  2. "Possible" way to keep game from crashing

ahhh, forget it......... it was working for me for awhile, i've been playing days without a crash (averaging 3hrs/day) and then finally today it randomly crashed on me. not a good way to start the year
  3. Network problem

wait, looking at the top picture, no one can get to the commerical zones because no off ramps are going to it. you only have side offramps, which aren't letting the people cross over the highway. but on the other hand, i suppose they might be able to go thru the industrial zone and get back on the highway via the avenue, and then get off the other side of the highway to get to the commerical, but that does not seem very efficent. but i would have to agree with sc4boy, its probably a display problem because you are getting development.
  4. Hey guys, I was messing around with another game i was playing (battlefield vietnam) when someone in that game was talking about setting the screen resolution. I have a widescreen monitor (1680x1050) so that game was always strecthed for me. I came across someone in the game who said he had set his screen resolution to be a proper fit. So I had the idea of would this work for other games that didn't support widescreen. Game #1 that game to my mind was SimCity. So i looked around online and I found how to set the screen resolution to override the in-game defaults. i have my screen set at 1680x1050, and I was able to get that to work in SimCity perfectly. HOWEVER, what I found was that my game never randomly crashed anymore!!! I've been playing the past couple of days for up to four hours without a single crash! Before I had set the resolution my game would randomly crash anywhere between 5 minutes to an hour of play. So I'm wondering if everyone out there who has this problem is playing on a screen where the in-game resolution does not match the monitor. I figured its worth a shot..... ok, to set the resolution to a different size, just right click on the short icon for SimCity 4, and in the box for "target", copy and paste this into it: "C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -CustomResolution:enabled -r1680x1050x32 (note, your actual .exe might be located somewhere else, but the real important part is in bold. change the 1680x1050 (be sure to leave the "r" in front) to whatever resolution will work on your monitor, and the "x32" is the color depth, so that could be either 16 or 32 depending on the monitor.) please, let me know if this helps anybody! we might be on to something here!
  5. Flat Traffic Lights

yeah, i mean the avenue. i know the left hand turn lane comes from NAM for the road.
  6. Flat Traffic Lights

hey, where did you get the avenue with the left hand turning lane in the middle?!?!?!? i SO want that!!!!!
  7. Los Angeles and Region

NICE!!!!! I have to say excellent because it includes the area of my home town, Thousand Oaks, which is in the next county over (Ventura County) Sweet!!! 10++++++++ because of that!!
  8. Arch Project: Interior voids of common objects

hummingbird feeder, thats cool! i'll look for one of those. this is a second year design class. we are going to be designing a poets retreat and our prof. wants us to find intresting interiors because I believe we are going to be using those in our design. My prof. said too many times we (as students) design thinking of the exterior first, and not give much thought to the "form" contained within the building, so this is an exercise to design from the inside out.
  9. Arch Project: Interior voids of common objects

hmmm....never thought about bones...those would be good, but i dont know where i could really get those from. i'm not going to go kill a bird for a project and duke87, thanks for the interesting insight on the storage of aggregate. i know concrete needs water and such for it to cure properly, but i never thought about the effects of it being stored in the sun or sprayed with water. very interesting speaker driver not a bad idea, but i dont have any spare speakers floating around. i supposed if i found one i could group it together with other sound producing devices i think the rings are too small. the objects have to be at least the size of ones hand.
  10. Can anyone think of some really good items that would work well for this project: In one of my architectural design classes, we have to come up with 3 small common items (small being between the size of a hand and head) that contain void space within them. These three items must be thematically/conceptually related (shallow or deep relationship) and should contain a void space that would yield unexpected or suprising features. (In other words, a water bottle won't cut it cause we basically know the void shape inside) We are going to be casting these items with plaster next week to study their void spaces. some items i have found are ice cream cones (the more cylindrical kind with the waffle squares at the bottom) a night light, a 90 degree PVC pipe elbow (it has a hard edge on the inside, its not all round) items some other classmates had thought of were egg cartons, flashlights, a shoe, snow goggles, toothpaste tube, and eyeglass container. I just want to see what you guys come up with because I've been thinking about this way too hard and its driving me crazy!!!!!!
  11. Waddles Drive in

SWEET!! This looks awesome! I love the handicap parking spaces and parking bumpers! Very realistic 10/10
  12. How well do you know California?

i'm seeing mountains in the background, bottom left corner in the sunlight. it appears to be sunset.....but why are the clouds dark????....i'm thinking east side of sierras maybe? nah, those look like east side of coastal range mountains. judging by the "cow" jumping the moon, its has to be a more remote place......i'm guessing somewhere along the 5....how about kettleman city? probably way off!!! but you see my reasoning
  13. How well do you know California?

yeah, i have to agree, santa barbara...especially that building in the background at the top
  14. Los Angeles vs San Francisco

hmmm.....i live kinda near LA, i live in Ventura County (the county to the immediate west) in the City of Thousand Oaks (which one could call a "suburb" of the san fernando valley which is a suburb of LA) I've been to both cities (obviously more to LA) and even though SF has cooler weather, its all happening down in LA. Where can you live where you can go to the beach, hike in the coastal mountains or inland mountains, go skiing, go camping, go to the desert and ride quads and such, go to lots of sports, and have good weather? Oh, and did i mention all these places are within 3 hours of where I live (with skiing & snow being the furthest) Its definitely LA for me!!! Architectural I think SF has more diversity and is more interesting, while of course LA was planned poorly. But hey, lots more people live here than in SF so I guess its not that bad after all
