Hi there, I keep running into this problem every once in a while and I didn't yet find a solution to it. There comes a situation, where a big numbers of rich sims begin to move into my city, but become abandoned right away. The funny thing is, the R$ demand is around 6k while the R$$$ is negligible, yet many rich lots develop. That aside, I have low Commercial demand - and I don't seem to make it higher. Could it be the case of overdevelopment of commercial areas? Or what? I mean - everything's fine, lots of R$$$ sims are doing well. Now suddenly, the buildings get abandoned. Half of my city is filled with once-very-rich family houses. What would you suggest I do? The residential demand is negligible for R$$$ as I said, while high for R$ and medium for R$. Most commercial demand is negative. Should I just continue building Residential zones 'till my Co$$$ and Cs$$$ demand shoots up? I've got no airport, almost no parks, but I have a university and research centre. This really bugs me, I would be very very grateful for any solution you could offer. In case you need more info/screenshots, just ask. Thanks a lot

Thanks man!

None of which I know, why? BTW: It really seems to me that no R$$$ sims work at IHT. And they should, 15% of IHT jobs are R$$$. I wasn't able to find any mod that fixes this however, does anyone know the name, or where to get it?

Hi, sorry for necromancing this thread, but I'm hopeless again. I've started many many cities and each and every one keeps hitting this problem when getting around 40k pop. I started a city and tried to keep everything just right. I set residential taxes to R$ 9.0, R$$ 9.5 and R$$$ 10.0. Everything went fine until just recently. I don't have any clue what to do, NJZ keep appearing all over the city, and not only over R$$$, but also over R$$ buildings. I have checked the graphs and everything seems to be proportionally fine. Check them out: http://oliwerko.ic.cz/SC1.png http://oliwerko.ic.cz/SC3.png I even set the R$$$ taxes higher, yet they move in in large numbers: http://oliwerko.ic.cz/SC5.png The demand for commercial and industrial is almost always negative (which is strange because when I zone them, the zones develop). I have an airport, marina and a cruise ship port. However: http://oliwerko.ic.cz/SC4.png Is there anything you would suggest doing? What the heck I am overlooking all the time? Thanks for any help, I'm getting really fed up with this.

See screenshot attached with the graph.

I've read about the mod and you're right - that should do it. I remember older mods that forcefully disable the abandonment, this seems as a fix that should help. EDIT: I've installed the mod and raised the taxes by 2%, but the problem doesn't seem to be solved. R$$$ desirability is total green almost all along the city. Moreover, I was able to up Co$$$ demand a lot, but it refuses to develop. It's really weird, I've put tons of plazas and parks everywhere, the desirability is green, but it doesn't build. I'm confused.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that I have the latest NAM and latest Simulator Z running. I didn't build parks YET, I am planning to. It's only a starting city (around 30k residents). I don't want any radical mods that just restrict buildings from abandoning. It's most probably a demand problem. Tthe city isn't over 30k sims and half of it is composed of abandoned R$$$ homes. Now I realized something - I left the taxes on their default values. Maybe it's as simple as raising them? The weird thing is that R$ demand is huge, while R$$$ is oscilates around 0. Nevertheless, I get much more R$$$ than R$. As I said, maybe it's just the taxes?

NAM Traffic Simulator and Data View Support Thread
Oliwerko replied to z1's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Hi there, I have a question: Which capacity is considered to be "realistic"? Or let me put it another way (since I well know that if there was one, it would be a default one): I want to go a golden middle way. I have a balance between big and small cities. Which one should I use? I am also using RTMT, and my guess is to use Simulator Z Medium + High capacity RTMT stations. Is this correct? My point is that I don't want to simply switch to a higher capacity when it's not necessary (in order to force myself to construct better networks). Also, I hear that congestion is not literally "bad", because then the commuters take another route, which may be shorter. Does this mean that's it's perfectly OK to have red squares ? Thanks for advice, it's very valued.- 334 Replies

Hi there, I have a simple question that was bugging me for ages, and no one could answer it for me so far. I hope it won't be the same now. Anyway, to the topic: I have downloaded both GLR trams and stations. Now the thing is I want my trams to be spawned on the tracks, but I want to use my stations at the same time. That said, while it's nice to have the SFBT tram mod with spawning the color trams, I want to use custom stations and custom trams. So the question is, how do I get downloaded stations spawn GLR automata? Isn't there a simple "spawner" lot that you just plop next to the track like the ones for freight/passenger trains? What do I have to do to get my trams on the tracks? I would be very very grateful for any info you could give me. Thanks for help in advance
-
Funny, I never knew this because I didn't come to a point where GLR was heavily used. Thanks for info, I'll leave it as it is for now I guess. Still, it would be nice to have a spawner lot like those for rail I mentioned... EDIT: Yeah, you were right, I tried it out in a ready big city and the trams spawn. Thanks.

Is that right? Till now I thought that it's only buildings that spawn the automata - i.e. you plop a passenger train station and you get passenger trains.

