come back from the dark times of war.
  4. Amerikaner - Always a pleasure, I aim to please. See? There is potential (if only minute) that Pheonoia can evenutally have an Amerikano store KingTitan - Thank you for the comment, I hope you enjoy update two. belfastuniguy - Phoenoia is looking forward to how Atlantis designs the Presidential Park. There is a reson I have no yet move up to the Capital District. After I get the Park down, next will be the Embassies with that district, and also the hotels and such. Things have been tough for Phoenoia, the capital city of Paradise Valley is completely in ruins, the worst of which being the Capital District. Very few places are able to stay standing, and it has been with great dismay that most of the city (and nation) has had to be torn down and re-terraformed. The new government of Phoenoia has had one strict rule that they have been going by: Citizen before the government. Because of that, the Government of Pheonoia has remained mostly onboard the HMIS Naran Liberius, the exact ship that Pheonoia gained its independence. With the assistance of the Imperial Kingdom of Atlantis, they have been working on where to go from here. Back in Paradise Valley, the main thoroughfare has been pave, and is slowly turning into landmark street. However for the time being, most of the avenue remains closed to the public. This, is Union Avenue: In a solumn cerimony, President Gabreles open the first of many national cemetaries to remember the thousands who died during the war... the Tomb of the Lost Souls in particular was dedicated to not soliers or freedom fighters, but the innocents who were killed in teh area. This graveyard is already full. Of course, with the shortage of police, and the state of city itself, its of no surprise that every place is not crime free. This one area, in particular, were a bunch of teens, who lost their parents, and blames Pheonoia for their troubles. But besides that, the South Coast Recreation Center brough some more light, as the new park area opened this past day, welcoming all those to realised that life is slowly returning back to normal. The Union nation of Mackinac is responsible for the funding of this park. So now the city is finally begining to return to normal, as least one section of it is. With the combined effort of the SCJU, the South Coast area of the West Bank is a self-sufficient city, even if a little jobless. However, it is to the point that two camps were able to close, and the residents were brought back to make their home here. Again. And finally, the end of the day, with this nighttime shot of the souther coast of Lake Shatanoga, in the heart of Paradise Valley. Hope you all enjoy!
  5. Impeach or not?

Dear God, please??quote> Well, there is good reason to do it now.. and I'll explain it, especially to our non-American friends who may not be familiar with the impeachment laws. When a governmental figure (can ONLY be a governmental figure) is impeached, they are basically guilty of crime committed against this nation. Now while at first it doesn't make sense to impeach someone when they are leaving, it is actually the best time to. To be impeached is teh same as a military dishonorable discharge, whereas you are basically disgraced. But it goes one step further. If you are found guilty of a crime as a leader, you have broekn that golden rules of leading, which is to lead by example. As such, you are denied all rights and privledges associated with having been a leader. So for Bush, impeachment would be worst, he would lost all his Presidential retirement, he political status, and worst off, his Secret Service protection. Quite frankly, he is kicked out of DC without so much as a so long. Same with Cheney. In our history, only two presidents have been tried for impeachment. One was Richard Nixon, who at the last minute resigned to weasel his way out of being convicted (like I said, ONLY a governmental figure can be impeached), and the last one was Bill Clinton. In his case, he got lucky, as they impeached him, but never fully convicted him.
  6. Dept. of Homeland Security hard at work

"unbaised Congressional investigation"? Isn't that an oxymoron? In the words of George w Bush: "If we let these costume wears go unchecked, then the terrorists have won."
  7. Very nice work. God you region must be HUGE! So spread and fancy and... awesome... Hows my Presidential Park coming? I've been wanting to showcase my government as well. hehe
  8. Show Us Your Suburbs

