Let them release it in Swahili if they want. My estimation is that they will probably encounter a ton of bugs in the first release. An English version will hit a huge population and if there are some weird flaws it could ruin the product image. A smaller release in their native language should allow them to more easily fix any problems and then they could release a flawless product in mine.

I have problems with the mac version on my macbook Intel: the graphics get goofy. I always trumpet running windows in Fusion or Bootcamp (I like Fusion better). It's a little more money up front, but it's worth it if you play games. Or use other windows stuff.

why is modifying the exe different than modifying other aspects of the game? Why is changing the size of a city tile different than the NAM? It sounds whiny, I know, but these questions have been on my mind for a while.

You write this like it's one of those town histories you'd find in the local section of the book store, complete with the little random details that make it believable. Do you read a lot of those?

It's a nuisance. It has to be fixed up, locked down, or demolished. They tried the first one, the second one hasn't been successful either, so the sad fact is they have to opt for euthanasia. Hi-rise ruins are nifty, esp. this one, but I'd imagine they are difficult for the EMS people to rescue/recover folks who cause trouble in that thing. Losing this one is going to be a big bummer, tho. -

How much of a failure was that launch? Maybe their real intent was to land a payload on a specific part of the earth. If they said it was a satellite, then you all think it's a failure. Maybe I'm just suspicious of the little runt that runs that country, but I think this "failure" was actually a whole lot more to worry about. -

Remember this about Oakland: It was the local citizens who called 911 to advise that the officers had been shot, and it was a citizen who performed CPR in an effort to save one of the officers, and those "pro-mixon" paste-eaters were outnumbered a thousand to one today in support of the fallen officers.

My personal favorite was the region named after the lands in Disneyland mayored by the folks of the Bush administration. -

Don't worry about MC. Let them design what they vision as a quality program. If they succeed, yet there's more content that people want, someone will find a way to hack the game to add the custom content. Look at the iPhone. Apple created a wonderful tool, but left off the ability to get some great custom stuff. People created the custom content and put it available on the internet, yet you have to hack your phone to get it. I'm not sure the morality of it, but that's the way free people behave.

I remember an article in the LA Times (1991?), something about how you sit down with this thing called Sim City, simple, black and white, square graphics, and the next thing you know it's 3 AM. It didn't take me long to figure out what they were talking about. -
