i am a beginner and need some advise
Aurabolt12 replied to tmp07's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
When my expenses are high and my income is low, I always just zone more to get more res/com/ind until I'm in the green. Usually a neighborhood or small business district. That was my mistake: zoning too little. So try that. Also, once you DO get your income higher than your expenses, let the sim run on high speed to get yourself a bit of extra money. -
Your problem is definitely the dual core. I have the laptop in my sig, and it crashes EVERY time when I don't switch Sim City 4.exe's affinity to only one CPU. On your region view screen, press the Windows key, then bring up task manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del) and right-click SC4.exe > Affinity... > and uncheck ONE of the CPUs. When the game uses all of your first CPU, it tries to use the second, and Sim City 4 can't handle that. Works for me 100% of the time!

There's no restrictions, I don't care. By all means, post your pics so we can compare! (lol that rhymes)

OK, I've read your comments (thanks for all the feedback!) and I took 4 more pics from zoom level 3. Tell me what you think!

Changing the SC4 Plugins directory?
Aurabolt12 replied to Aurabolt12's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I right-clicked on MyDocs and then Move... and I moved it simply to E:\My Documents. It does work fine btw. Thanks for everyone's help. -

Changing the SC4 Plugins directory?
Aurabolt12 replied to Aurabolt12's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Wow that was really easy.. Thanks for the reply! (I haven't tried it yet though, I hope it works) -
I have SC4 and all other programs and files on my second partition to the hard drive (E: Drive) but SC4 still reads my plugins from the My Documents folder on the C: Drive. Can I tell SC4 to look on the E: drive in some folder for the plugins instead? My custom stuff is starting to take up a LOT of space Thanks for any help.

Save as a .bmp or a .jpg/.jpeg, I don't remember which. I think .bmp. Then find the file when the window comes up.

Start Simcity 4 and create a new region. After the blank region appears press Ctrl+Shift+Alt+R, find your terrain image and let Simcity 4 run. Note: Do not do anything else while your terrain is being loaded. This will take several minutes depending on the speed of your computer, so expect to wait. That quote came from this link: https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=141&threadid=76310&enterthread=y Good luck

I think I'm stuck in SC Classic or SC3k mode.. I feel like I'm not taking advantage of SC4's realism. All my cities feel like I just add a blob/block/piece on to the side of the big city blob and I just keep going from there. My hospitals and schools are also slapped on a road on the edge... How do you make your cities look like snapshots from a helicopter? I just need a mindset... some tips please?