While I was working on rebuilding my city, I found this image of a unintentional suburb.. and I had to post it... what do you think?
  9. A brief history... In a striking vote, the SimCity Journal's Union voted to aid Pheonoia in their struggle with the RNAI. It was at this point that the Regime of Non-American Islanders began their assulat and invasion of Phoenoia. By the time the Union had arrived, the capital city was surrounded and under fire, and all northern land had been taken. With that, the RNAI got more dangerous making numerous attacks on the Union, and the closest Union nations, ignited official declarations of war from a few nation, the biggest of which being Fairbanks, angered over an almost daily attack on their country. Finally, with the RNAI overrunning the capital city, and the government lost or unnaccounted for, the Union began its final major assult to reclaim the city, and find the President. They suceeded, barely, and within a few more days, an offocial declaration of surrender was given by Conrad Sheppard, leader of the RNAI. A few days after that, on October the 27th, Phoenoia met with the RNAI aboard a Union vessel and signed the surrender, finally freeing Pheonoia. With their independence secured, and their freedom enforced, the duanting taks of rebuilding the nation began, starting with the capital of Pheonoia, Paradise Valley. A plan had been sketched to auction off sites of city for construction, so that the city could regain funds. With that done, Paradise Valley could concentrate all efforts on the West Bank, the primarily residential section of the city. This here is the first residential area opened back to the refugee public. This lies on the south bank of the new Lake Shatanoga, which was formed when Gabreles tried to close off the city by bombing his own bridges. This is the newly refurbished Belview Church, now a historical site as the final stand of the residence in this area. With the constand fire fight and barage, this church never fell, and not one person inside was killed. More construction is taking place, as the city is returning to its former glory.. and better! That's all for now.. I hope to bring back those you used to follow... sorry for my absence...
  10. Constitutional Monarchy of Mackinac

Beautiful, I must say. As soon as we are ready, Paradise Valley will have to allow you a seperate embassy as well.

  12. Wow.. this place has been neglected... mostly my fault. Well, there are some good things and some bad things.. the worst being my computer being killed by a virus, causing me to lose the former Pheonoia. But fear not, for I now have a new computer, and Vista! (Ok... maybe that isn't a good thing..) and slowly I am recreating my cities, one city at a time. A lot of changes, a lot of updates.. so stay tuned, for a whole new Grand Republic of Pheonoia!

  15. Those of you unaware, a fire in Malibu has destroyed homes, a well known landmark, and still threatens Pepperdine University. However, this is not the only fire. Wildfires have sparked a state of emergency and mass evacuations in California, with Hollywood stars forced to flee their million-dollar homes with at least one person killed. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger declared the emergency in seven of the state's southern counties late on Sunday (local time) as firefighters battled the blazes, which started in the early morning and burned all day, fanned by strong winds. "The governor's emergency proclamation allows the state Office of Emergency Services to deploy emergency personnel, equipment and facilities and provide local government assistance," Governor Schwarzenegger's office said in a statement. "Throughout the region, more than 30,000 acres have already burned, and more areas are threatened. The wildfires have caused the loss of human life and serious injuries," the statement added. One person died fighting a fire near San Diego and at least 11 were injured elsewhere, according to earlier reports. The fast-moving flames devoured tree-lined hillsides and filled the area with thick smoke. "They have burned a number of homes, businesses and other structures. Residents have been evacuated in dangerous areas," the Governor's statement said. Authorities ordered 25,000 residents of Ramona, 50 kilometres north-east of San Diego, to evacuate as the flames approached the town, said a spokesman for the local sheriff's office, Phillip Brust. Strong winds fed the flames which devoured a church and numerous other buildings, forcing thousands to evacuate, including entire neighbourhoods in the exclusive seaside town of Malibu. And yes.. the smoke and stuff is bad... This is SIMplMn9 reporting live from my hometown of Los Angeles, California, for Simtropolis News.
  16. In answer to the order list.. you have to remember who put out that notice... and honestly, A terrorist attack would do more damage than a gang war or roit.. at least to our knowledge. As for the fires ever reaching LA... you have to remember that Los Angeles is the largest city in geographic size, so when they say Los Angeles, its not downtown. Last year, the topanga fire started at teh edge of the San Fernando Valley, and firefighters were preparing for the flames to hit the valley, they had put most of the western valley communities on volentary evac, just because it the Valley went up, there would not be much time.
  17. Protestors attack Bill Maher's show

I still don't think our own government is capable of that.. maybe in the 60s and during the cold war.. but our nation has gotten steadily stupider over the years... for god's sake those same 9/11 hoaxers were standing outside fo everything theater in Los Angeles during the Day After Tomorrow's opening weekend to pass out flyers on what to do in a tornado!!
  18. Protestors attack Bill Maher's show

You know.. question just came to mind... for all the conspiratorists... WHAT does the government gain by staging an attack in teh first place? So many people desperately want to believe that their government is capable of dark secrets, and maybe that might be true for some things.. however, what would be the point? Afganistan isn't a plus.. Iraq sucks.. and the support poles have never been lower... So.. tell me why the government wanted to do this, and then maybe I'll consider.

