Though I live in Sydney, and I do love it, the harbour is only a small part of the city itself. I think that with a couple of major exceptions that our architecture is cheap, nasty and put up by greedy developers with absolutley no respect for the built environment. Sydney has lost so many of its great 19th century sandstone buildings and it is here that Melbourne picks up the award!!! It still has streets of grand buildings as seen in Collins and Spring Streets and a greater respect for heritage. I think that Melbourne (apart from Canberra) has the most adventurous and innovative architecture, grand parks and a human scale of design. It deserves its reputation as one of the worlds most livable cities......
