4 Year old teaches Cops how to Smoke Pot
TheQuiltedLlama replied to Smarty218's topic in Current Events
Originally posted by: Simfan34 Smoking pot is bad for you-it's unhealthy, it's addictive, and it damaged brain cells.quote> Thats no reason to stop someone doing it. I think the government as no right to stop us taking drugs, I've got nothing against the smoking ban, because second hand smoke harms other people, I've got nothing against taxing cigarettes because smoking can lead to more health problems, which the NHS then has to deal with. However, I think that drugs shouldn't be banned outright, it simply causes more problems with crime and makes the drugs more dangerous. Take ecstasy, for example, 'proper' ecstasy is actually pretty safe, its when people try to pass off something that isn't ecstasy as ecstasy to make a quick buck that there are dangers, if it was legalized then it could be properly regulated and taxed , and this money could then go to the NHS to help people affected by drugs. -
I having some render issues with the Commie blocks, but once I sort it out i'll make sure I do a grey version too. gerAndi: Heres where I'm currently at, its got to the stage where it begins to lag my computer though, which makes it a pain to work on. New thing I started: A small 70's Dutch rail station. Sc4 preview: Based of this:

Originally posted by: confused04 I'm just getting kinda fed up with the whole "Cuba's healthcare system is teh roxxor and pwns teh wurld!" A) Cuba was reported to have a much lower infant mortality rate. Fact: Cuba was also reported to have a much much much higher abortion rate for "high risk", determined by the state of course, pregnancies. I.e. lets abort them and claim that they don't die at birth. Many of these abortions are not voluntary. B) Cuba's healthcare is cheap, reliable, accessible and successful. Its focus on preventative medicine and removal of corporate greed makes it superior. Fact: Cuba's healthcare system is WORSE in terms of corporate greed than the US. Their ENTIRE health care system is built on bringing tourists in to prop the economy up. There are two types of hospitals, those for the tourists and those for general public and they are NOT the same, nor anywhere near the same. Those accessible by the general public often lack ANY records (hmm... wonder why), lack supplies, are more importantly, are not sanitary. Cuba has a reason to lie if its health care system is trying to pander to the tourists. They claim to be capable of assisting in ailments that they cannot. Cuba's health care system is not a bastion of communist pride. Just like the cake in Portal, its a lie.quote> I'm not saying this isn't true, but i'd like to see your source for this. Here is an Article on the Cuban health care system, from the BBC, which is probably one of the most trustworthy sources one can find. Its a little old, but i think it gives a pretty good idea of how the system works.

For the most part, people don't really care about who's running. They just care about who's running in their party. The average voting person has so blindly accepted the political stereotypes that their party pushes that if Jesus ran for office (I'm using this metaphorically to indicate someone who'd be perfect for a position - I don't think Jesus would even want the job) people would vote against that person just because of their party affiliation. We really don't care what the person stands for unless they stand with a "D" or an "R" next to their name. And this comment was not directed at either of you.quote> One person doesn't run a country. When you elect your president, you are electing a party. If you insist on voting for a person, then you are voting for charm, charisma and the money they have to hire PR guys, if you vote for a party you are voting for set of ideas and policies on running a country. A Leader of a party will bring certain policies to a party, but only someone who believes in basic principals of that party would become the leader. So you may vote for Clinton or Obama on the grounds of their individual policy (which, to me, seem almost identical anyway, but thats another matter) when selecting the candidate in the primaries, but when you vote in an election, you must vote for the Party that closest matches your personal views. And no, i would not vote Jesus if he stood for the Republicans, because to stand for the Republicans he must share the basic policies of the party and I do not support the policies of the Republicans. To put it another way... Say Jesus decided to run for some Communist party, because he believes in the ideas of equality and sharing, would you vote for him then?

Thanks silur. As you can see, I made up the parts of the building I couldn't see on the earlier picture. However, I am planning to make a straight version too ands that picture will come in very useful.

I've now done red and blue flavours as well. Here they all are for comparison. Click to see higher resolution. I was thinking that it might be possible to create a set of modular pieces to allow people to create their own massive commie block cities. These buildings are often arranged in such a way that each tower is connected in a such a way that would quite easy to replicated in a modular fashion. It would need set of towers of different heights, and some low-rise base connecting pieces, as well as larger towers to create long 'walls' of commieblocks. If there were corner pieces, and T and X links it would be possible to create massive Soviet Housing projects. I might try, I might create a small set myself, but if anyone were willing to help we could be able to create a large collection of different styles to add even more variety. If anyone is willing to give this a shot please post below and if there is any interest we could set up a project thread.

Here's something new: This is based of a picture was posted by Silur, in El Burro's BAT thread, so I hope they're to too angry that I stole the project.

BATs Currently in Progress

El Burro: Its is based of Tempelhof Airport, in Berlin. However, I doubt I will be making the whole thing, so it could become anything yet. If I finish it at all, that is, I have terrible habit of leaving stuff half finished. Something I stole from Burro's bat thread, which silur posted. -

saltandsauces .obj models for BATing
TheQuiltedLlama replied to saltandsauce's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
Originally posted by: toxicpianoI think it's something to do with smoothing groups. I might be wrong though. Try clearing them. At the bottom of the right window pane, there should be the rollout about smoothing groups, press the button that says "clear all". However, if you have a round object that actually uses smoothing groups to look smooth, then you don't clear all. signature See if it works quote> Thanks, when importing I had to set the Smooth group to 0. That appears to be fixed now. Now, next problem, certain parts of the building appear to be inside out: Here you can see that one wall seems to be invisible. Thanks for any help. -
saltandsauces .obj models for BATing
TheQuiltedLlama replied to saltandsauce's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
I've tried importing it into 3ds Max now, but it doesn't appear to working correctly. Note how the objects seem to be rounded at the edges and one wall appears to be transparent. If anyone has any clever ideas how best to transfer files from Blender to 3ds max that would be most helpful. -
Hmmm...not very believable, no country would be stupid enough elect a president such as that... oh.. wait...

masochist: The houses are arrayed in a jumbled mess, not properly set on the foundations against the hill. The roads have crazy bumps, like having been built by a madman. -5/-10 Namesys: Your picture has a UDI thingy in it, therefore automatically gets -10/-10. iwouldlikeahotdognowandthenifitisallthesametoyou: Crazy mismatch of buildings, with your random mansion tucked between the skyscrapers. -7/-10

A .3ds Model based of Battersea Power Station. I created this Model a while ago, but it slows down my computer badly so I can't finish the details or texture it. Anyone may use this model and do what they like with it. But if you upload it, please do give me credit. It is not an exact recreation. Currently the building has no roof, so I improvised one, rather than modeling the inside of what is now an empty shell. Larger pictures: 01 02 03 -

I think that Obama and Hillary would not work well together as running mates, I feel they both want to be control and vice presidency wouldn't suit either. However, I think Edwards has a chance really affect the votes. If he were to run as Vice President with either Hillary or Obama it would give a huge boost to their campaign, pretty much sealing the results. Edwards really doesn't have chance of winning anymore, with all the attention focused on Obama and Hillary. However, he still could have a huge influence on the results , unlike Hillary he is not a love or hate candidate meaning that whoever he supports wouldn't loose any votes but all those who were planning to vote for Edwards would likely vote for whoever he supports.
