Empowered One

Hello everyone, I'm desperately searching for a solution. I found my old sweet RCT1 disk with the Loopy Landscapes + Corkscrew Folly. Installed it on my comp with Windows 8.1 and I actually got it to run!!!!! Which I'm not used to since a lot of other old games have been made unplayable by Windows despite compatibility mode (I'll always remember you, Holiday Island). Thing is, I can't run the game for hours straight to finish scenarios in 1 go. So being able to save&load is great, but whenever I click the Load Game button, the whole game goes poof. As if the Load Game button and Quit button got crosswired. Now there is supposed to be a patch, but I can only find the US one and the UK one (which I think I need since I have the Dutch game) is down. So if anyone could help me find a solution to all this, I'd be very grateful.

If our computers can run the simulation etc offline, why not jump to bigger citytiles while we are at it? Or have I been out of the loop for too long?

Sadly, about 99,99% of what I find through google are either answers to how the game functions in every OS older than Windows 8. I've tried the patch (UK/NL patch can't be found at all anymore), administrator, compatibility, that 001 file thing from the GOG forum etc and still nothing. Game still keeps crashing when trying to load a saved game in any of the ways possible.

I have to admit...I've recently starting to play the game a bit...in Sandbox mode... But I keep running into the space and intercity connectivity problems (And the fact you can't build stations starting with the road instead of the rails). So it's the same old same old with the exeption of being able to build tunnels and bridges better. I'd rather be rewarded for 'giving it another try' after the Xth update.

So it's not possible to make larger city tiles that can only be played OFFLINE?

I can't seem to sustain Universities in my cities with just tax income alone. And yes, that's even WITH School of Buisness etc. That seems very unbalanced to me.

Currently reading 'Out of our minds' by Sir Ken Robinson. Almost done with it but I have another book of him ordered. Quite interesting. He writes about creativity and talent. And what he calls the Element, which is the combination where you perform at your peak. Where time flies by, doing what you are good at etc. The 'Zone'.