Hello there, I recently got into an interesting problem I've not experienced before. I have a pretty high R$$$ demand, meaning that a lot of R$$$ lots start to plop in my city. However, the demand for IHT and Co$$$/Cs$$$ is a lot lower. Commute times are OK, since it's a small city (less than 30k) and I use simulator Z for traffic. Anyway, I have the city full of R$$$ buildings showing the "no job" zot and they're subsequently being abandoned and degrade to R$$. I can't seem to raise the demand on high-wealth commercial and IHT zones. Is there any procedure you would recommend?
-
Well, the demand graph sometimes even drops below zero, yet there are high-wealth buildings plopping. As you can see on the last picture, there are plenty of high-wealth residents, there is even a new high-wealth building plopping on the left, yet you can see old abandoned R$$$ buildings on the right - because of no jobs. Any help?
-
Well, I have low-wealth demand 5 times higher than high-wealth demand, but still, lots of high-weatlh buildings appear, having no jobs.
-
So the solution would be raising R$$$ taxes? Because when I try building any residential zones, the high-wealth begin to plop! So I practically can't build low wealth residential buildings.

Hi there, I've tried playing with various setups of GLR stations and automata, but I still don't get how can I spawn them on GLR tracks. I mean, I would like to have some trams from VDK GLR tram mod to spawn on GLR tracks, using stations I choose. Does the stations have to be created to spawn certain automata? In UDI, the tram I've installed randomly spawns on ELRail or GLR tracks. But none of them spawn at random in-game. Can anyone help me? I still don't get it. How does the spawning work? How can I spawn the VDK tram on GLR tracks? Many thanks, guys.
-
Thanks for replies, As I think of it now, I may just confuse two things. I have tried out the SFBT tram mod, and I noticed the colored tram automata spawning immediately after I did so. However, with other stations, nothing spawned when I placed a station, even with the VDK tram installed. If it is based on the usage of the GLR network, that might be the problem, it is very very light. And the train generators function only for rail, I checked that before.

Hi there, I just installed the new NAM and tried it in practice, but I am experiencing some anomalies. (Note that to exclude any incompatibilities I have turned off all other plugins and used only NAM - and I have the Deluxe edition patched up to the nightlights update). I installed the B Hard simulator to keep the stock settings with walking distance and network capacities. I turned on the Rush Hour tutorial to see if the capacities remained the same. Woah! After a month, the traffic data view shows all green. Why? I tried that also in the Big City Tutorial to see if the stock orange and red sections remained so, but they haven't! They all turned green after a month despite the B simulator is supposed to keep the capacities. Another problem is that when building a new city, I tried to separate residential and industrial zones and joined them only with one street. What happened? Almost all commuters travelled on foot! (like 50 tiles or so) You can see it on a screenshot I attached. Does anybody have an idea how this can happen? What's wrong?

Hi there. Hope this is the right board for this and someone will help. On topic: I am considering donating to get the both STEX Collector edition volumes. However, I don't know what exact content they possess. The main advantage of the cd/dvd is that it saves countless hours of downloading from STEX manually. Let me explain my main trouble. OK, I install SC4 and play it. "Oh man, this game could be much better with the stuff from STEX" I tell myself. So I go onto the STEX and download, one day spent with terrible time-eating and frustrating downloading, and it's still not enough. It may be for someone, but when I start the game, I simply can't play it knowing that there are so much better things out there on STEX. But when I try to download more, I end up much more frustrated turning the hundreds of downloads pages. So I end up not playing SC4 at all. This mod-madness is especially intensive with SC4. I don't want to have countless commercial buildings downloaded, I mainly need things like ploppable trees, sunken highways, new train stations, new fire/police stations, hospitals etc. Not hundreds of growing buildings, mainly essential things like bus lanes, truck lanes, canals, terrain lifters and so on. So I've had an idea - to donate to get the two volumes of the collection. But then a question have arised? Will I get the things I want, or will I get those countless commercial buildings I am not interested in? I hope you understand me. I need those "functional" things like the bus/truck lanes or roadtop subway stations, not tons of new buildings you actually don't realize that they are there. So how it is with the collection's content? Can you give me some pointers what is included in the two volumes? Are the things like mega-terminals (ferry-train), bus lanes, plop. trees, sunken highways, railway extensions or terrain modifiers there? I hope I made myself clear explaining my trouble. I am really frustrated from the hundreds of pages of STEX to find the desired LOTs and BATs and I end up not playing at all. Could anyone give me some advice? Thanks in advance for your valuable time!
-
I am well aware that it is a donation rather than a purchase. All I want to do is to save the hours of browsing through the STEX and still recieve a nice handful of those functional downloads I mentioned. That is my priority.

Hi there. I am new here and I want to ask one question. I searched the web for SC4 reviews and in some of them the cons were that you can't turn off random disasters, while in the others, there was mentioned that there are no random disasters. I am encountering the second problem. Even with very high fire hazard, I encountered NO disaster and I am playing this game for long, trust me. Is there a solution, or do I have just to live with it ? I hope somebody will help. Thanks very much in advance.
-
I also get riots from time to time but only in high-crime and low-wealth-health-education areas. So is it possible to make a mod to set disasters off randomly liek fires ?
-
Well, it's a good idea, but it is still you that sets off the disasters.
-
Actually, it adds some realism to the game when you have to fight fires or rebuild important traffic lines in your city after a tornado or meteor. I like it. I like the disasters to happen on random, however, I don't like them too often. If I remember clearly, in SC2000 it was like I said....