And I am just going to say that I do not believe in these conspiracy therories, only because guess what? EVERYONE KNOW HOW STUPID OUR GOVERNMENT IS. The United States Government, that couldn't agree to survive if the other party said so, who couldn't save New Orleans, who can't even get the support of its people.. and who are failing miserably in the Middle East.. Are you actually trying to suggest that they are capable of staging a world-wide hoax to take some building down? That they can do in one year what takes at least 5 years for demolitions experts? And on top of that.. stage the blowing up of planes, and the dancing teh streets, and the terrorists who hates us to just go along with it? "Oh sure, Mr. President, I will take credit for what you are about to do to your people, nice talking to you." THIS IS GEORGE DUBBYA FREAKEN BUSH HERE! The guy couldn't even make in the National Guard, but he and the rest of our "competent" government can somehow pull this enitre scheme.. all within one year? Or even with all the time in the world? I beg you to first look at your "president", if you are American, if you are not, and you agree with this conspiracy, then I just feel sorry for you. Now, if you still have hopes that this administration could pull this off, next look at your physics book. It clearlyt dictates what it would take for a building to come down, and what the law of collisions actually do to a building. Give you a hint, when an object hit another opbject, the debris from the bject shot out at an angular perpenditory direction... i.e debris shooting from the sides of the buildings. As for this mysterious "Building 7", you try having 110 stories building crash on top of you and you try staying up. Its only a conspiriacy because the building didn't fall immeidately.
  20. Savoie; la Monarchie Alpine [Starting Page 20!]

Nice paper you got there! Definatly a good read. Does Movia wish to have a presence at the Surrender of the RNAI?
  21. All hill and mountain communities in Los Angeles county have designated time limited ditacted by the Los Angeles Fire Department when have to have all brush cut back. And the fire department does come through places like the Angeles National forest and do a controlled burn. Problem is, Southern California is a very dry area, and only getting dryer. We are not a desert exactly, but this is an arid region. PLants dry up do damn quick out here, that all they do is start fires. Also, arson out here doesn't necessarily mean that someone came in and took a mtch to the grass, most arson cases out here are accidental arson; people who do stupid things knowing the risks. Anything from a ciggarette, to a campfire, the backfire from a car, even teh reflection off glass could ignite stuff this dry. Hence why I talked about tinderboxes. I read a report somewhere about Los Angeles, the top ten fears that could lead to disaster: 1. Strong Earthquake 2. Wildfire in the valleys, entering city 3. Terrorism 4. Gang War 5. Riot These were the five biggest threats to Los Angeles... EDIT: Damn.. still can't find the report...
  22. That is why it is known that politicion are liars... its not necessarily their fault.. its human nature. Let's say Joe Shmoe had enough, and went with the "if you want something done right, do it yourself". so he runs for congressman. He wins, and now suddenly he had publicity, he has attention, and he has money, nad realizes that he doesn't want to lost that, so what happens? He go with his "fello congressmen" and forgets about his original platform. That is why as much as I want him to win, its not like Steven Colbert will actually become president. It's more simple that you all make it out to be: Steven is running in the state of SOUTH CAROLINA! Which is only 1/50 of the United States. It wouldn't matter if he won by 51% or 99%, he will not make much of an impact if he stays in South Carolina. He needs, if anything, the top 11 states, California, Florida, Ohio, Texas, New York, Pennyslvania, etc.. the states that actually dictate who is going to become president.
  23. Los Angeles California

Well, in all honesty, what you don't see in the pics is the danger zone... the northern end of Los Angeles County... that area will flame up quicker than LA.. and that is where most of the people in LA live..
  24. There are a lot of suburb places in Los Angeles and San Diego that have been lucky to not have a wildfire.. why? Because many of these area.. as spread out as they are, are pretty densely built, and are the perfect "tinderbox" The place I live, the San Fernando Valley (or THE Valley), which is the northeastern part of Los Angeles County, is said that if a wildfire ever sucessfully made it into the Valley, we could se such a flare up that we would litterally lose the Valley in a day or so, despite the attempts of the Fire Department. Which is why the Topanga fire last year scared firefighters s---less, because the fires were slowly creeping down the hills, and nearly made it in.
  25. That reminds me when I had the Topanga Fire last year.. my car still has the scorch mark when the fire moved faster than the traffic..
